First of all, your news posting is a little too short to look formal (sorry, I'm a perfectionist). You've been around this forum for quite a while now so I hope you can make a news posting the way I did it, i.e. include as much information as possible, not just one or two sentence. I added an image and a source link for your posting, that's how you should have put it originally. Your personal comment about such a news can be included when you have not much information to write about.
Okay, enough of the rambling. I'm sad that Ai isn't higher on the chart because she deserve to be at higher position. Think about it, some of those best ballads of 2005 are sang by our dearest Ai-chin isn't it? Planetarium, Neko ni Fuusen, Natsuzora etc. I wouldn't expect her to beat Utada or ELT, they have much longer history and have produced way more ballads than Ai do, but Hitoto yo shouldn't be one rank higher than Ai really. Maybe Ai didn't focus enough on ballads and song like SMILY probably throw the image of "ballad queen" out of window. And aiko's at no.5 when everyone likes to compare Ai-chin with her, is her ballad really that good? |

I would have expected Ai to be higher than that!!! But I guess she can move up the ranks in the coming years! My favourite is Daisuki da yo.
I am actually quite shocked to see Ayu in front. Sure, she can sing a great ballad, but I wouldn't label her number one... her high pitched voice doesn't suit some ballads >_<
I think MISIA should be first, her voice is just |

i agree with u, ayu's voice is rather high pitch n her ballads would sound better if her pitch is lower.
my favourite ballads are planetarium and kingyo hanabi. i think to be top 10 in ballads in japan is a very great achievement already. hopefully, she can rise to top 5. gambatte ai-chan! we will always support u! |

hmm.. although Ai get into the top 10 but that's a little disappionted that she only rank no.9 i think that she certainly deserve a no. 4 at least... ELT voice is getting a bit out =\ ayu ballads are nice but i dun think her voice suit it |

er..... i disagree... Ai's voice is high-pitched sometimes, i agree, but its not 'much more' high pitched than Ayu's.
Moreover, Ayu's high-pitch is like squealing almost sometimes, where as Otsuka's ballad voice isn't high and squealing-like.
If you listen to Daisuki dayo, Kingyo Hanabi and PLANETARIUM, it is quite evident that Otsuka can sing the low pitch when the song requires her too.
Ayu can try singing low, but it doesn't sound good. Evidence: Moments - Ayu's Arena Tour 2005 |

go ai!
of course im dissapointed that ai was ranked 9th but then nakashima mika was ranked 3 when she clearly does better ballads than ayumi. japan is just ayumi crazy, so it's not that surprising i suppose, but yes, 9, ai shud have been higher. especially with the popularity of PLANETARIUM...
on the other side, lol, hirai ken at no 1... wat a suprise (sarcasm) but followed closely by Mr.Children, i thought they shud have been no.2 but chemistry are HUGE right now, so, meh...
For those who can't read kanji, the Queens are
1. Hamasaki Ayumi
2. MISIA
3. Nakashima Mika
4. Utada Hikaru
5. aiko
6. DREAMS COME TRUE
7. EVERY LITTLE THING
8. Hitoto Yo
9. Otsuka Ai
10. Shibasaki Kou
and the Kings are
1. Hirai Ken
2. CHEMISTRY
3. Mr.Children
4. Fukuyama Masaharu
5. Gosuperazu
6. Sazanorustazu (Southern All Stars)
7. B'z
8. GLAY
9. Orange Range
10. Tokunaga Hideaki
