| Actually there is really no difference except for region code of DVD. I've LOVE COOK in korean version and it is okay ^^ I love the packing and I think it is the same with Japanese version + it has korean translation for songs XD. so when it is late for First press edition, I'd recomend buying overseas becasue it's like 11$ cheaper. ^^ |

Region 3 is Hong Kong included, so you don't have to buy a Hong Kong's DVD player, only make sure your own DVD player can play Region 3 discs (like older DVD players, which most are able to play all regions because there wasn't always regional encoding). Some newer DVD-ROM drives let you change the regional setting several times, so you can change your laptop/PC's regional settings to play it too. The only region that will play in a US DVD player is Region 1.
This site has multi-region "hacks" for your DVD player, to make it play all regions. But the warning is that you use at your own risk. I've never used it before so I can't tell you if it worked or not. |

okay. thank you. it looks like my DVD-ROM drive lets me change it 4 times, but i don't want to waste 'em. hmm, time to see if any of my dvd players are region-free
i think i'll get the hong kong version of love piece because it costs less and i can read some chinese because i'm chinese and mandarin and cantonese are written the same anyway |

a good region free dvd player for your laptop/desktop is VLC media player. It opens up any region and it's pretty low on disc space than most of the others out there.
Also just an add on to the Overseas vs Japanese edition. Overseas editions are quite easy on the pocket, but for soe reason evrytime Ive ordered an overseas version of a Jpop album, the case is always damaged...not sure if its a thing with Yesasia...but just my exp. Japan versions are always prestine |

| Yeah DVD regions can pose a problem. Usually there's third party software you can download freely for your computer that will play different regions without giving you a problem. I have VLC too, for my mac. XinePlayer also works pretty well. DVD Player on mac only lets you change the region a few times for some reason, so I try to avoid using it, as I'm only allowed one more change >.>" |

Cool I just got all of Ai's albums last night:
Love Punch - Japanese Edition
Love Jam - Overseas Edition
Love Cook - Overseas Edition
Love PiECE - Hong Kong Edition
You guys are totally right though - I only bough those versions because they were the cheapest ones (except Love Punch which was nearly £17 (~$35) because there wasn't a cheaper version )
Anyways, they're all CD+DVD editions, so me very happy
It's also really nice to finally have decent quality CD rips of her albums! Sounds so good

Almost any open source or freeware media player will ignore any region encodings. I recently bought a copy of Love Piece shipped from Japan to the US and tried it on my Dell Vostro 1500. Of course, Windows Media Player didn't work and gave me a wrong encoding erro but it worked fine with RealPlayer and Media Player Classic (although it did crash when it got to the menu, lol).
If you plan on watching the DVDs with a DVD player and have a little bit of time, would you consider making copies of the DVD (region-encodingless) with your computer? Or is there software that totally removes the region encoding? |

Congrats, so many albums!
So far the only Otsuka CD I own is LOVE PiECE ._. But it is amazing to finally have decent quality rips. I was surprised to hear so many things that I didn't before, and Mackerel's canned food at 1048kbps is like my dream come true. |

^ Yeah
A lot of people say, "What?! 1048? What's the point, even 192 & 320 are just fine!".
On my laptop's speakers, you can't hear the difference that well. But when I put it on the stereo or in my mom's car, the difference is very, very noticeable. So, from now on I like Lossless. I thought about uploading LOVE PiECE in Apple Lossless (what I use because it takes less space), but it's 324.3MB altogether, and I thought no one would want to download that long for a CD... But CD quality is beautiful! I thought I would only ever buy one CD but after LOVE PiECE arrived I got addicted to the "buying-the-albums-feeling" and like immediately ordered 2 other albums & a single (but by other artists). Now I want "POCKET"
Overseas versions are cheaper, but I like Japan versions better and don't have that many other expenses, so I stick with them. |

^ i agree that there really is a difference between the common mp3 bitrates and the full cd quality sound. i always try to get everything in no less than 320kbps if i don't have the cd.
i want that "getting-the-albums feeling" too! i guess i should convince my parents to let me order from yesasia soon so i can get them in time for christmas!
btw, who is that in your avatar? she's so cute! |

^ At CDJapan my mom's card is already register, so now I just click something to order, and pay my mom the cost with actual money after the order is shipped. But right now I only have $20 that I'm using for "POCKET" and "CHANCE!", so... I can't order anything else until after Christmas, when I might get more money. I can't wait until next year, where I can finally get a job.
I always say I prefer CDJ to YA but I've actually never tried YA before. I just heard that with CDJ first press/LE extras are always included, packaging is better and the purchase counts toward the ORICON sales charts. But, one of my best friends always orders from YA and she always gets her orders in perfect shape, very quickly and very satisfied. From the look of their site they also have more items too, like posters etc. that I couldn't find at CDJ. So, I might try them one day.
It's Kusumi Koharu, she's a seiyuu/solo artist/7G Morning Musume. member. Maybe you've heard her music before? She releases credited as "Tsukishima Kirari starring Kusumi Koharu (Morning Musume.)", She doesn't really have the best voice, but... I'm still a big fan of hers. She's funny xD |
