I found a cool program called DVD Region+CSS Free for PC which will allow me to play any Region DVD in my Region 1 DVD players on my PC and Laptop.

VideoHelp.com has a page which lists a bunch of DVD Players which have hacks to make your DVD Player a Region 0 so you can play any Region discs. The page is here.

My DVD Player is too new so it doesnt have any hacks yet.

I don't mind if my cds or dvds are Japan or overseas version. Overseas is cheaper Smile But I would like some of my things to be Japanese version instead of overseas. I have a mix of Japan and overseas cds, it's all ok, I love them all Love !

To go along with the region-encoding of dvd's. Although north american dvd players can't play anything but region 1, as far as I know region 3 encoded dvd players can play ANY dvd, region 1, 2, 3 and more. so if anyone's in china or taiwan...pick up a dvd player! =)

yes china and taiwan players would be handy as they do play regions 2+3...but..you now can buy region free dvd players. They don't cost all that much and they do work wonders Boogie

Just to emphasize what the others have said before me, my overseas version of Queen of Hip Pop (Namie Amuro) has the Pink Panther stickers and the newspaper thingie with Chinese translations. Goes to say that first press overseas versions have extras as well. But not too sure about other albums.

Extras aren't really important at the end of the day I guess, if the music is what you're yearning for. But that's just me talking.

Thanks.

I donīt think that thereīs any difference between the songs. I bet that only difference is between the DVD Regions, when you buy the DVD. I donīt see any difference between the Albums though. Maybe the booklet content translated to Chinese, but I donīt think so...

when i bought the HK version of 愛amBEST there was a small folded booklet with the lyrics in chinese. the original japanese booklet was of course still there. other than that and the DVD region i don't think there's any difference. the sticker outside of the plastic wrapper had the song titles written in chinese too.

region codes cant affect PC, so watching it on the PC seems suitable for me. I don't really like watching it on TV, you have to spend a fair amount of money:
- a good TV (LCD or Plasma thats at least 30 inches..ranging $800-$3000)
- region free DVD player (about $40-$100)
- 5.1 surround sound (optional if your TV provides you with decent sound or you have your own..about $200-$500)

i tried playing it on my DVD player..of course, doesn't work...but i played my LOVE IS BORN (burned, region free) and the sound WAS HORRIBLE (on a 20inch TV XD) quality was ok...but sound was horrible...

for me...i buy the japanese press for CD ONLY version if there's like a bonus goods (photo book, stamp w/e)
and buy the taiwan press for CD+DVD ver. or when there's no bonus
seriously, to a student(like me..), if you really cant afford the japanese press then go for the overseas press...there's not much difference really..
