^ i see. no one in my family has accounts of those sites... yet. Giggle i had a job during the summer so i have enough money, but i wanna save most of it for college.

i have not heard of Kusumi Koharu, but i recently heard of hello! project.
she's only 15?! Surprised wow that's kinda crazy. i'm older than she is. i feel old Tongue
i dislike the whole changing your look with plastic surgery to get huge eyes and look prettier thing, but i digress. i found some of her PVs on Veoh and Youtube. i guess bubblegum pop isn't my genre Sneeze
within the whole jpop umbrella, i prefer the styles of hikaru utada and ai otsuka.
i'm definitely a piano jpop, piano rock, and piano pop fan Smile

^ Lucky. In California you can't work legally until you're 16.

Oh, maybe you won't like H!P then. It's idol pop basically. Koharu does songs for her anime "Kirarin Revolution", so they're more anime-ish, I guess. Her song "Balalaika" is sort of Russian, and "Koi no Mahou wa Habibi no Bi!" is sort of Latin.

Koharu didn't get any surgery for her eyes. Shocked Or are you just saying that you dislike it in general? I think she was 12 or 13 when she joined/auditioned. Her audition tape is horrible, it hurts my ears more than usual. Hagiwara Mai, the youngest of ℃-ute is currently 11. I don't love Hikki's older stuff, but I like almost every song of "ULTRA BLUE".

I always prefer Japan versions, because I don't like the Chinese texts that are added on to the CD covers and so forth. Plus, I'd rather get the original Japanese versions, with DVDs that are in Region 2. Smile

Cool I just got all of Ai's albums last night:

Love Punch - Japanese Edition
Love Jam - Overseas Edition
Love Cook - Overseas Edition
Love PiECE - Hong Kong Edition

You guys are totally right though - I only bough those versions because they were the cheapest ones Giggle (except Love Punch which was nearly 17 (~$35) because there wasn't a cheaper version Mad )

Anyways, they're all CD+DVD editions, so me very happy Giggle

It's also really nice to finally have decent quality CD rips of her albums! Sounds so good Giggle

Tom

You could have gotten the overseas version for Love Punch. I think the overseas edition for Love Punch is still available at playasia (see my signature). But what's bought is bought.

i like having chinese text because then i can practice my chinese (my chinese literacy needs work for someone who is ancestrally 100% chinese) Tongue
but i suppose i could always practice my chinese somewhere other than reading a cd cover Giggle

Like most people i only buy the overseas version because its cheaper. Another reason is the overseas version is the only version available in stores in my country. As for the Chinese words, i do not usually read them but i can read them without a problem.

I think it's just the matter of how ugly the obi is for the oversea's version Giggle
in my own ai-chin's collection I have a mix of Japanese and Taiwanese editions
(because some first press only come in Jpn edition)
The Japanese editions look so pretty when I line them up onto my shelf but the Taiwanese ones look....ugh..because it's all blue and white (avex's colour) and they all look the same Blank stare

Can't tell any real differences between my overseas CDs and my japan version CDs, so I guess I'll take anything haha!

As long as the CDs work by the time I get them and that they're no bootlegs ><

They said that Japanese version of CD music usually have THICKER both of CDs and the jewel case.

Another thing that I know is that the Japanese CD music plays music a little louder than most of the overseas version. I mean the clarity of the sound is better.

I don't know if it is true.......

I'm thinking of buying Dir En Grey Greatest Hits, Aiko, and Utada Hikaru and they seem to have NO significant advantages than overseas version.

when I go to Narita airport in the next two weeks, I'm thinking of buying all those CDs, but you guys make it look like I could just go ahead and buy the cheaper version as long as they are official released.

On the Japanese edition, the little paper on the spine matches the color of the cd Case. For overseas edition usually (of course there is some labels who don't, but for artist under Avex and JE) the paper is always just white with blue text. Personally, the matching color is cooler but I'm not too strict on that. Usually I buy Japanese edition for Artist I'm really into and collect their discographies of (because of collectors reason), and for the artist that I maybe downloaded a few of their songs and kind of like I buy overseas edition.

And seriously, even if there is a different in sound, it's not really enough to notice. And if it is quieter, it's not going to be a lot, it's just like turn up your music player one sound level up then.
