vote for ai-chin, i think ai has some unique qualities that others don't have!!
she's cute, crazy , funny, beautiful, someimes kind of weird...ha
and her lyrics are inspiring! simply wonderful |

I voted for Ai-Chan, I really don't like Ayumi now when I look closed to her and her songs aren't that good anymore..I only like couple of her songs. A lot of her songs doesn't suit my taste anymore..
Whether ayumi has plastic surgery or not, whether she looks the same when she's younger or whatever. And yes, she is pretty, gorgeous, looks like a barbie doll, or even have pretty eyes. I don't think she's that pretty anymore when I just looked closer and that's just my opinion *even my mom said agrees with me when I showed her a picture.* I think she just wore too much make up to make her face more prettier and she also dyed her hair to blonde which a lot of asian celebrities does that. I think ayu looks more natural if she just put light make up on like for ex. put on some light eye shadow and some light lip gloss, and a little bit power to cover any area on the face. I just really hate a lot of celebrities I've seen to have wore so much make up on their face that makes me think that there not who they are and just make them look uglier, and uglier.
One thing for sure is that having natural beauty is the best..even if ayumi is voted to be the prettiest...she can't compare to the beauty of a natural person with a natural looking face. And there's nothing wrong with people with heavy make up on..it just that it changes the whole figure of a person..and they don't look the same. I like celebrity with out make up on*yes I am sort of weird* but hey it's better than there so called new face..and ayumi is on the list of "Not so natural."
She's pretty I agree with "most" everyone and I have been saying that a lot...but sometimes she just creeps me..out with her looks. I think that when she's in high school...the pictures..she looks really pretty and innocent, but compare to the present..there seem to be a big gap......
P.S I think there should be a book that contains pictures of celebrities with there natural looks on it and we should vote..on that... I'm just interested in that..
P.S.S. All these are my opinions on how I view them, don't take it too offensive b/c it is my view and please respect that |

*Waves* Hello? I completely agree. Hikki is by far better than Ayu&&Ai. Though, they're three of my favourite J-Pop divas, i just think Utada has more depth to her voice and music. Out of the choice though? I'm thinking maybe Ayu... her music speaks to me more. BUT! Ai appeals to me more as a person, not a singer. Does that make sense? I don't really like Ayu's image all that much...

From what I've heard of the tracks of both artists, I feel that Ai is more consistent in producing great music (basically everything other than Happy Birthday, god I can't stand that song), while Ayumi is having a lot of ups and downs (Ups such as A Song For XX, Evolution, Inspire, Chobits, etc / Downs such as Bold and Delicious(ugh))
Thus I vote Ai as her songs generally appeal to me much more than Ayumi's.

| Otsuka Ai all the way! All the stuff I heard from Ayumi was just plain terrible! I couldn't bring myself to hear more. However I may have just been unlucky and scored the type of songs I dislike...I explored Otsuka Ai more and found way more enjoyable music from her anyway, so therefore: Vote Ai! |

i vote Ai otsuka.
ayumi hamasaki is great, she's a very good one. though, recently, her songs are getting boring... i mean, it wasn't like before.

i don't think its about ayu and ai already. now its koda kumi and ai. XD
anyway, i used to like ayumi.. her songs are catchy and she's like a doll, so small and likeable. but otsuka ai had taken over ayumi in my heart when i heard planetarium. hehe. and the more i know about ai the more i love her!  |

She does. Most of her summer and ballad singles feature a lot of natural looking/light make up. It's just that she experiments a lot with make up styles all year round. She's a fashion leader and it's expected to see her with different styles and make up.

True but few people want to see a J-Pop star with "natural beauty" and it gets old very fast. Considering most of J-Pop is about looks, make up is an essential part for many stars. That's why the people who are voted to be the prettiest are the ones who are able to exploit make up best and change their image. Sure some people might prefer natural but then I'd rather see a normal person on the street. Only a few artists manage with truly "natural" looks and trust me the "natural" look has a lot of heavy make up too. I understand how you feel because I love natural make up but in reality only few artists can get away with it in the J-Pop scene. |

Agreed with Rinoa. Most of the artists that looked "natural" has just as much makeup on as the artist that looked "heavily done". It takes a lot of makeup to make a feature look "neutral" under lighting.
For example, Ai supposedly looks natural, but it's not because of light makeup. No one looks like that under natural lighting no matter how little makeup they wear. So for Ai to look that natural under various lighting and everything, they would have to put tons of foundations and stuff on her to achieve that neutral affect. There are more than one color of eye-liner and eye-shadow. Just because the color is more skin tone doesn't make Ai wear less make up than say, Ayumi and Koda Kumi. All artist wears layers of makeup, it's part of the entertainment industry.
Anyways I think it's also the facial structures. I think Ayu's suited for more makeup with her type of face (she has the really large eyes and has the facial structures) that I think would look more suitable with heavier and darker makeup.
Even Utada Hikaru, who probably is very natural looking, still wears tons of makeup. |

Being honest, Ai Otsuka pwns.
I hate Ayumi Hamasaki. I just can't get into her music. I've heard a few of her songs and they're just noise in my opinion. I still can't understand why she's so huge.  |

| I vote Ai-chan but I love both of them and anyway. Ayumi's lastest songs are sooo bleh, while when you compare them with Ai's...well you know . But for the poll, its more Ai one - sided because this IS an Ai-chan fan forum so Ai would win of course. They are both very good artists. |
