I promised that there will be a new contest during the Christmas holidays so here it is, the first ever Channel-Ai Karaoke Contest.
Rules:
- Only one entry allowed per contestant
- Only Ai-chin's songs are allowed
- Only Ai-chin's original lyrics are allowed
- Submitted audio must be in mp3 format
- Contest entry should be uploaded to paid or free host such as YSI or MU
- To enter the contest, PM me or Jason with a link to your Karaoke mp3
- Contest entry must be your own personal work (i.e. your own singing)
- No software should be used to alter your voice e.g. changing the pitch.
- You can only use software to merge your vocal with the instrumental track
- Deadline: 10:00 PM EST, January 20, 2006 (Friday)
Evaluation:
- All the submitted entires will be judged by the active members of Channel-Ai. (active members are those having 20 posts and above)
- If there is a tie in the final result, a second round of voting will be conducted
- All the submitted entries will be shown anonymously during the poll. Contestants must not influence other voters' judgement on the entries
- There will only be one final winner
- eyn and Jason reserves the final right to determine who is the winner
Tips:
- You should pick songs that already have official instrumental tracks, but you are allowed to make your own instrumental tracks too for your entry needs
- Try to use a good recording software that will eliminate ambience noise
- When merging your vocal track with the instrumental track, try to adjust the volume level such that neither the background music or your vocal stand out too much (i.e. over loud)
- Start preparing your entry early, or you won't make the deadline with decent work
Organizer:
All rules are simple and straightforward, entries that violates any of these rules will be disqualified. If you have any question regarding the rules, just post a question here.
Prize for this contest will be Ai-chin's upcoming 11th single (Japanese version) that has not yet been announced. The winner can choose between the CD only version or CD+DVD version, but not both.
I'm looking forward for your entries, do take note that this contest is not limited to girls only, guys can also pull out really awesome karaoke too, even if it's an Ai-chin song. Good luck to all the participants, and I hope everyone have fun taking part in this contest. |

| Hmm, I'm curious: on what factor will people vote? Similarity to Ai's style or best voice overall? |

Okay, this topic need more exposure, only 30+ people has read this topic so far, that's definitely not a good sign! (and it shows we have more leechers than members who actually care what's going on here )
Regarding Lainay's question, I think it should be best voice overall, first of all it's hard to sing exactly the way as Ai-chin did, and 2nd it's better to set your own style instead of mimic others, afterall it's not a mimic contest, right? |

It won't be any Karaoke contest for a long long time. You should participate in this one instead of waiting for the next. We'll be having different contest, so yeah, this time is Karaoke, so grab your chance!

I might write one myself specially for this contest, but there's no promise and for now, you can find quite a few helpful tutorial on Google. I browse through a few of them and they aren't that bad at all. |

Interesting contest. I do hope a lot of members do apply for this one. I probably won't since I'm really bad at singing but good luck for those who do |

| can we have back-up voices for small portion of the song? for example, Happy Days, can we have other shouting 'happy days' during the chorus? |

Sure, definitely, as long as the main singer is you, small portion of backup singing should be fine. |
