I knew this like six months ago but I keep forgetting to mention it here or blog about it.
Anyways, if anyone is interested in the actual diary that this series is based on there is an actual translated book out there that exist.
I know some ppl have manged to get a hold of it via bookstores in Singapore or Taiwan
I did an ISBN search and eventually found
THIS
I actually manged to get a copy from by a ridiculous manner but it's a good read. It's also very sad but you'll notice lots of differences.
I've watched the movie from this drama as well a while back however they're two very different views of the story as they had different directors and producers not to mention a different cast. I wouldn't consider this spoiling the series or the movie but the movie is closer to the reality in the book than the series.
The series has it's own pros though. It does have a great cast and I personally felt that in the series Aya's family rallies around and supports Aya more. This is one aspect of the series that I really love because I feel that when someone gets a disease/disorder/medical condition it not only affects that person but the people (their immediate family and close friends) whom they hold dear to their heart.
The series did a great job of how this affected the whole Ikeuchi clan (though that's not the real Aya's last name, I think the director chose to do this so that people would be award that this isn't entirely based on what really happened to the real Aya and that some of what goes on is fictionalized to fit the series). How it affected her mother, her father and even her siblings. |

| I wonder if i can find the book here in Malaysia. Chances are slim but i'll try and find the book in Japanese based book stores like Kinokuniya. As for the real name of Aya, is it Kitou or something like that? |

Well the person that recommended this book to me originally got it from a Kinokuniya bookstore. So they might have it there. Though he said he got it from one of the stores in Singapore.
Oh yea and as far as I know her real name is Aya Kito. |

| The Kinokuniya bookstores in Singapore have a better variety than those in Malaysia. I should have bought it when i was in Takashimaya in Singapore last year. Thanks for the info anyway. I will make sure that i check the whole Kinokuniya book store when i go shopping. |
