^ I SERIOUSLY doubt ayu plagiarized HYDE. I also SERIOUSLY doubt ai plagiarized all these artists. I mean ALL THOSE ARTISTS. There is no way she will be able to keep it up with everyone that she's supposedly stealing from. And these are some big name acts, too. Mr.Children, Chara, L'Arc~en~Ciel, THE YELLOW MONKEY, aiko...seriously. They've sold more records than Ai, I'm sure that anyone would pick any plagiarism out.

People are reading too much into this. No every melody crafted is 100% original, it's just not possible. Besides, many of these melodies are pretty simple, so similarities with those from other songs are gonna happen. There are only so many possible notes in the world that can be formed into a decent melody. Sure, that's thousands of melodies, but there are more than thousands of songs.

Eh, whatever. I do love "JAM" bye YEMON (and don't see major similarities between that and "kuroge wagyuu joushio TANyaki 680-en"), and sorry, but "forbidden lover" owns "Strawberry Jam". And "evergreen" and "HEAVEN" are in two different categories of ballads, so yeah.

That's all. whatever. Sneeze

I finally got the chance to go through ALL the comparisons. When I heard 'their' version of PLANETARIUM, they sped it up in attempt to make it sound like Mr. Children's song.

Now I realise this person is just out to get Otsuka Ai. No

i voted for 'Are you kidding? No way!', simply because i really thought so.
Firstly, if u just compare the lyrics, it's just the phrase 'ikitai yo' that is the same. oh come on...many songs also have the similar phrases. are u going to accuse a singer plagiarising another singer's song just because the song has a same phrase e.g.'i love u'? that's kinda dumb.
Secondly, the instruments used for Suteki Da Ne and Planetarium is not really the same. Suteki Da Ne has more of string-instruments sounds like violin while Planetarium has more of both piano and flute sound. i dont pretend to be a musician or a music expert but this is what my ears tell me. a number of u guys say that Suteki Da Ne and Planetarium sound the same or similar, but which part?? Confused
Thirdly, regarding both the PV, it's just that few scenes of Planetarium that look like Suteki Da Ne. they add up to only a few seconds, compared to the 5+ mins of both PVs. in the Suteki Da Ne PV, there are some scenes of Rikki singing in a forest. r u guys also going to accuse Ai-san of plagiarising because in her Momo No Hanabira PV, she's also singing in a forest? that's just bullshit, dont u agree? Laughing

it's coincidence. Heck, sure I thought that the vid does parralels Suteki Da Ne vid but still the song as whole is a different package altogether with a different feel.

BTW, I am a fan of both Suteki Da ne and planetarium. To me similarities of a few bars is nothing compared to singers who do covers of other ppl's songs but dare to pass it off as their own.

Its kind of like.."hey that singers video also has the sky, and a red flower in it..oh dear! plagiarism!"
It doesn't really matter, its probally a coincidence.

First of all, plagerism is plagerism...
everyone plagerizes honestly...its just a matter of how it is said...
when i was little, my sister always copied me...n i hated it...
but my mom said to me...Good things/ideas are meant to be shared...
however there should be a limited degree to how much one copies...
this is probably not a coincidence but I believe that Ai Chin probably felt a little guilty when she did it and probably that will prompt her not to do it again! Confused

Exactly. Just because a certain something has some particular element, does it mean you aren't allowed to use it elsewhere?

Absolutely no one would plagiarise that much. If people truly understand Otsuka Ai, they'd know she'd never go to such a crazy extent.

Such a grey, awkward line between plaigiarizing and inspiration.

If you ask me what's the difference between plagiarism and inspiration, I would say plagiarized work are always inferior compared to the original version because it has no soul itself. Inspired work, on the other hand, can be 10 times better than the original version even though they might share some similar traits. Wink

Still, we do not know if Ai-chin is inspired by any of those works she was accused of plagiarizing. She might have composed them all by herself without being inspired by any of these works and the similarities might be just coincidence.

Wow! I thought I was the only person that realized that... They do sound alike but I'm sure no one tried to rip anybody's song...

Thanks for posting the link though.

You guys just reminded me, the ikitaiyo part sounds exactly the same. No wonder it sounded like I heard it elsewhere.

Bear in mind I do like Ai, so please don't take offence, but I think Ai tends to lift. She does so much composing that maybe every now and then she has to rely on inspiration from others... And to those who claim it's the company's decision on what the PV ought to look like, I guess you're not the ones who are constantly praising Ai about how talented and creative she is.
