Currently:
YUI's 4th single, "TOKYO" was just released and isn't selling too well...BUT her first album is to be released on February 22, 2006! The release date is almost exactly a year after her official debut. YUI the singer/songwriter is also turning into YUI the actress! She is preparing for the premiere of her first starring role in a movie, "Taiyou no Uta" ("A Song to the Sun").
______________
I like YUI because she produces music that's so different from everything that's out there in the J-Pop world. She writes all her songs herself with nothing but her guitar, and she's 18 freakin' years old! Sometimes it's nice to take a break from the fast-paced stuff that's popular right now and turn on something like "TOKYO" or "Tomorrow's way" and just chill out. It's still really early in her career so there's still so much room for her to grow, which excites me. After "LIFE" was released I was starting to get a little bored with her music, but after I received "TOKYO" everything feels fresh again (in fact, expect an article about it at the community blog tomorrow!), which is great. I can't wait for her new album because she's not limited to a few tracks like she would be with a new single and it's not loaded down with b-sides, which means more new stuff. I can't wait to see what she'll offer us.
I hope you guys will enjoy this (took me forever to complete!) and please give me your thoughts about YUI! |

Woot. It was about time!!!
YUI is such an incredibly talented artist. She composes fantastic songs, and her lyrics are good also, albeit there can be some shoddy engrish.... "scare lil boy" got me hard.
Anyhow, I can't wait for her full length album!! I might even consider buying it. |

im glad u started this thread, because i was thinking of doing it as soon as i found the time, my exams over, i come here and you've beat me to it. ^_^
YUI is absolutely amazing i think, her talent is undeniable and she has that unique voice which sets her apart from most of the other popular stuff.
TOKYO is my favorite YUI track, i cannot get enough of that song. i bought the single, the pv makes me sad everytime i watch it, but yes the single is awesome. i've already got my eye on a brand new copy of her new album on amazon.co.jp and ill buy it as soon as it goes on pre-order.

oh I didn't come here since a long time too Yes I love YUI too and I preordered her album as soon as I heard about it ^^ So far my top 5 is Tomorrow's way, HELP, feel my soul, Why me & TOKYO.
As you said I think YUI is different from the other artists too ; look at her perf of TOKYO at Melodix of January 28 : She's sitting on the ground (and the public too) and she's playing an accoustic version ^^. She could be in a summer camp it would be the same ^^
And about her movie, I was really surprised by the trailer the first time I watched it. Because I didn't know that an introvert girl like her could play so well ^^ She's really cute
Oh for the single "It's happy line", it was released the 2004.12.24. |

Hi tear welcome to the forums. It's nice that you want to discuss with us, but you really shouldn't type in all-caps. It's considered shouting and is not proper "netiquette". It's nice that you're excited, but it shouldn't be expressed in all-caps for all your posts.
Anyway, I actually think there -was- a YUI thread, but it died. Oh, nvm, it was changed into a Youhna thread.
YUI is great. I love the single "LIFE" so much. I really like the cover art for her new album, and I'm looking forward to hearing some of the new songs. She has great potential as a singer-songwriter, but maybe it's my weakness for the acoustic guitar. (I also have a weakness for pianos and saxophones, etc. ) |

Can't wait till I have some more money, so I can order her album. but right now I'm broke, since I've spend a lot of money on other asian cds, such as Ai. |

Thanks for the correction, I updated the discography.
YUI's official site just updated with the new "FROM ME TO YOU" theme! There's a short sample of a song playing in the intro to the site and it sounds pretty awesome. No word on what the song title is yet, though. The pictures used in the site are pretty amazing too, because it looks like there's a lot more energy than a normal YUI photoshoot! From the photos it seems YUI is going to change her style a little with this album, maybe moving away from mostly acousticy stuff and adding a slight rock edge. Maybe we'll see her playing the electric guitar in some live performances, huh? Exciting!
Anyone else getting totally pumped for the new album? |

That would be good.... a full length acoustic album wouldn't be as exciting.... I don't want to see her doing hard rock though.... however if she went a bit more pop, or a more depressing ballad, would be very nice. |

YUI really reminds me of Michelle Branch. She's such an amazing artist. I love her acoustic guitar style, and her lyrics. I wouldn't want to see her change this style, because it's quite a bit of what sets her apart from the other female artists currently on the charts. It's actually nice to have something different for a change.
I'm excited to see that her first album is coming out soon! With the way her singles have climbed the charts, there's no doubt she'll do well!
This is a great thread, btw. I can tell you put a lot of hard work into it! |

The song is Merry Go Round. This song was on Sonic Junction FM radio and was captured by amimis (from Jpopmusic.com).
