| Ohh! I want to watch devil wears prada, too! I saw the commercial and the girl's jacket in one of the scenes reminds me of the one the guitarist of AILE wears... |

| I just finished watching 2046 with this girl I like and for once I was distracted by her. The movie is breath-taking and told in an a strange way. The sequence of events is jumbled but it all falls into place eventually. It is also a visually appealing movie; each frame looks like a work of art. After the movie she told me that "In the Mood for Love" was directed by the same person, Kar Wai Wong, and that I'd like that one too. So as of yesterday I've been on the look out for "In The Mood for Love" |

Wow, good on you Jester! I sat through 2046 with no idea of what was going on. I just couldn't understand what was actually happening. The jumbling of events really was just too confusing for me.... But I agree, the scenes were very very mesmerising simply because of the set and costumes and lighting, I'm sure it would have meant a lot more had I understood the actual plot.
As of right now, after recently discussing Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince with my friend (AGAIN!), I can't wait for the 5th movie!! It's so far away.... but I can't help it! Harry's too awesome!! |

i agree with bebe on the "tokyo friends" movie.
@jester
2046 is indeed awesome. it's actually a sequel of sorts to "in the mood for love". so yes, definately watch it ifyou can.
i recently bought a dvd on amazon.co.jp called "taiyou no uta". it's stars YUI ... yey. i'v been waiting for the movie to come out on dvd for so long. nw i can finally watch it. they're starting a new drama series this season of the same name following the same story with sawajiri erika playing the character thar YUI plays in the movie. shibasaki kou is doing the theme song for the drama. expect a post in the jdrama section of this forum once it starts.
but yes its the movie that i want to see. to remind people, fans of yui will remember her recent single "good-bye days" where she credits herself as YUI for Amane Kaouru. that song is the theme of the movie and Amane Kaoru is the name of the character that YUI plays in the film.
so yes, given the silly amount of time it takes for items to ship from japan, i might have to wait another week or so before i get my dvd.
i really really want to see that film.

| Oh yes, my friend wants to watch "Death Note" too, so maybe some time we're going to see it, too. Lol, when I first heard the murderer's name, I was thinking: "what, his name's 'shiny'? Sure sounds scary" lol, and then my friend told me it was supposed to be translated like the word "killer" haha. |

Haha, your conversation went off the tracks somewhere. The main characters name is Raito Yagami which'll translate to Light Yagami; that's probably where you got the shiny from. The name that is given to him by the media is Kira which has an obvious connection to the word "killer". I've been itching to watch this movie for awhile too because I've read as far as I can on Spectrum Nexus. It'll be really interesting to see how they play around with this one.
My cousin just showed me a preview for an action movie translated to Dragon Tiger Gate that I'm really excited for because it simply looks ridiculously action packed and the trailer already had me on the edge of my seat.

Jester, I'm pretty sure tsumetai.ame was referring to the Japanese term/phrase kira kira (キラキラ) which basically means "shining/sparkling" or "sparkle-sparkle".
It is a phenomime (word representing non-auditory sense/happening). Sometimes referred to as Japanese Sound Symbolism, it is similar to an onomatopoeia (word that imitates the sound it's describing).
Hope this clarifies things a bit!
[I, too, am interested in seeing the Death Note movie, but I heard it wasn't very good... There's two of them, tho. The story (only involving 'L') was too long and had to be split... I'm not sure if the second has already come out yet... ] |
