Well, I think things are getting a little heated up here. Calm down people, it's just a fun and exciting contest, don't let the criticism steal the spotlight. Tongue I think kikubelle is trying to give everyone constructive comments and mean absolutely no harm. She's probably just a little too frank with her opinions, instead of holding them off to make it all sound softer. Still, do remember it's just her opinion, if she doesn't like one entry doesn't mean you can't like it. If anyone feel offended by her comments, I apologize for not explicitly mentioning "don't be harsh on your coments". Still, she deserved to be praised for writing detailed comment on each entry, and I believe some contestants will find them helpful even they aren't that nice to hear. One last word, don't be harsh in your comment because some of contestants really didn't entered the contest to be criticized too seriously, more like they entered because they like this community.

I hope more people can express their opinion on each entry whenever possible, like the way kikubelle did it. One thing, I strongly believe all contestants would like to know how well they do, and what's your opinion about their entry. Just try to be a little softer when you're criticising, you can probably mention which area needs to be improved if you aren't all that satisfied. Also, when you're trying to write opinions about each entry, you are digesting what you hear and it helps you make a better overall choice in the end.

Keep your opinions coming, show me what how strong and tighly-knitted this community really is. Nod

all the entries were amazing! for me, it came down to 4 entries: entry 2 - PLANETARIUM, entry 6 - Kingyo Hanabi, entry 9 - PLANETARIUM, entry 11 - Kuroge Wagyuu Joushio Tanyaki 680-en

entry 2: i sense that you were having trouble with "breathing", like, you always seem to be gasping for air between every few verses. but even thou you always seem out of breath, i was amazed at how well you hold the longer notes (i.e., the last part of the song) anything that got me fustrated is that you seem to be "pounding" out the lyrics. i don't really know how to explain it, but it's something like this: da BANG da BANG da BANG...etc. (not the best way to explain it...) that would have sound okay with an upbeat song like Happy Days. but with a "smoothing" ballad like PLANETARIUM, it just seem kinda out of place. and for some of the entry, i think you could have ligthten it a little.

entry 6: first of all, i got to sing that i'm not a big fan of this song. so before i even listen to the entry, i was thinking: let see if this entry is good enough to give me second thoughts about this song. know what, it did! same comment as entry 2, you seem to be "pounding" out the lyrics and a few entry were a bit too force/hard. i think it's because you were trying so hard to bring out your emotions, cause i did get a 'emotion' vibe while listening to the song.

entry 9: i think it's because of the mic, your voice sounds like it's been alter with the computer. that's actually one of the reason that drew me in. you were vibrating your voice at some of the part, great add-on to the overall sound. and because of that, at some parts of the song, i felt you did a better job than ai! then there were some part that felt empty. i can't really say why it sounded that way... maybe cause the pitch wasn't right right on?

entry 11: i like how you played around with parts of the song by singing it twice and combined it together, that sounded great. imo, this is a really hard song to do: it's an upbeat song but at the same time, it's a ballad too. so you can't really have a bouncy voice like Happy Days and you can't push all the love-emotion out like Cherish. it's kind of like a playful kiddie love song (sort of like amaenbo). you didn't use a bouncy tone to sing this song (which is good). i hear your emotions, but i think you could have turn the notch up a bit more.

I listened to all. I like the spirit in a lot of them, and could especially appreciate the bravery of everyone who entered. It's very hard to put yourself out there.

In the end, I had to go with 11, but it was close with a couple of others. Nod

props to the guys for having the guts to do this!!
i never made it in on time, i don't think i have the guts to have done it anyway though!

it's hard to sing girl's songs guys! keep working at it and practice lots! pitch is always gonna be an issue for guys singing girls songs cause generally most guys aren't built to cover as vast a range, but with this can be defeated with enough practice! don't give up!

girls! props to yall too!! i was glad to hear a lot of you putting your own feel into the songs instead of just following how ai would have done it! eyn mentioned that in his pointers at the beginning! i'm glad that it turned out good!!

i think for any singer, it's important to hear yourself
so make a good habit of listening to your recordings over and over!
i'm sure most of you did that though!

keep up the good work yall! i can't wait for the second contest!!

good game yall!

My comment.

Contestant 1: Just wondering did you play the piano yourself... Fairly good. Deserve extra mention if you did play it yourself.

Contestant 2: Sounds like a Japanese speaker but dont know wheter you do speak japanese or not. Consistent and I like it

Contestant 3: Great Job. You do have spirit and courage. Good luck

Contestant 4: Trying to sing the song on a low note is definetly unique and different from the original and those submited by othe user. Abit flat though

Contestant 5: Your singing with your head voice or is that your chest voice? Abit in inconsistent and it seems the song dont suit you. You have a cute voice though Smile

Contestant 6: At first I thought it was Ai... WOW You sounds like Ai and Ayu! If this is a sound-a-like contest you will definitly be the winner.

Contestant7: Dont force yourself to sing the long notes. You shouldnt have recorded this in one shot. Nice try though Smile

Contestant8: Out of tune sometimes. You overdid it. Nice try though Smile

Contestant9: It would be better if you encode the song at a lower bitrate. Quite good. Great job.

Contestant10: I didnt see this coming... It would be better if you place the mic abit further at sometime.

Contestant11: It would be alot better if you sing a slow song. You've a great vocal and your entry is definetly one of the best in this contest.

Contestant12: Should get some help to record the song. Can't say much coz the quality isn't good enough to be judge.

Need to listen to all the entry a couple of time more before i vote.

Channe Ai-dol. Nice name!

Edited: Voted Entry 11! Good luck Giggle

Maybe it's time for me, the organizer, to express my opinion about each of the entries. Smile

Contestant 1: Your voice is a little too soft, maybe you're not confident enough about your voice? Sing out loud will definitely help, you have a good voice, go for it! There's a few section where you are not in pace with the song, it's almost like you're chasing the music, sort of. I think you are about to laugh at one point because you can't keep up, I don't know if I'm right though, I find it kinda cute. Smile Nice use of piano version of Sakuranbo, although I think the original instrumental might have given a better overall feeling.

Contestant 2: You sound a little off in the first phrase, but other than that it's pretty cool. The skipping is a little annoying, maybe you can improve the recording next time. Nice voice, keep it up! Nod

Contestant 3: This entry rocks. I admire your bravery and passion for taking part in this contest, that's exactly what I'm looking for! I really lmao when I heard this entry, you're just too funny. Okay, I say all these because I know who the contestant is and he won't be offended, haha. Boogie

Contestant 4: Low pitch version of Daisuki dayo, interesting. Smile Your notes in this song are not perfect, but still pleasant to the ear, I reckon. Smile I'm really happy to get entries from male contestants. Even though they know they have a very slim chance of winning when compete with female contestants, they still took part in the contest to show their community spirit, that's really touching! Crying

Contestant 5: Your voice is almost too cute for this song, since this song is supposed to be quite sad and melancholy, cute voice is probably not that suitable here. Tongue I'm thinking maybe you'll do better in songs like SMILY, Happy Days or Momo no Hanabira. You know, those slightly fast paced song that makes you happy. I notice you entered some of the phrase earlier than you should, and seems to rush a little in some parts, but those are just some minor flaw. Overall, I like it. Smile

Contestant 6: Okay, this one is truely underrated. Come on, doesn't this entry sound a little too pro to be in this contest? The vocal is top notch for an amateur, and the tempo, notes etc. are well handled. The only flaw I noticed is that you didn't hold some of the notes long enough, for example the "yugao" part. The sudden cut off really cut off a lot of marks if someone is to judge the overall quality by minor sections like that, it gives an "unfinished" overall feel because it's near the end of the song. One more thing, be more confident with your voice. One of the best entry for this contest IMO, congrats!

Contestant 7: Okay, this song is one of the hardest to sing IMO, you're very brave to have picked this song, and it's rather well executed if you ask me. The notorious long holding of the "i" sound is very hard to sing if you don't have proper breathing techniques, I'm surprised that you managed to hold those notes pretty well, even though your voice get a little shaky after a while. Tongue No worries, you have my respect for picking this song, and honestly, not much people could have pull this out as well as you did, it's just a really tough song to start with.

Contestant 8: Nice vocal, like your confidence about your voice. Your modification to the song is nice and creative, but it hurts a little when it comes to voting since many people don't know how to judge a self-modified version of songs and based their judgement on how well it sounds compared to the original version. I love your creativeness and confidence, good stuff! Nod

Contestant 9: This is the earliest submitted entry for this contest, turn out to be one of the entry that get the most votes too, that's really cool! Somehow the instrumental sounds a little loud at some part, esp. the ethereal background backup vocal. Your voice sounds a little restrained, I don't know why, it's like something is holding your voice so they can't roam freely. That does deduce some marks when I'm judging your entry. Overall, you executed this song pretty well, and deserved to be praised for that!

Contestant 10: This is the last entry submitted for this contest. I think you don't have the intention to actually win in this contest right? Well, that's the destiny of all male contestants' entry I guess, still, your braveness and passion for participating in the contest will be remembered! You should control the distance between your mouth and the mic because in some section you sounded really loud, maybe you're too high while recording and subconsciously grabbing the mic while singing lol. Tongue

Contestant 11: Seems like your entry is the most popular one so far, you have a high chance of winning, good luck! The song is well sang, all the notes are right on, as expected from someone with some music background (shh...) The self-made chorus really makes your entry stands out, I guess that's the main reason why your entry is so popular. It gives the music a richer feeling by having both bass and treble vocal running at the same time. A very creative addition, and the vote result so far proves that it works!

Contestant 12: The recording quality really ruin your chance of getting votes from others. Some people complained that they can't hear your singing too well, maybe you can improve your recording quality next time by getting advice from other contestants that manage to record their voice perfectly. It's recomended that you don't record the songs using mic, only record your voice, then blend with the original instrumental. The singing sounds decent, the notes are right on, just the quality of the recording needs to be improved. Smile

---

Wow, takes me forever to type this posting! Anyway, I do this as my appreciation for everyone who participated, all of you deserve to get decent comment for your hardwork. I hope my comment is somehow useful, and I hope none of you will be offended by what I said.

Still a few more days till the poll closed, those of you who haven't vote, do take your time to listen to all the entries and give the best entry your blessing i.e. a vote for them to win.

just listened to entry 2... you went off-key at quite a few points during the song and you sounded a bit strained... i think you'll sound significantly better without the skipping though... Confused

Good luck to everyone who has submitted something. I'm not sure if it is good to "laugh" at someone's entry, although it will be safe to keep that in your mind. <_< I can't vote yet since i do not have internet at home. I'll just say 'good luck' to those who have submitted and may the best win.
