it was horrible, it was great britain against japan in the women's curling. i didn't know who to cheer for
it was such a close game but japanese percision won them the game over the olympic champions... yey! i was rooting for them!!
but wait, this means that the gbr team now HAS to win their game tomorrow night and then hope that japan beats switzerland tomorrow for a there to be a chance for them to qualify. if japan beat switzerland tomorrow, then they along with switzerland, canada and gbr, go into the semis.
yey i will be rooting for both my country of residence, gbr, and my wannabe country of residence, japan tomorrow... plus i think i finally understand curling
dammit why does india (my country of birth) not take part in the winter olympics... oh yeah, its a hot country that's why

Ack! I knew they were Chinese! *headdeask* I even remember the huge story they did about their coach and the work he did to get Chinese figure skaters to the Olympics. Their names are something like Zhang and Zhang, right? I remember they had the same surname, but weren't related. *random*
As for describing the new system... That's hard. I will link you to the blog of past Olympian Michael Weiss, who has described the new system pretty well. At least in my opinion.
Michael Weiss on the new judging system.
His entire figure skating blog is terribly interesting and worth a read if you're into skating or want to understand more about what's going on with it at the Olympics.
If I can find some more links that explain the judging systems, hopefully a compare and contrast, I'll edit this entry and add the links in. |

| i feel sorry for Michelle Kwan not able to participate in the figure skating even t in Turin. She is so talented, but due to her long-existing injury and recent one she got from practices, she can't participate. =( hopefully Sasha Cohen will bring U.S a gold in this event. I think she is a charming young lady. |

i guess that's it for 2006 huh? anyone watched the closing ceremony? i only watch parts of it, but my sister taped the whole thing for me!
canada actually did really well, very very proud of all those athletics! and i hope the men hockey team learned something: being a canadian and having gretzky as a coach doesn't automatically make you a champ, you have to work for it!
vancouver 2010! i had mix feeling when i saw this: over joy, that it's vancouver's time. blah, because.. of the mayor. and they had to do a short docmentary on him to make him look good! |

How great was Shizuka Arakawa winning the Gold medal in figure skating? First ever gold for Japan in figure skating and their first medal of the games! I still hate that Sasha Cohen got Silver. I totally don't think that was fair. I don't see how you can fall twice and still win a medal when so many other people put in clean programs. (Fumie Sugurie, for one!) I'm hoping that by 2010 they'll have worked out the kinks in the new scoring system or kicked it out completely.
I have the closing ceremonies on tape. I'll probably be watching them sometime tonight or later this week. I hope going into the 2010 Olympics that they won't put the athlete's up on an impossible pedastol, like they did for so many this year. It only puts pressure on them, in my opinion, and overshadows the other athletes that have worked just as hard to get there. Of course, this is the Olympics, and it seems that they always manage to do this to some extent just to get ratings.
I'm crossing my fingers and toes for Michelle Kwan and hoping that she'll be able to compete in 2010. She's not the type of skater to give up without a fight, and she loves to compete because she loves the sport and the competition.
We've got four years to see how things progress. Who knows what athletes will be at the 2010 games! |
