Channel-Ai v.2

Author Message
What's your opinion about the closing of Channel-Ai for almost a week?

I missed it very much
I think the closing is a little too harsh
I don't really care
I'm going to leave this forum

I was so sad when I heard that Channel-Ai would close though i haven't been active the last few weeks.
it would have been really horrible if it had been closed for forever - i'm more than glad it's back and I plan to be more active again.
anyway, the new layout is very nice but hard to handle and not as clearly laid out as the one's before. but it's definitly very stylish and unique.

I was also shocked that the forum got closed...... so I had nothing to do online for a while..... I missed it a lot, too and was really worried that it would close down forever.... But I understand why it had to be closed...
.....As for the new forum style... I have to admit it really does make me feel refreshed in a way...of course I miss the old one..but I'm sure I can get used to this one..... Thanks for putting the site back up!

I really missed it very much.

Before this forums came back, I didn't have my own account. I used my sister account. But I think I should have my own account, when this forum's opened again so I registered.

I really like new forum. It looks easy and simple.

I recieved email from eyn and took a look of new layout and didn't like it at all but don't have time to say anything; so do you mean it the channel-ai version 2 ??? I like this layout more ... It looks perfect for me.

About the new rule for download section; I;ve nothing to defend Wink

I missed it so much!!! Before I went to camp, it wasn't working, and I thought there was a server problem.

Then I came back from camp and checked my email, and then I knew the whole story....

But it's for the better of this community... so Smile

Okay, this posting is about the gallery. I'm sick of maintaining it all by myself, how about you guys start to upload some pictures to the gallery when you find them from other sites into the correct category or place them under miscellaneous?

Ever wondering why everytime you visit the gallery and there's no new picture? Think about it, new picture don't appear there out of nowhere, it's there because people upload them, get how this system works? Please don't expect me or kikubelle to be the only person updating the gallery, it belongs to the community so do your part and share whatever picture you find elsewhere!

Okay, I might sound a little desperate in this posting but that's exactly how I feel as an admin. Everyone just come and take and never think why things are there in the first place. So please contribute to make the gallery a better place for all other Ai-chin fans.

I really hope to see the gallery become more active and people actually post comment on pictures when they see some nice ones. No picture to share? Share your opinion through comment then. Thank you. In case you haven't read my signature, give it a read now. Wink

edit: Please do not post spam comment in the gallery, the same rules applies there as well. Comment on what you think not a simply thank you without any content.

What happened to the team/plan to screencap Ai's PV's and post the caps to the gallery? I was all ready to do this and it kind of died. Maybe we need to start this up again. One thing I think that would take the gallery over the top would be to have at least all of her PV's screencapped. Confused

I'll search through some of my files and see if I have any random/misc Ai images to add. They may be old, but it'll be nice to have every image possible we can find. Laughing

Thanks for bringing the PV screencap project back alive, madgirlslovesong. Yes, I absolutely need some of you who are kind enough to volunteer taking screencaps from her PV and upload to the gallery. So here, let me explain a little how this will work.

First of all, we need consistency. Volunteers should take screencaps only from DVD quality video, they should be in 720x480 resolution, and for those video in 640x480, it's because the encoder encodes them into DivX or similar codec that only support 4Meow aspect ratio. I'm not sure if I should enforce 720x480 resolution as a requirement, since not many of you have DVD quality video, right? Also, no screencap from subbed PV please.

Second, the amount of screencaps per PV. I'm not sure how many is appropriate, anyone here have experience in this? I would say the more the better, but then we don't want repeating images that show the same scene over and over again. I would like to hear some suggestion on this.

I already set up a PV screencap section in the gallery and it's waiting for you guys to fill in the blanks. You're not expecting eyn to do it all by himself again right? 90% of the images in the gallery right now are uploaded by me, how about you guys take over the job and make the gallery even more exciting? Cool? Yep, thanks! Nod

If you have any suggestion to improve the gallery, I would like to hear it too. And we need more people to comment in the gallery, in case you haven't read my previous post in this thread.

fyi, our gallery now supports zip upload, so if you are to volunteer, all you need to do is have all the screencaps ready, zip them, and upload the single zip file. There's a 7mb filesize limit on zip file though. When you are naming the files, they should be like "01.jpg", "02.jpg" etc. in chronological order. I will create a category for each PV.

I'll start helping with scans of the singles and albums. Should I upload the pages with the lyrics too? Or just pages with Ai on it?

I love making screencap! So I'll be more than happy to work on that. Requarding the number of screencap per PV, I think it depends how many scene the PV has and how long it is. Maybe we should base it on the length of the PV. Like say, approximately 10 screencap per every 50 seconds. And will we be dividing the screencap section into smaller sections (by PV)?

How does the zip upload work? I mean, will people able to see the pictures inside the zip file? Or will they have to download the zip, and manually open the file to see the pictures?

I have just updated the forum to the latest phpBB version (2.0.20) from 2.0.15. Since this is a major upgrade process, almost every single php files have been altered and I'm not sure if I screw up any of the php or template files during the upgrading process. Feel free to tell me if you find any bugs or weird rendering of forum templates. Nod

I don't think there's any new features except bug fixes and slight (if any) performance increase. So yeah, nothing to get excited about afterall. Tongue

Yes. I will start creating sub albums in the PV screencap album section and please post here if you are interested in making screencaps for a PV. I don't want multiple members to work on the same PV and I hope we can get PV screencaps for all Ai-chin's PV. Do take note that screencaps should be taken from DVD quality PVs, either directly from the DVD you purchased or an encoded PV in 720x480 resolution. Those "Kataomoi Dial" screencaps you can find in the gallery right now do not satisfy this restriction and will be removed very soon.

It's already explained in the description of gallery main page, or maybe I should make it a little clearer. If you want to upload several images at once into the same album and is lazy to pick images using the file browser one by one, you can zip all of these images and then upload only the zip file. Once uploaded, the gallery will extract those images itself and put each images into the album.

Lastly, I'm thinking about the possiblity of adding an icons section, seeing quite a few members here are very talented in making avatars. If any one of you think this is a great idea, feel free to give you suggestion how this can be done. I'm thinking maybe we can archive icons participated in ai_contest for easier access by every Ai fans to promote the use of those icons. Credits will be given in item description.
