| I think because the poll already stats the numbers per year. And this thread is more of like members giving their suggestion using their minds to think of different kind of contests. That was my idea in the first place, but i think it better for Eyn to decide now.But feel just free to give more suggestion. They may not be accepted, but it is worth the try. |

I think around 10 would be good for the whole year, but no more than 10. Because contests can let other members get to know each other more....and also sparks up some members "boring" working lives (me for instance!~) and its always fun to see how creative other members are! |

Having a contest is good, thats for sure, but if too many will have a lot of problems right? And i believe that it is not an easy job to create a contest, and the organiser is too few...
And there are not many stuffs that can make a contest, like what ZeroKenshin said, contests like Ai fan arts, music editing & singing, and same with him, so far i have no idea for any contests that can create anymore beside this 3. |

I think: the more the better.
Sorry if I have to say this but...:
I think we need a little more action in here.
The contests are really the best way to increase and tighten the community.
I think RhNinjaXe is announcing a very important issue.
My Suggestions:
If we really want to organize more events in this forum this WILL NOT happen by telling the people, "please start an event".
I think if we want to get this through we need 3 or 4 "Channel-Ai Event Managers"
Remodelling:
For more action we need the forum-events to be more apparently.
Eyn's task would be to creat subforums / sticky threads in the following groups of forums:
- Ai's chatroom
- Ai's fans
- General Music
- Asian Music
- Chat room
- Newbie area
- J-Dorama Zone
These subforums / sticky threads should be named as followes: "Ai's chatroom events" , "Ai's fan events" and so on...
These should be working as follows:
The eventmanagers tasks are to work together, collect and discuss ideas. They are orderd to start events in those eventforums / sticky threads regularly.
BUT: There shouldn't be too much events. It is supposed to stay intersting:
Lets say there is ONE event per moth. And there are not events running at the same time.
According to the topic of the event, the event is sorted in into the respective forum of channel Ai.
Eyn's task would be to delete the content of the event-threads/forums after the according event has runned out. It's supposed to be clearly arranged.
(The eventmanagerteam must have moderator-rights in these subforums / sticky threads I guess)
If I read through the headlines of the forums I immediantely get some Ideas of Event-issues.
I really like the idea of more events and contests.
The pre-condition of this idea is to get a productive team of eventmanagers.
If Eyn wants to get this idea running I'd really be pleased to be one of the Event-Managers. I would really enjoy that job.
What do ya'll think of this idea after all? |

Whoa,it seem like you put a lot of effort in thinking about this plan and it is very detailed.I was also thinking about organise a NEWS sction.Meaning is creating a news section where a few members update the lastest news each week not only about ai.If this is sucessful,we needs someone with good english and minds to be a editor. Then some members need to sign on as a sort of reporter ad find infomation and post it up once a week. And all send to the editor for him to edit all post it as only 1 thread if not there will be a bit confusing.Because i am indeed a person who knows little about other things happened in Japan music industy and certainly wishes to know more.
Edvent, you really organise it well. But it seem it will be going through quite a change in Channel-ai is successful. So there should be great consideration for Eyn side.I think eyn will also only put someone as any events/contests organiser if only he really trusts that person a lot.And i hope if so many people is supporting this contest ideas. Our primary duty should be joining it.So,i hope people can join in the fun too.If not, after the great effort put in to organise a contest and only a few join.So please when a contest start, please join in. |

If it's an editor you want for a "could be" NEWS section, I'm more than willing to volunteer. I try and keep up-to-date with what's happening in Japan, usually political, financial and scientific news, but I do follow the entertainment news too, especially the music scene. Instead of it being a thread, why not make it a newsletter? perhaps a monthly or a two-monthly or maybe quarterly newsletter. I will volunteer for the post of editor for such a newsletter
As for contests, I slightly disagree with the members who think that we need a lot of contests to spice up the community. That's not necessarily the case. If you have to many contests, not only are you increasing work load for an already overworked admin, but you're also inviting confusion. Remember, contests need to be moderated and judged. There is also the possibility of segregating the community as those who're eager to participate will do so in every contest possible while the other less enthusiastic members will be left behind.
You don't necessarily need contests to spice up an online community. I think there are enough interactive thread on this forum *points to the CHAT ROOM sub-forum* for people to participate in and get to know each other. And if we really want to get the members to know each other better, maybe we can have a list compiled that contains the links to member's blogs, LJs etc. (those who want their sites to be publically published). This way members can hop around the internet to spaces owned by other members and get to know each other that way. (This is just an example).
We've had a few contests, and a few more would be nice. Not too many though.
--------------
My Suggestion for a Contest:
Channel Ai Calendar Contest - Photoshop Version
Channel Ai Calendar Contest - Fan Art Version
All interested participants can enter by picking a month of choice, and making either an image or a drawing that relates ai-chin and that month. For example: draw a beach scene (fan art version) with Ai, or edit and stylize one of the beach pictures from Kimi Iro no Omoi (photoshop version) for June depicting a summer theme) and submit them in.
Then, the contest judges (or the entire community through a voting system) can decide which entry wins for which month in either category. With the winning entries, two calendars can be compiled and distributed around the forum in pdf format so that the members can print them and start using them. We could even make them available online for non-members to buy for a tiny amount, and that money can go into helping keep this site up, or provide contributions towards prizes for other contests.
Although It's just a suggestion, if the need arises, I can help with such a contest.

ok, I understand.
And that's why I suggested: Just one contest per month.
I think the main opinions have been posted. So we have to wait for Eyn's comment now... |

I think that by keeping the amount of contests low you increase the interesting and participation in each competition. Also, it'll be easier for administrators to run the competition if we don't host on every month. Another factor is how many different competitions we can think up.
Well, I have on idea. The winner of the competition is the person who photographs/records/builds/bakes the most creative, interesting, and awe-inspiring Ai-related "thing". I've already seen an amazing Ai Cake by spellcheck and Akamori, what else can Ai-fans muster? Think of the possabilities: why not spell Ai's name with a ludacris amount of cherries or dress up as a Frienger for a day and help you Friends out, recording the adventure as you go! Who ever has the best Ai-dea wins! |
