The ceremony for the 20th Japan Gold Disc Award was held in NHK Hall on March 9th (hey, it's my birthday!). The association organizing this annual event, the Japan Phonograph Record Association (RIAJ), totaled the record sales from January 1 to December 31, 2005, and select artists as winners for the award.
I'm not going to translate the whole article since I'm just using the excite translator to help me understand the event better. You can read the machine translated English version of the news article here.
Koda won 3 awards, they are: artist of the year, rock/pop album of the year and music video of the year. Amazing eh? Anyway, I bet most of us are more interested in which awards has Ai-chin won, so yeah, let's skip Koda Kumi. 
Ai-chin won the Japanese section of Rock/Pop album of the year with "LOVE COOK". fyi, she won the same award last year with LOVE JAM and LOVE PUNCH (both released in 2004). I'm not sure what song she performed in the ceremony, probably Cherish, we'll see what it is when someone uploaded this show to jpopsuki. Ai-chin performed Daisuki dayo last year.

Also worth mention is that YUI, WaT and Yuna Ito won the new artist award! Congrats to YUI!

| Our Ai is certainly getting more and more recognition. I'm glad for her. She looks really gorgeous here in that gown - quite mature yet still quite spunky. Thanks for the heads up eyn! |

okay anyways now back to the business xD.
I gotta agree with rinoa its awesome that Ai-chan is getting more recognition. year after year/day after day.
And Omedetou gozaimasu to him about winning the album of the year in Rock/Pop category I like the Japan Gold Disc Award 2006 photos better then those back from 05.
She is so beautiful in those photos. What!?! Yui winned the new artist award gongratz to him too she deserved that Title. |

Oh, wow! Thanks for the pictures and the information! She looks so gorgeous there in the gown! And her hair is beautiful! I love the way it looks. It really suits her personality! I'm happy that she won an award again. I wonder if she did perform Cherish? I hope so. She hasn't performed it enough.

Congratulations to Otsuka Ai!!!
Well, it's great that she won an award... Does anyone know how the winners are determined?
I am also so so happy for WaT and YUI, they deserved those new artist awards so so much.
She looks so pretty in that dress.... The hair is here to stay!!!  Hopefully I can download the show soon. |

thanks for the pics too!! the short hair is still leaving a very new impression!
makes me think of...... running through open green fields....and.....sunflowers.... but that's just me.... haha i'm a weirdo like that...

i'm loving ai's new hair style more and more 
from the thumbnails, her hairstyle and dress didn't match. but when you look at the pic up close and see how she did her hair, she looks really elegant.
stzr3 @ AHO (who credits another_truth @ JPM Forums) confirmed that ai did indeed perfom Cherish after she recieved an award.
question regarding Rock/Pop album of the year 2005. when they presented the award, did they acknowledge LOVE PUNCH and LOVE JAM? |

Congrats to Ai too!
I think her new hairstyle makes her look very fresh!
And at least there's a change in her style instead of having the same look.
I look forward to seeing Ai with more new hairstyle, hopefully shorter hair.
But I think she definitely deserve this award as LOVE COOK is an awesome album.
No offence but its nice to hear her sing Cherish instead of Planeterium again.  |

she is very talented ne?
i think the hair is very beautiful but i do miss her long hair T^T
but change is a good thing
i cant wait till someone uploads things onto jpopsuki
n someone plz mirror it or something...
but it all comes down to...where is ayu...did not even see a pic of her or BoA?
what happened to them? mayb their schedules are too busy...
i love Cherish~ cant wait to hear it from her again |
