It's sooo cool hearing about everyone else's cities! Now I know what places to visit
I'll do where I'm living now. This is kinda fun.
...I've yet to see clear nice weather like this...LIARS
Vestal, New York (a town on the outskirts of Binghamton, New York) in the "Southern Tier" of NYS
Cool: My uni , downtown Binghamton is al'ight, 24-hour Super Wal-Mart, the tiny corner Starbucks (at least they gots one!), the whole strip of restaurants and shops and stuff, the scenery, the mountains, snowboarding, snowshoeing, animals, cute lizards, I live right next to the Nature Preserve , houses here are C-H-E-A-P!, cheap taxi fares (one-man taxis only! so cute!)
Lame: Quiet, the "townies" here have southern accents o.O, you need a car to get places, no sidewalks (wtf?), buses come every hour and only go one way, buses stop working at 8.30..., it snows every other day... (the weather here is plain WEIRD), no real businesses, basically, if the uni wasn't here, this town would be DEAD, gets boring quickly 'cause I don't have a CAR, no real chinese or italian food...:'(
...and that's it. I'm obviously a bit bored right now...LOL |

I like this thread its an interesting topic ^_^
I live in Sydney.
Cool: I love the city especially China Town because they sell cool clothes imported from Japan (but they are really expensive) and cool shops such as Harajuku that sells beautiful gothica lolita dresses and other cool outfits that are not gothica lolita. There are also many shops that sell J-pop/J-rock cds, albums etc which is very cool yet expensive. Kinokuniya is also very cool ^_^ Also the sights such as the Harbour Bridge, Opera House, etc are cool.
Lame: I live in a bush area of Sydney and yes I do see Kangaroos and I have had an echidna in my backyard before soo cute ^_^ anyway the disadvantage of living in the bush area is that there are no buses or train near me to actually get to the city so I have to travel to the next suburb in order to catch public transport, also not many people are fond of the whole "asian" concept and think its weird that I listen to japanese music which is annoying *sigh* |

Vancouver, Canada
Cool: Very multi-cultural community throughout the lower mainland. If I wanted to get some C-pop or J-pop music, it's about a 15 min drive across the bridge to Richmond. That's where all the Chinese malls are. Burnaby it's also another 15 min drive and a lot of Korean and Vietnam immigrants settle in this area (result: lots of Korean and Vietnam restaurants). In downtown Vancouver, a lot of Japanese and Korean exchange students hang out there (result: lots of Korean and Japanese restaurants). There are also others, like India, Filipino, Greek, etc.
Lame: One thing that a lot of people dislike about is the weather. It rains here a lot. We almost broke an old Vancouver record by having rain for 28 days straight. I don't remember the exact record, but we were only one day away from breaking it.
View of downtown.
This is suppose to be an overview of UBC (the land closest to the screen). Further up, there's some green and buildings. The green part is stanley park, and the buildings is the downtown area. Even further up, is North Vancouver. |

Bornem, Belgium
Cool: There are 2 castles in it (1 of them is like 200 meters from my house). It's a great film location =) 2 films have been filmed here, and 1 series (that i know of)
Lame: Nobody knows where it lies; it's small (but if you live in Belgium, everything is small)
And there aren't any Japanese stuff within 300 kilometres from my house

yay old topics! I always like seeing what people before my time here were talking about
Ottawa, the capital of Canada.
The cool: it's the capital of Canada. that's gotta be freakin' sweet right? [/sarcasm]
The lame: it's the capital of Canada...so what. that's just a little title it's saddled with. Ottawa is a cold and monochrome forest of buildings and structures is full of people who shuffle around daily like dead zombies, existing but not living (if they are living, then they're out to be mean to you ). the "place to be" anyway is Toronto, which A LOT of people seem to think is the capital of Canada. I personally don't like it there but it's way better than here. Ottawa is a huge city that's full of miles and miles and miles of concrete and lameness. I would love to be anywhere but here |

I live in Bad Sooden-Allendorf, a spa town in germany
The cool: Bad-Sooden Allendorf is a little spa town but there are still many shops so you don't have to drive in a bigger city when you need something. Most of the people live in half-timber houses and we have many trees and forest so there is a good compensation between modernity and rusticity .
The lame: Sometimes it's a bit boring. Except for our wicked harvest festival there's nothing special going on ...

Crystallas, looks like a cool place, it's sort of the image when I think of a small German town, now where's the bier cellar? And Koda, can't believe you think that about Ottawa, I have never been there, thought it would be a nice place to visit with a lot of things to do, maybe you're like me, been in the same place too long, you don't notice things around you when you see them every day. And the mayor of my city, Syracuse, has added Koda to the small list of one of people who want to re-visit the city!
Here's pic of my place, my house is too small to see but is in the photo.
We have a Zoo, but even the Lions get bored here!
The main reason the city is here is because of the Erie Canal
And snow it does here, 4th snowiest city in the U.S., took this photo Monday.
We win an award every year though for the snow!
http://www.goldensnowball.com/
And finally the State Fair is held here every year drawing about a million people.

Yes, the Werra is a river . Germany has some nice places, but it is a bit boring over all. The region looks always the same and the people here are stuffy ...
Yes Koda, show us some nice pictures of Ottawa |

Crystallas, your town is so nice!!! I love European towns, the only problem is that all of them look the same and you start to get bored
The snow picture looks beautiful (I've never touched snow ) , I would love to visit your town xD
Ok, I live in Quito, the capital of Ecuador
The cool: It's a very touristic city, full of attractions, great monuments, temperate climate, fun places to go at day and night, has a beautiful historical center, It has the mix of different cultures since it was under influence of the Spanish crown.
There's always amazing cultural, artistic and musical events.
Cultural patrimony of the planet.
Has also big natural reserves and parks.
The lame: There's poverty, it's a bit dangerous, people throws trash at the street. People thinks it's on Africa
Now some pictures:
