Here's my attempt at starting another silly thread. Although, it might not be so silly.

As you can read here, the season of hanami has arrived a little early this year all over Japan.

What is hanami?
Find a detailed answer on Wiki. Hanami or 花見 is the annual Japanese season/practice of sitting down in a park to have a picnic, or just stroll throws park avenues lined with fully blossoming Cherry Blossoms. Any fan of anime knows the Japanese obsession with these pink flowering trees.

But Cherry-Blossoms aren't indegeneous to Japan. We get them here in England too. But Hanami need'nt be enjoying blooming Cherry Blossoms alone, any blooming flower can be enjoyed in the spirit of welcoming Spring. So if you find any around, post a picture here.

I'll start. A small Cherry Blossom tree in the courtyard of the Physics Department Building in the University of Manchester, UK. That's where I spend most of my week.

So recently I've been having a cup of coffee in the foyer while enjoying my very own hanami.

I heard that Hanami is totally popular in Japan. They even give incentives to people who can predict when the next sakura blooming period is. That's interesting. I heard that parties also go on all month when the flowers bloom. Wish I'm in Japan during that period of time. I can imagine that it must be really pretty. Wink
