Ai is still a relatively new artist, and her lastest sales (SMILY, planetarium) have been to the standards of idols like ayu
Ai is still selling better than some artists who've been in the market much longer (the current utada and koda for example) |

lol, yeah they're rite. selling 100k for a single, almost guarantees you a spot in the yearly top 100 singles. so thats good. |

| No bad for the 1st week but I was expecting sales closer to 100,000mark. I believe "Frienger" will eventually break the 100,000mark in coming weeks. |

I predict that too, it will break the 100,000 mark soon. I was expecting it would sell a bit more than 70,000 the first week, but the number is still good.  |

Thanks for posting the sales.. but somehow I think that those aren't the final figures yet. The week hasn't even ended yet.... I think they are just very accurate estimations based on the trends for half a week.
Anyway, 70k is... well, disappointing for me since PLANETARIUM and SMILY had higher first week sales. And after her most successful studio album, I really thought Otsuka Ai could follow it up with a single that sold 100k in the first week at least.
But then I remind myself that 70k is double of what BoA sold in her first week. So it makes it not so bad I guess. 
I hope this single breaks 300k...... lol OK, seems nearly impossible now, 200k would be good.... that's not TOO much of an ask is it? I'm counting on the tour to promote it heaps. xP We need more lives as well!!!! SMILY and PLANETARIUM had so much and they both sold over 310k copies!! |

i didn't expect b'z to beat ai by so much though - i thought it would have just been a couple thousand, not 91 000 |

I think it might be harder to break the 200k this time. Ai is known for her upbeat single, and they usually sell really well.
Frienger is a nice song, but it's not as catchy as some of the past upbeat singles (SMILY, Happy Days). But who knows, maybe it will break the 200k with the promotion of the tour. |

| I'm perfectly okay with Ai being in the second spot...and the fact that she's still a rather new singer and made it to second place proves that she's very talented... I'm just gonna keep believing in Ai and hope that she gets to stay in that place (or get first place). |
