Yay! Not that I don't like Happy Days single, but it's wonderful to see Ai getting better with every single! |

| YAY finally 4th! :333 Haha yeah, selling exactly 164,000 is so cool. xD Waii such a big gap between the 4th and 3rd. I wonder if the next single can break that, I hope so, since it's a special single~ |

Thanks aifan929! Hmm..not bad.
Still a bit far away from some other ones, but it did very well overall. We can surely expect better from Yumekui, at least 200,000 minimum. Nice update for the JAM PUNCH as well, for some reason I expected it to be a little higher than that? The LOVE COOK Tour DVD will certainly make up for that though. ^_^
LOVE COOK outsold LOVE PUNCH by a whole 100k, which is some good news because it means that she's obviously making a strong statement. Her situation can only keep getting better so congratulations to Ai! |

You're kidding right? >_<
I think 195k for a DVD from an artist like Otsuka Ai is fantastic. The highest selling DVD of all time in Japan is currently only 453k. Ayumi Hamasaki's tour/concert DVD's for the past few years can't even hit 90k.
If LOVE COOK Tour DVD gets the same amount of success that would be seriously just too awesome. |

Eh? I guess my expectations were too high. ^_^;
I never really cared to see how others were doing but now that you tell me it really is a good number for Ai, isn't it?
I just saw the number and thought, "heh I know it could have done better than that!" so I never really considered how it did compared to Ayu's or something. I expect too much from her since I believe she's such a great person! |

| Music DVDs in Japan don't really sell that much. Ai's JAM PUNCH sales were really really good. I think it's the 2nd highest female right now? I know Kumi's ~secret~ Concert DVD got 300k+ |

updated 'Frienger's week 12+13; LOVE COOK and JAM PUNCH.
Som info: It looks like LOVE COOK might be gaining momentum as Tokyo Friends movie/Yumekui release next month, it'll be interesting if it'll increase the sales more (it's not at about 1000/week). Frienger is still holding on to 1000/week and JAM PUNCH is the 4th highest selling music DVD for a solo artist (behind Kumi, Hikki and Mai K) |

It's been two weeks! And I have great news to bring in place of aifan929 who seems to be in LALAland now.
Frienger has now surpassed the 170k barrier this week, with total sales of 170,566 copies. I expect it to stop charting in the next four weeks at the very latest, since its sales are dropping steadily, and Yumekui should be taking over.
In other exciting news, JAM PUNCH Tour 2005 DVD has now charted for one year save one day, and has amassed sales of 198,900, and is STILL selling. This, as previously pointed out, is the fifth best selling DVD by a solo astist. It will definitely pass the 200k mark very soon.
Also, LOVE COOK has now sold 810,631 copies. What is very interesting and amusing, is that the weekly sales of LOVE COOK have climbed over the past few weeks. A few weeks ago it was selling 1k/week, even dropping to 700/week at one stage. However, I suspect that the release of Tokyo Friends has raised interest in Otsuka Ai from the public, and this week, it sold, 1.5k, up 1.2k from last week.
LOVE COOK stands as the 9th highest selling album of Oricon 2006, and is the 5th highest selling original studio album of Oricon 2006. |

Oh thanks for the update HilaryDuffFanboy!! Hmm.....
Impressive figures: The tour DVD is STILL selling, huh? Well of course it is!
Indeed, it will hit 200k very soon, only a bit over 1000 to go!
Of course, Tokyo Friends plays a major role in Otsuka Ai's sales figures!! I mean how much publicity is Ai getting nowadays? According to all of the miscellaneous polls that you gave from Oricon, I assume she is gaining recognition only all over the place! Those random polls don't really count for much, but at least we know that she's grabbing all sorts of attention. It can only help her out in the end.
I guess Yumekui is up to bat next, and the unofficial/unevidenced/spineless/noncredible plagiarism accusation that I *shut down* is NOT going to hinder its sales figures. Otherwise I would have to resort to sending them a copy of my debate argument to destroy them. |

Thanks for keeping up with the sales number and posting it here HilaryDuffFanboy.
I'm sceptical about JAM PUNCH Tour being able to break the 200k barrier, especially since LOVE[99]COOK comes out today
I guess with the release of LOVE[99]COOK can affect the sales of JAM PUNCH in two ways.
LOVE COOK is currently Ai's best selling album, so I'm assuming this is a lot of people's first Ai album (keeping in mind that these sales is influenced by the limited edition picture book and photo book). Which probably means they're more familiar with the songs with LOVE COOK than the previous two albums. If that was the case for me, I'll probably choose to get LOVE[99]COOK instead of JAM PUNCH because it has more songs that I'm familiar with.
On the other hand, the release of LOVE[99]COOK could bump both DVD's sales up. After the "new" fans had watch LOVE[99]COOK, they might want to see more live. Hence, they'll get JAM PUNCH. This might even bump LOVE JAM and LOVE PUNCH sales too.
Of course, I'm hoping the second situation will happen. Because I do want JAM PUNCH to break the 200k mark. |

Nice observation Aprilis., however I believe that both of those things will happen. One affects the other.
Indeed, the majority of fans today probably started out with LOVE COOK and gradually opened up to her past albums, it really shows in the sales figures. This will undoubtedly draw them to LOVE[99]COOK, which will probably exceed JAM PUNCH fairly easily (given time of course), at least the 200k mark. With LOVE[99]COOK in the spotlight the masses will surely shift gears and go for that instead of JAM PUNCH, but both of those situations work hand in hand.
In the midst of LOVE[99]COOK sales, JAM PUNCH won't be selling as well as it used to, but given time the sales of JAM PUNCH will end up increasing to eventually hit the 200k mark. Time is the factor here, and we all know that LOVE[99]COOK is going to sell very well. Otsuka Ai can only gain more fans during this time so surely her past albums and JAM PUNCH will keep moving forward alongside her.
She's going to be awfully hard to miss with Yumekui and Tokyo Friends buzzing around also, so more power to her. |
