As many of you might know, avex BEST albums are usually released after 3-4 original albums. i.e. Namie released 2 original albums, then a BEST; Ayu and BoA both released 3 original albums than their BEST albums; Koda Kumi released 4 original albums than released her BEST. My question is when do you want her "LOVE BEST" to be released? By the end of 2006? or by the end of 2007? And if you want, give a possible tracklist for the BEST album!
I voted for the end of this year (2006). I think she already has good strong material for a best album to be produced. My tracklist is pretty simple:
Momo no Hanabira/Sakuranbo/Amanebo/Happy Days/Kingyo Hanabi/Daisuki Dayo/Kuroge.../SMILY/Biidama/Neko ni Fuusen/Planetarium/Cherish/Frienger/-new Summer single song-/-new Summer single song-/-new Fall single song-/
for a total of 16 songs, plus the 16 PVs! |

Not to say that I don't want a BEST album - that's far from reality, I would LOVE an Ai Best to join my BoA collection - but I'm not sure if she should release one this soon. Reason being I don't want her to suffer the Best Album curse that BoA and Mika are suffering from right now. I think she should release another successful original album (which, IMO, is just as good, if not better, since we have more songs from Ai) and then release a BEST album.
BUT I think Avex, being a profit-making organization, will push her to produce a Best album this year. |

i would prefer an original album cause then there would be new songs

Actually, I have sort of devised a plan for Otsuka Ai to make her the best selling artist of '07. 
From now until the end of November, release 1-2 singles only, and maybe the Tokyo Friends OST. Then, at the start of the Oricon year, (~1st December), release one more single, then release a new original studio album, after that, release 2-3 more singles, and then release LOVE BEST four months before the end of Oricon year 2007. With two top-selling albums and a few singles, she MAY be crowned best selling artist of the year.... Oh, she should also abuse the idea of multiple limited editions!!!
Yeh, that;s what I think.
More generally, she is not ready for LOVE BEST. I would love to see her BEST span to two CD's, much like Kumiko's Best ~first things~. |

It would be reasonable to have a BEST album by the end of 2006. Since usually it takes an artist 3 albums for a BEST album. And I think ai-chan has enough songs to release one! It would be totally awesome if it contains her PVs as well. But from what I've seen so far with AVEX's BEST album, the album should contain all the singles' PV.
I don't think its too fast for ai-chan to release a BEST by the end of the year, I think its the right time. And after what AVEX did to Kumi (releasing 2 BEST albums in a short period of time), you can't really predict what they'll do to ai-chan.
But I would LOVE to have a BEST from her by the end of the year!!  |

well i think 2-3 singles right after an original album in less than 8 months is a biit too rushed for her. here's my alternate plan (other than a best album this year)
July '06: (12th) Summer Double A-side single (both upbeat songs)
Oct '06: (13th) Fall Maxi single (maybe another biidama?)
Dec '06: (14th) Winter Double A-side single (both ballads)
Mar '07: (15th) Spring Maxi single (another hyper/rock song)
May '07: BEST Album (Singles #1-#15)
May-Jul '07: Tour
Jun '07: (16th) Summer Maxi single (another neko or amai?)
Aug '07: (17th) Summer Maxi single (ballad)
Oct '07: (18th) Fall Maxi single (a cute song maybe like drop.?)
Dec '07: (4th) Album featuing 16th-18th singles. |

That's exactly what I was thinking while reading your post. I'm really afraid that they're going to start pressuring Ai into realeasing a BEST by sacrificing quility for quantity; never a good idea. Darn Avex.
Anyways, as a fan the sooner she comes out with more stuff, including a BEST, the better but as I said before I'd rather wait longer for something that sounds more polished. I think she should take her time and release early '07; late '06 is a little too close for comfort. |

Hope theres none, or no new song and its weird like this since i have all the other old albums LOL  |

I like HilaryDuffFanboy's plan, and it's fairly reasonable. From a fan's point of view, your plan is good too aifan92. But poor Ai will be so over worked! Plus, I don't think they'll schedule a concert between May - July since a-nation usually start in July.
I think it's still too soon for a best album and I don't think avex will be pushing her to get one out either. To me, right now avex is working hard on Koda Kumi. They want to make her as the next Ayu. Hence the 2 Best album.
And I think it was HilaryDuffFanboy that mention this before, I rather wait a while longer for a Best album so that they'll have 2CD+DVD when the best album does come out. |

That's the thing, I don't want Avex pressuring Otsuka Ai into releasing a best. Ayu fans might be familiar with the controversy when Ayumi was 'forced' to release A BEST by Avex, and Ayumi Hamasaki was so against it, yet Avex still made her do it anyway.
aifan929's idea doesn't seem too bad, albeit she will be overworked, and the chances of her getting Best selling artist 0f 2007, which I am really gunning her to go for, will greatly diminish with only one album. Moreover, I don't like the idea of having all these singles that will appear on the BEST. It almost makes it an original studio album....
The release between Oct and Dec '06 would also be unfeasible because the Oct single should be Renai Shashin, and if it does live up to be the next 'Hana' as speculated mildly, she wouldn't release a single that quickly after it........
Anyhow, I just hope the BEST will span 24 songs and make it 12 tracks per CD or something.... I wouldn't mind her recording 2-3 new tracks just to make it longer as well. xD But yeh, main focus for me is it spanning two CD's... it'll definitely lure more buyers!! |

It would be so awesome...but at the rate Ai's releasing (3-4 singles a year?), it will take longer than Avex is willing to wait.  I've always thought that Koda Kumi's ~ft~ had so many songs is because she wasn't very successful at first, so Avex waited longer than they did for the more "successful" artists before her BEST was released.
I like both plans that the earlier two posters came up with. It would be interesting if you guys actually go on to head Avex or some musical industry giant. |

well that's wut they did to both BoA and Kumi. The BEST, is really a single collection.

well kinda. i think avex wanted kumi to become a bit more popular then release her best album. besides, at that time (after the release of her 3rd album) it wouldn't have hurt her cos she didn't start to sell a bit better until mid 2004. and avex was rite, after her 'secret' album which did really well, they knew they had to release her best album in the same year. |

I understand, but following your schedule, there would be 7 new singles that appear on the LOVE BEST and won't appear on any other original studio albums... That's assuming both the A-sides on the double A-sides make it onto the LOVE BEST. Kumi Koda and BoA had 3-4 at most... |
