As part of the ongoing tradition, here I made this thread specially dedicated to Ai's 12th single, "Yumekui". Future news will be updated here and all discussion about this single should be done in this thread. 
Ai-chin's official site has just made an announcement about this upcoming 12th single titled "Yumekui", thanks to 131172 for the heads up. The details of this single is as follow:
12th Single 「ユメクイ」
2006.08.02 on sale
[CD+DVD] AVCD-31021/B ¥1,890 (tax in)
[CD] AVCD-31022 ¥1,050 (tax in)
From the previous "Tokyo Friends The Movie" production announcement ceremony we heard this single will include 4 songs, but so far nothing has been officially confirmed, such as which songs will be included beside "Yumekui".
Here's some extra information about "Yumekui". Although the title is written in Katakana, it is not a transcription of words from foreign language. "yume" can be written as "夢" (means "dream") while "kui" can be written as "食い" (means "eating"). I've seen "Yumekui" being literally translate as "Taste the dream" (品嘗美夢) in Chinese. Since the theme of "Tokyo Friends" is all about searching for your dream, I guess this translation sort of makes sense.  (update: you can get the fully translated lyrics here, coutesy of vllasko) The wording here is very similar to "Amai Kimochi Maru Kajiri", where "kajiri" means "biting", and the full translation read something like "Taste those sweet feelings boldly".
Previously there are some confusion about whether they will include these "Tokyo Friends" songs in the OST or release them as a separate single, now we know the answer. I believe the sales of this single will be very successful due to the connection with the movie and it will very likely to become her best selling single if it does include 4 new songs.

Yay! New Ai-single Ayu is releasing BLUE BIRD too x.x The single is apparently released on the week that my school starts 
I should be very very very excited about these news, but no. I don't know what's wrong with me, since I'm not excited at all  Maybe Ayu has taken over me. And Yumekui's preview didn't sound as promising as Frienger's preview did back them  |

| I won't judge "Yumekui" just yet as the song has yet to grow on me. Just like when I first heard previews of past singles, I would felt skeptical of the single doing well. But after a while I managed to like the song and after the PV is released, I totally love the new song. I believed this is the normal cycle when we hear a new song. I hope the new song will break the 200k mark this time since it is a theme song for a movie. Again, August just seem so far away... |

| I don't think Yumekui is a strong enough song for a single but with three other songs from Tokyo Friends it should be fine. It was the only song in Tokyo Friends I used to skip through but I suppose that was mainly because it was usually at the end. |

Finally ''yumekui'' is on the next single, yeah!!!
Actually before Love Cook released, i am alway think that ''yumekui'' and ''to me'' will be in Love Cook, but the truth is NOPE.
So now i am so happy to hear this news, can't wait to get this single, and i think there will be a PV of ''yumekui'' or ''to me'', it's GREAT!!! |

When I was watching Tokyo Friends, I didn't paid much attention to Yumekui. On the other hand, I was head over heels for 'to me'. Has it been "confirmed" that 'to me' will be on the single? I mean, since this is a cover song from a boy band.
I'm confused about the Tokyo Friends OST and the Yumekui single. From the OST post, there's something about 4 new songs. And now in the thread, there's also something about 4 new songs. Does this mean the single and OST is actually the same thing? |
