I understand that some artists want to keep their family and personal life issues out of the spotlight... but somethings through interviews they give away some information about their parents, hometown, school life... etc.

I ve been searching all over for some information about Ai´s early years for an article that i m writing for a local magazine (Ai chin is the cover Giggle )... so i m asking for the help of you... dedicated fans, if you have some important data about her early years, and family.

All i know is that she plays pianaosince the age of 4, that she is from Osaka and that she used to sing with a girl band before she started her solo carreer.

I have some childhood/family/early life pictures that I've collected. I probably got most of them from here, but I hope they help. Giggle

Ai talking to her parents via webcam during an interview special:

Also, if you can read French or get this translated, here is a pretty decent biography. It includes a picture of her indie release and information about her first group HimawaRi.

Wow, thanks for the nice pics madgirlslovesong!! I've only seen the pic of her parents and the one middle school one...

Not much at all has been said about Otsuka Ai's personal life and childhood... but good luck with the article anyhow. Post it when you're done if you don't mind. Tongue

wow thanks for the pictures of the young Ai chin madgirlslovesong!

I only know the basic profile of Ai as well, so I don't have much in depth info about her childhood, etc. Sorry I can't help much, but I also wish you good luck on your research! Smile

I wonder what it is like for the people who grew up going to grade school, middle, and high school with her and to see how successful she is today.

from my one year of french, it says sumthin like...
1st section:
born on the 9 of september 1982 in Osaka, Japan
learned to play piano at age 4
composed and sang music at age 15, with the help of her piano instructor
wrote Always Together for her friend's 16th birthday
wrote Momo No Hanabira the same summer as Love Punch tour? but wasnt a success
2nd single Sakuranbo huge success
*the rest i cant read due to the picture and my bad french Sad *

2nd section:
her next single, the ballad Amaenbo was another success, and thus she created her premier Love Punch album
her next single Happy Days was completely the opposite - it was a short, cure rock song
the same summer she Kingyo Hanabi came out, Ai participated in the Avex Trax concert A-nation
when Daisukidayo came out, it made the Love Jam album

*sorry people, im getting tired with this cuz all it talks about are the songs and albums. No if u want more translations, tell me, and ill do them ASAP Nod *

This might not be correct but I think that they tell what grade she was. Well not grade but what kind of school (college, high school, elementary school). But some who knows japanese better can tell the real thing xD

The kanji on the three black and white school photos in question read 'high' and 'middle', respectively.
This is given as shorthand for highschool (koukou, 高校) and middle/junior highschool (chuugakkou, 中学校), thereby signifying when these shots were taken.

Hope that helps! Love
