I loaned out Tales of Symphonia to my friend almost a year ago before I left school, and I still haven't got it back.

Just to say I am that amazing friend of Kerusii's who beat the game 8 (or is it 9? ) times! I'm absolutly love this game! I love pairing Sheena(and kickin butt as her) and Lloyd! Its so obvious she likes him! (you can tell more in the PS2 game from the biker outfit event(haven't played that one just seen that event)) Colette must die... Erhmm sorry about that. Well anyway I want to play the PS2 version so bad and see the Tv series! Why can't I be born in japan? That game is my favorite game ever! (and thats saying a lot for me!) I cryed every time I beat the game! Well almost every time... You sorta run dry after the 6th time... Ooo heres a spoiler I know what they name the tree! You know how the cut out right when hes gunna say the name? Well I'm pretty sure he names it Mithos (or Yggdrasil whatever), sweet huh? Well if you ever want to talk about TOS I'm open for chattin! |

Good news everyone!!
Amidst the greatness of 2007, the Tales of Symphonia OVA website has been updated!! Said bluntly, I'm really excited about this. The characters do look like themselves (presumably) but I feel kinda robbed since they didn't bother showing the designs of Sheena, Zelos, Regal, Presea..meh. I guess they didn't want to reveal too much of the plot at once for those who haven't played the game. *sigh* I'm quite anxious.
Tales of Symphonia OVA trailer
I suppose this'll sum up everything. |

^ Yeah, I'm thinking they didn't wanna reveal the Tethe'Allen characters to people who haven't played/gotten that far in the game. I think the designs for them will probably be the ones in teh opening before the game, ya know, like during the song and stuff.
I can't wait 'til this is out!
When do you think we can expect a subbed version? |

The "Tales of" official site has already announced an extension in the series with Tales of Fandom Vol.2. The second 'Fandom' will include the PC cast from "Tales of Phantasia," "Tales of Symphonia," and "Tales of the Abyss" (the ultimate Kosuke Fujishima tribute ) !
[This is a screenshot of the "Symphonia" portion of this new voice-adventure!
Well the real charm of the "Fandom" series lies in its depiction of episodes not included in the original games!
The latest installment is a voice-adventure including episodes of "Phantasia," "Symphonia," and "Abyss" (Jade and Tear sides). With various character episodes rendered in 'full-voice' from their respective seiyuus and a wonderful display of design and original story, this is something you don't want to miss!]

Worthy of great note are the character designs for this PS2 game. Natalia is gorgeous. |

^ Wow! Is it for the PS2 then? Or what?
I hope this will come to the US.
That is one gorgeous screenshot.
Um..do you think you could tell us basically what it says on the page you linked too? I'm uh...not so good at Japanese. |

^ Sure! I'll translate the text as an edit to my previous post.
As for the game's specs, it will be released for PS2 Japan only. As it stands now there is no solid evidence to conclude that this will be a Japan-only installation; however, the first Fandom was never released outside Japan most likely due to its low appeal factor for serious gamers. Both Fandoms are known as voice-adventures, featuring a grab bag of "Tales of" characters interacting with one another in conversation. There is no real action or fighting in the series, I believe, which explains why this game and its predecessor will not leave Japan (as they wouldn't invest the time, money, or effort to just translate a bunch of text..it'd never sell. ).
If anything, the mini-series is more of a collector's item for rabid fans. |

^Thanks for the translation!
Ohh...I see. Then you're right, it probably won't leave Japan. They should make them like, as an actual game kinda thing with a plot and action and such, y'know? I know I'd like that. I suppose we know why it's called "Fandom" huh?
Hmm, do they even have plots? Or...anything? Or are they just randomly talking to each other? |

It appears that the Fandom series essentially explores the worlds, furthermore revealing character elements and tidbits that weren't included in the main series. According to the official site, Symphonia's story will be centered around Kratos's past (for the sake not spoiling anything I shall refrain from saying what aspect of his past is uncovered ).
The gameplay is all in voice-adventure format so we can expect a very long and in-depth 'cutscene.'
Namco's strategy is actually not that bad considering they try to keep even the oldest "Tales of" games alive for as long as possible. With the further development of the Fandom mini-series, enthusiastic fans will be tempted to purchase for the sake of exploring their favorite characters and for the sheer enjoyment of the games' storytelling elements. Phantasia is one of the first games in the series made back in 1998 and Namco still loves to experiment with it. |

^ Ohh, I get it. Well, it does sound interesting, yes, but too bad I won't be able to understand it.
Oh well.
Kratos' past...I think I know what part of it you mean. |

Haha, hello everyone! Oh deary, I love the Tales series. Hm, I only have Tales of Symphonia and Tales of the Abyss now.
Has anyone heard of Tales of the World? It's the newest Tales series for the PSP. The great thing about it, you can play ANY character of the Tales series, and you can form a 4-player team! Sigh! I'll give you all more details soon! |

The great thing about it, you can play ANY character of the Tales series, and you can form a 4-player team!! Well perhaps not ANY character, unfortunately. As much as I'd like a go at it, I don't own a PSP so I won't be able to enjoy the 3-D richness of it. I made a brief update a while ago concerning Radiant Mythology here if you're interested in old news.
Here's the line-up of playable series charaters:
Phantasia:
Chester Barklight
Arche Klaine
Destiny:
Stan Aileron
Rutee Kartret
Lion (Leon) Magnus
Woodrow Kelvin
Philia Philis
Destiny 2:
Nanaly Fletch
Harold Belserius
Eternia:
Rid Hershel
Symphonia:
Lloyd Irving
Refill (Raine) Sage
Kratos Aurion (duh)
Genius (Genus) Sage
Rebirth:
Eugene Gallardo
Annie Barrs
Legendia:
Senel Coolidge (another duh because he's the only decent character who manages to make up for Legendia's sucky battle system )
Abyss:
Luke fon Fabre
Tear Grants
(...what? no Jade? )
--
As you can see, they tried to make the variety of characters as broad and sufficient as possible for casual gamers. I think all the hi-ougis are included regardless of which series characters are in the game, i.e. the archer class will have Natalia's Astral Rain hi-ougi.
Do you have your 4-player team figured out, haruru? If I plan on using all series characters, I think I'd stick with a party of Kratos (offense/magic/healing), Woodrow (ranged/close-offense), Tear (light-magic/healing/ranged/pow hammer!) and of course Harold (offense-magic/summons(?)). For some reason this formation sucks when I look at it but seems fairly balanced considering specialties and style. Playing as Senel in a 3-D motion battle system is very tempting, but Legendia's very linear fighting left a bad impression on me. His throws would be fun to use though. |

^ Hang on, is that PSP game available in the USA?
Like, in English?
That would be totally awesome~ (Since there aren't very good PSP games...and I don't have one because of this...)
But my friend would like it if it was available.
EDIT: It's ok, I found it here
