Simply put: the people here are great. Everyone seems to get a long fine, they're friendly and curtious and all around likeable people. I guess there really isn't a system for sifting through members to get the "right" ones and it's not required. Even if you wanted to improve the community there isn't really that much control over that particular situation other then making sure leechers and trash talkers don't stick around for too long. The only thing that I can see you doing is improving the way and ease in which we communicate with each other. One little thing that I noticed is that there seems to a core group of people who've been around for awhile and they all have there inside jokes that they toss around the forum once and awhile. I totally get a kick out of that; it makes it feel like an actual community. I totally love being a sort of "pop up once and awhile" character but I can see how people could be intimidated by this close-knit group of regulars, but again, not too much can be done about that.

Downloads
I can't remember the last thing that I've downloaded from this site. The only things that I feel that I need to really appreciate Ai Otsuka are her songs and the occasional picture. I had all her songs and a ton of picture of her before I joined Channel-Ai so I wasn't really looking for a download source. I say leave it on though because I'm sure people who haven't found everything would greatly appreciate it.

Forum
The forum's the heart of Channel-Ai and it beats loud and proud. I for one love the simplicity of the forum. It's quick and easy to see what's going on, what I've missed, and what's to come. The casual threads where people can just vent and chat are good too because you learn more about people and what other Ai fans are up too. The only thing that I have a tiny problem with is due to my red-green colour blindness; it's hard to see which forums have had a new reply in them when I look at my screen dead on because the shade of pink that is used is pale enough to fade perfectly into white for me. I rememdy that by tilting my screen so it's a non-issue.

Rules
The rules list posted is the way rules should be: easy to read (short), easy to understand, easy to remember, and easy to follow. Basically, the rules just remind us of basic things like courtiousy, common sense, and grammar. No changes needed.

Features
The chatroom is an awesome idea but there really isn't any motivation to enter it because there are usually only two or three people online at the same time. Maybe if there was even a tiny mini-game (tic-tac-toe, i'm a big fan of connect four myself) it'd get those two or three people into the chatroom just to kill time between threads. You could also learn a thing or two about each other. I don't know if this belongs here but, my favourite little thing is the "view posts since last visit" feature. It just simplifies my life ten fold and I count my blessings everytime I click that little guy.

Contest
I haven't seen one of Channel-Ai yet but I'd imagine that there fun and the fact that they rarely happen makes them more excititng.

Gallery
The gallery is a really good feature. Unlike the forum it doesn't change as occasionally so I don't drop into it as often but when there's something new in the gallery I also check it out. The big thing I look forward too occasionally is a new eyn wallpaper; those are great.

Blog
I check it out once and it looks really good and well kept but there isn't any information on there that I can't get by checking out my usual JPop news sources. Other sites devoted to keeping tabs on more artists and getting more detail do what the blog is trying to simply because that's their soul purpose.

Miscellaneous
Honestly, I don't see any glaring problem in Channel-Ai. The site is simple and clean and the community is top notch. I would have no qualms if you didn't change a thing. Keep up the good work, eyn!

***Community
I think the people here are friendly and there is not many problem with that. But seeing the number of members in this forum and the number of members logging in marks a universe away.

***Downloads
I think some videos rarity are high and hard to get. Those normal PV can be suitable to download for normal members. But if it is some kind of rare videos,i think it will be better to limit it to members not only with many posts but posts with meaning and good values. And normal members can have the chance of downloading it in the near future.

***Forum
As for this forum,No doubt there is no problem about it and in a way, very neat and well done. So,i personally think that it wont need any changes unless a better idea come by.

***Rules
Of course there need to be rules to maintain a well and good forum. With rules, there will be disclipine anywhere and it helps this Forum by making it seem caring and it definitely helps to maintain ties between members in a way.Without that many rules, this forum may be messy and go out of hand.No problems with rules. But i don't mean adding more is necessary. Laughing

***Features
Like tsumetai.ame,i also thinks the Chatroom is just like a extra word being put in the page.Members can try to go into the chatroom while reading and replying posts at the same time.Or take sometime off to just go into the chatroom to share views or hobbies or just kill time.

***Contest
Indeed, organising is troublesome but it has it good points too.It brings members to unite, join in and enjoy together. It is just like every country have its festivals to celebrate. And channel-ai can be like a small town enjoying the festival carnival too.But face up to reality.Festival only takes up less than 5% in a year so meaning there should not be too much of contests too.

***Blog
It is quite exciting.Very detailed.Very long and interesting and there are a lot of pages to enjoy reading and understanding.

I donít know anyone really, only a few am I aquainted with from the AHO forum. I visit Channel-Ai whenever I can. Itís just a little hard to post sometimes because the topics seem to move so slowly. But someday, I just know this forum is going to explode with posts and be extraordinarily active.

Download
I donít think itís a good idea to remove the downloads from people just because they arenít active; Inactive people may have great things to UPLOAD themselves!
The VIP thing, I have no opinion of actually.
But personally Iím not much of a downloader.. so if the download section wasnít available to me because of the fact that Iím not here every single day and post as much as some people, I wouldnít mind so much. But I like to upload things for people when I can.

Forum
I canít wait for the day that this forum is overflowing with replies, because that makes things interesting in my opinion! The fact that it isnít sometimes, sadly enough, forces me to not visit so much. Mainly because when I post something, I may check every day for three days to see if anyone replied.. but usually they donít. A few weeks later, or a month, however, there may be one or two replies to me personally.

As for moderators.. I wouldnít mind if there were any, but I think things are also fine as they are now.

Rules
I think everything concerning rules and rule-breakers is handled well.

Features
I am satisfied with the features.

Contest
I think there should be more, and I will participate if I can.

Gallery
I donít really visit the gallery much anymore. The restriction on hotlinking should probably stay, but it did annoy me once when I was trying to show someone a picture. XD But eh, itís all for the sake of bandwidth, so itís okay.

Blog
Iíve visted the blog a few times, and sometimes I read it.

Misc
I think the pages should have less threads in them so old threads arenít always on page one.
Also just, thanks eyn for creating the community. ^^

I think that the communtity here is very good. I'm really close to some members. I think that Channel-Ai is succesful when it comes to community-spirit. I visit Channel-Ai mostly every day. But sometimes only weekly. I usually check (thru the RSS-feautre) that are there any new posts considering the topic I'm following currently. I feel like a hotel in Channel-Ai xDD Not as a home yet. But as a 5 stars hotel. Don't get it wrong.

I kinda post regularly, but sometimes not even one post in one day. Sometimes many. But since I have only 100+ posts in a half-year, you can deside that do I post often or not. Also, it helps when this forum's people are nice to newbies. Channel-Ai was the first forum that I have ever joined. So I didn't get any traumas, I just got good memories for the future.

Downloads
I personaly don't like illegal downloads at all. But sometimes I'm gald that there are the downloads, mostly when a new PV comes up. Today, I needed it for Yumekui's PV. I think that the VIP system is good, since some could just join and then download as much as they want to. Please keep it in the future.

Forum
Hmm.. I think it's very well organised. On the single-topic thing and the performance-thing. And I love the layout (but somehow I dislike the recent, Frienger, one). LOVE COOK is my fav. I usually have no trouble at those 2 or 3 lines topics since I don't do them. When I come up with a new topic, I do search for it. Sometimes I have found out that there are already topics for what I would have wanted to start.

Rules
I will comment this with only few lines. The rules are the best what I have ever seen on any forum, not too strict, not too lacking. Just perfect. And like we have seen, it keeps the forum up.

Features
The feature-list is good. I use the RSS everyday. The chat room just makes me sad. No one goes there... I would like to talk to people thru it.. I have sometimes went there for half an hour to see if anyone would come to talk to me.. Maybe we should someday put up a meeting. So that people would come to the chat room at some time.

Contest
Hmm.. I have never participated in any of Channel-Ai's contests, but I loved the last Karaoke Contest. There were such wonderful entrants. I would personaly like a new contest right away. Some nice one.. (but I just don't know what kind of, just someting). I think that everyone should vote in the contests.

Gallery
I don't visit the gallery very often. But it is good that it is there. I would like to see more pictures of the CDs. Like that there would be the same kind of pics that Kingyo Hanabi has, of every other CD that Ai has. DVDs would be good to be there too. The layout is pretty lame but it doesn't matter (at least to me). So I think that it shouldn't be changed. And the hotlinking-thingy is good

Blog
I hardly ever visit the Channel-Ai blog, so I can't say anything about it, sorry

Misc
Ee? I didn't quit get what I'm supposed to write here... So..? Hmm, how about this: I like Channel-Ai much, and I hope that everyone uses the associate link. If every member uses the link everytime, the hosting fee could fully be coverd by our help. And that way eyn could buy something nice for himself too (like a TV that he doesn't have yet), so that he would get payed from all of his hard work. I will link Channel-Ai from my websites, I hope it brings a few members here.

Pros: Layouts, people here, all the activity (all kinds of groups and blogs and stuff)
Cons: The zero-posters (no one gets rid of them), some downloads

Yeah, nobody has posted in this thread for about 2 and a half years now and I don't know if this survey has any meaning to eyn anymore since it's been buried and long forgotten. But hey, let's hear what a lot of the current members think of Channel-Ai! (I hope the posting in this thread doesn't end here with mine o_O )

Community

I think the people are great and I always enjoy reading what other members have to say. The size is quite good because as stated by yunchen quite awhile ago, everyone has their place. There is no real anonymity amongst the regular members though I do think that despite our efforts in welcoming new members, there are probably a bunch of newbies that could feel a little uncomfortable suddenly mixing with veteran members. I do wish the community could grow a little more so that we'd have a bit more frequent activity but I'm not sure how we could promote this site even more.

Downloads

Aside from Ai's music and a few talk shows, I don't have much interest in this area. I admit it, I usually only download Ai's music BUT that's because she has a huge, ethical fanbase so her success is most likely assured. Don't get me wrong, I do agree with all that supporting the artist stuff etc but I just didn't feel the need to buy her stuff straight away over the internet as basically all images etc are immediately available on the forum. I DO buy her stuff when I visit Japan though.

Forum

No complaints. Looks the same as any other forum. I like how it doesn't have all these meaningless general topic areas which makes navigation annoying. And the moderator discussion is outdated now Laughing

Rules

Perfectly fine with them. There are quite a few acronyms and abbreviations used across the forum that give it that internet touch but hey, that's where we are. I like the fact that we are forced to use good spelling/grammar etc as looking at other forums or whatever that don't really care about this just gives me an absolute headache. They are eyesores and should be burnt.

Features

Once again, the issues are probably outdated. And I never knew the chatroom used to be so quiet as it's now one of the busiest threads Laughing
I like the complete nature of the forum...it has basically everything we'd ever need Nod

Contest

Ah, haven't had one in awhile! It was disappointing mainly due to the lack of participants, mainly with regards to the voting. The last (and only) competition I saw (photo comp.) had quite a few entrants but not really many voters Sad It kinda left me feeling unconvinced. It doesn't look easy to organize a competition as the variety of activities is greatly reduced. It still is fun when such an event occurs though.

Gallery

Great way to access Ai's images and the layout is alright I guess. I had a bit of trouble finding some images and categories and some categories are waaay inadequate (eg PV screencaps) but the magazine scans section is a good way to find pictures of Ai that we'd probably never find elsewhere.

Blog

It was what introduced me to Channel-Ai! I was impressed by the professional attitude of a lot of the bloggers and how they made it sound like a review (eg Rinoa, eyn, oroitsme etc) with interesting information pertaining the artist/songs etc rather than a standard 'J-pop blog' which merely gave mootable opinions. To me, it's one of the highlights of Channel-Ai.
My only complaint is that a lot of writers are busy which leads to a lack of frequent updates. I try my best to bring out quality material as well (and sometimes struggle with motivation issues) but nobody has the time to consistently, voluntarily produce high quality reviews. If there were more skilled writers or even just contributors, perhaps some sort of rotation roster could fall into place so that the blog wouldn't fall into long periods of hiatus. At this stage, with about 6 or 7 writers, it's rather difficult o.O

Anyway, read our articles. Be inspired. Join the blog. Wink

I hope my submission was informative and useful???

Hey! I'd like people to hear my opinion too! Giggle

Community

By no means, even though this is the only forum I've ever fitted into, it's the nicest forum I've ever visited. The veterans that have been here since 2005-2006 are very optimistic and sensible and they welcome their new members fairly well. The community may be small but it's still been running well as of now. It would help if new members or members that have not participated in the community could join in because it's so much more fun than not joining in group discussions. Promoting the site would be the hardest thing to do but we'll do whatever we can to welcome our fresh new members into the group! Smile

Downloads

I can admit I only download the songs here but there seems to be heaps of things to download. You see live performances, Ai's interview on talk shows, it nearly seems like the total package. I don't think there's any problem really unless you like to download too much and you end up running out of Internet speed earlier in the month. Giggle That's me.

Forum

Forum has been well-organised from what I can remember during my first time. No mess, no fuss.

Rules

Rules enforced the forum pretty well, I mean I can admit I did break some rules during my early days here but yeah, rules are rules and you have to follow them. To type in full English may be difficult for some international members but as long as they follow the other rules like not typing in CAPS or writing like h3ll0, I guess it's fine. We kinda have that internet touch here like sljinu said, definitely agree that it's not a deformation of the rule.

Features

Areas can be quiet at times, but the variety of topics you can talk about is just fine. The chat room is obviously my favourite area and I don't think there has to be any changes as of now.

Contest

I loved the contests, it's just too bad they're not enough members during a particular time of the year but I'll be looking forward to any contest that's coming soon!

Gallery

I never really check the area much but I'm happy with the way it is I guess.

Blog

I was surprised when I read most of the blogs here and saw how much talent some of our fellow members have. It feels like your favourite newspaper really, it's fascinating stuff.

Miscellaneous

I love this forum, period. Wink

Community

I'm not so sure what the community is like right now because I just came back after a really long hiatus, but I have liked it throughout the years and have got to know some of the older members (some who don't even post here anymore) like .::carlito::., Livare, Ha-Ha-Haru! and KerushiiAi outside of the board itself, so I guess I just feel familiar with the community and I have it to thank for making me new e-friends or something.

Downloads

Uh, I like them. Honestly, I only ever really download things that I can't get anywhere else yet or they would be hard for me to buy myself. Basically, anything from eyn, 1337rice or pon pon.

Forum

I'm not a huge fan of phpBB, mostly for technical reasons. The skins are nice though. And we're in dire need of a new one. I still use the Renai Shashin skin from 2006.

I like the different subforums though. It pretty much covers everything we could possibly want to talk about here.

Rules

No Gods, No Masters!!! I mean, er... yeah, they're fine for what they are. And as a dedicated grammar nazi, I'll have to second slinju's opinion on the grammar rules.

Features

I still wish that more people would use the chat room. It's constantly empty. I think it's mostly because people like to browse around, and the chat window would have to have a tab of its own and couldn't be minimised to the tray or whatever. Or at least, that's what I thought when I tried to get people here to use IRC. Major failure there too.

Contest

Haha, karaoke contests and the like have always been one of my favourite things about this board. I would never actually have the guts to participate in one myself though.

Gallery

It's a part of the site that I don't use much myself, but it does seem to be popular enough with the other members. It's serves its purpose well though.

Blog

If it hadn't been for the Channel Ai blog back in the day, I would never have found half of the Japanese artists I listen to now.

Miscellaneous

I dunno. I guess I'll just repeat my request that someone with Photoshop skills make a new skin and that you all get on chat.
