Since it's kinda boring right now with most of us waiting for the upcoming release of "LOVE 99 COOK Tour 2006" and "Yumekui" single in July and August, why not spend some time making this community even better by sharing your opinion about what you feel lacking or need to be improved at Channel-Ai.

Let's break down to a few section to make discussion easier:
  • Community
  • Downloads
  • Forum
  • Rules
  • Features
  • Contest
  • Gallery
  • Blog
  • Misc
And below I'll list some questions that might inspire your discussion, take note that you don't have to answer all of them or restrict your discussion to what I have posted below, they just act as a starting point for your discussion. Due to the vast amount of question and area covered, just pick whatever you want to say the most or if you have time and are willing to share, I'll like to hear them all.

Negative feedback is very welcomed, we all know nothing is perfect so fear not to discuss about them and make things better.

So, do you think the Channel-Ai members are close enough to each other? How strong is the community spirit here, and how close are you to other members? Do you feel at home when you visit Channel-Ai? How often do you visit Channel-Ai? Do you feel happier when you see a new post from one particular member compared to others, why? Did you get to know new people through Channel-Ai? Have you introduced this forum to your family and friends because you like here that much? What makes you liking this place?

If you are one of the frequent poster, what makes you post in this forum? Is there enough incentives for new user to participate? Is there any incentives that attracted you to start posting in the first place? When you first started, what do you feel about this forum, and did your feeling change as you spend more time browsing around and get to know how thing works here?

If you are one of those members that doesn't post as much, or post here less than other forums you visit, what's the reason behind it? Is it because Channel-Ai isn't as "happening" as the other bigger Jpop site? Is it because the people here are less knowledgable and can't provide you an insightful discussion? Or the discussion here is too serious and you think you can't blend in that well? Maybe you feel you know too little to participate in any of the discussion?

What's your opinion about removing the download section from non-regular members? (it's been a while now so it's about time to justify this step I've taken) What's your opinion about the VIP system? Do you think the VIP system is unfair and should be removed?

Do you like the way forum is organized right now? What's your opinion about cramming everything in a single thread, like the way it's being done right now (e.g. one thread for Yumekui's information)? How about cramming every performance about the same song in just one topic (e.g. Frienger TV performances)? Do you feel the rule that prevents creation of topic that only consists of 2 to 3 lines do more harm than good to this forum overall? Do you have trouble making a new topic simply because you are afraid of what you create has already been done before? Do you know how to use search to help you decide on that?

Do you think it's weird that Channel-Ai has no moderators? What's you opinion about moderators, are they "overrated"? Do you feel this forum is dictated by just one admin and more democracy is required? Do you like the way Channel-Ai is right now, in the sense that we have quite a lot of dedicated members (maybe not "that' much) yet new replies doesn't pop up every single minutes? Are you overwhelmed by forum that has lots of replies each day? Or maybe more replies means more chances and motivation for you to join in the discussion without feeling embarassed? Do you think it will be better if there are more replies posted each day?

Are there too many rules? Do these rules actually help to make this place more organized? How much you care about the rules, and how much you know about them? As a member, do you think rules are nothing but a hassle? Do you think these rules have served their purpose and shape this community to the way it is right now? Is that a bad thing? What's your opinion about the strictness of admin when it comes to rules breaking? Do you think those public warning given to each posting ("edit by eyn:" stuff) has served their purpose of raising the awareness of these rules? Is there any rules that you think is unreasonable or not ideal?

Does Channel-Ai has enough features to satisfy your needs? Why nobody goes to the chat room? Do we need to set up a time each week so everyone can meet there and have some fun? Do you use the RSS feature for forum replies? Do you subscribe to certain topic because you don't visit here that often? What features you would like to see in the near future?

Is there enough contest or should we have more? If there's a contest will you participate, and why? What's your opinion about people not voting in a contest poll?

Is there not enough updates on the gallery? How often you visit the gallery? Do you post your comment in the gallery, why? Do you like the gallery interface right now or is it too plain for your taste? Do you know hotlink of gallery images are not allowed? Should this restriction be removed?

Do you know we have a blog? How often you visit the blog, why? Do you post your comment in blog entries, why? What's your opinion about the quality of the articles there? Do you think the blog should be updated with new articles more often? Have you ever thought about writing for the blog, why?

Do you know there's an Ai-chin section? What's your opinion about that?

You should really talk about stuff that hasn't been covered yet up to this point, and please list down a short pro and con list to conclude your posting. I really appreciate your time to fill in this "survey" and write down your honest opinion, and I guess it helps in general to understand what most members have in their mind about Channel-Ai as an online community, and it gives me better idea what to change and what not to change when it's about time to implement something new.

I shall gladly participate in this survey! Smile

I joined Channel-Ai rather recently, but I've had plenty of time to look around and take part in a variety of discussions. Thanks to the well-enforced rules everyone does a very good job at respecting each other from what I have seen. Ever since I joined I have been visiting everyday because I feel very comfortable here. Lately I have been working on things, whether they are translations or lyrics, to try and contribute to Channel-Ai because I know that the community as a whole appreciates this and I feel comfortable sharing my work with others. Because of this, I have been on most of the day and I tend to notice who goes on. I am aware that Channel-Ai has almost 3000 members, but I only notice the same 10-25(? Confused )members logging on, hidden ones rarely come up. These members are usually top-posters or just come often, but I am probably logged in at the wrong time to see more people. I also notice the newest users, but I never see them post. There are definitely enough incentives and discussions for new-users to enjoy here so there is nothing wrong with that. I have interacted with several members here and feel very comfortable having discussions with them (probably because I feel a closer bond with them). Frequent members tend to develop an individualized personality, whether it adds to respect or popularity, but in the end everyone can be a single unit and develop strong community spirit - that is what makes this community great. However I feel that the community is actually much much smaller than the number reads, but it is easier to recognize the more frequent posters this way.

The overall layout of Channel-Ai is very organized. When I try to find something, I know exactly where to go because of the helpful and detailed descriptions of each forum or topic. I have to admit though, there were many topics that nobody seemed to post in anymore and I decided to post in them since I was new - it felt a little awkward. I feel glad though to take part in discussions regardless if they are older or more recent though.

I have read the rules and they are clear enough to understand even after reading it one time. They rules are very well-enforced and I believe that they are necessary. They are not too strict either. However I have encountered a problem that I could not find the answer to in any of the rules or the FAQ.
* I tried Private Messaging last night and an error screen came up. I was worried so I tried sending the message 2 more times, getting the same error message. I received a reply today indicating that all 3 of them were sent through (sorry t0m Embarassed ). It's fixed now but is there a chance that it will come up again?

The chat room is great, it should be used more often. As long as someone stays in there for a while, then others begin to join in.

Downloads, Contest, Gallery, Blog
These are fine the way they are. The VIP system is necessary here at Channel-Ai because it prevents leeching, all the while giving special incentive to the deserving members here. I really like the gallery! I don't go to the Tokyo Friends gallery though because I haven't seen it yet. I am willing to write for the blog though even though I'm not exactly sure what information to contribute. I'd definitely do it!
Having more contests is a good idea I suppose. I'll leave the decision of what kind of contests to Channel-Ai as a whole.

I appreciate your hard work eyn, though I'm sure everyone at Channel-Ai can too Nod . Here's my quick summary pro/con:
Pros - Easy to use, fun, nice features, well-enforced rules, nice community
Cons - The majority of the 2000+ members don't seem to be active...but this does allow members to become closer to each other...maybe?

I thank you for taking the time to improve Channel-Ai even though it is a great place already Wink ! You have made it a very enjoyable place to be and I intend to be an active member for as long as I can!

I've been here quite a long time, and far as i have experienced/seen.
The community spirit in Channel-Ai between different members is great, It couldn't be better as it.

I have no complains about how the forum is organized.
Everything is done nicely, you find everything that you need easily
becouse of the well done interface. NO need to be changed.

Channel-Ai's rules are very easy to understand, no need to be rocket scientist.
These rules should'nt be changed becouse they are quite straight forward rules
and very easy one's to understand they keep this place clean.
[by *clean* i mean this forums is not full of flooder's/spammers etc.

Features: I cant really say,
I've haven't used the chatroom function much. I'm shy person,
but i think its not uneccecary function..mayby it just need's more time.

Downloads, Contest, Gallery, Blog
Let them stay like this, Gallery is easy to use. I've havent used much the blog feature
but i've visit there sometimes.
And in the music/video dowloads: vip list is a good feature/thing dont change that. It keeps leechers away.

i've respect your work eyn and that you have created this place!
Imo theres nothing that should be changed.
Pros - Strong spirit community, easy-to use, great peoples/topics.
Cons - Leechers aka zero posters but the situation imo has gone to better.

as happens with any online community, once it's been online for a while, you get people who've been there for a long time and new ones. so fitting is hard. but that in itself is where i think chai is so much different, in that it is very easy to fit in. that is what keeps bringing members back for more and more. it is also very nice policed. good job eyn. it also very nicely managed, another nice one eyn. i think the community is fine just the way it is. you don't want it to be like the new jaguars... they were fine the way they were but no! the jag people tried to make it better and now the new jags look like aston martins....why spoil a good thing. i think we should leave the community as it is.. let it evolve on it's own.

i'm on the vip list so it might sound a little biased coming from me, but i think that this vip thing is a good idea. in fact, its a great idea. i vote: leave it as it is.

i know its a real pain and they take all the time and effort in the world to manage, but i think, a few more competitions would be nice. im sure there's loads of people willing to help out. we can another karaoke contest, more drawing contests, theme banner contests, the possibilities are endless. but yes, let's spice things up... and what better spice than competitive spirit.

also, eyn, i've spoken to you about an ai-think section, which basically takes ai's personal blog on her official website and puts translations up here. i'm sure if we looked around this forum, we'll find a good handful of people, myself included, who could do those translations. perhaps this could go up on the blog instead.

and i really like ths chai radio idea. let's do that. and we can even have a spot for ai-chin's radio show. i record those ever week so we can get them no problem.

perhaps its time to give more thought to the ch-ai fangroup idea. HilaryDuffFanboy and I have had several correspondences about this idea, and i do remember speaking to you about it too.

the problem with all these ideas is that they need co-ordination, first perhaps a nod from the ch-ai DM ie you eyn (pardon the d&d reference) and then perhaps you appointing either yourself or one of us for that co-ordination.

and now to answer your question. chai rocks. i keep coming back because i have met a lot of people from all over the world. at first we had the love for otsuka ai in common, now we have a lot more in common, and at the top of that list, is our love ch-ai.

ps. i'm getting back to work

I think for the most part, the community here at ch-ai is pretty tightly knit! Most of the members recognize and acknowledge eachother! New people are welcomed in fairly quickly!

I'm pretty satisfied about how the forum is set up now... I'm not really much of a forum person generally haha so I think this is the one I've come to the most so far! I'm not sure what other forums are really like haha but generally, I think that the threads and topics are controlled pretty well as is...!

I'm wondering if maybe (if we can think of that many) we can have 2 contests every year? like one at the middle of the year say around summer time june-ish, july and another one in the winter time so maybe november, december! I think it allows for more of a "festive" experience and most people are a little more free around those times of year because of breaks and stuff! Perhaps one contest can be annual, and another contest can change every once in a while and when people get new ideas for contests??

what do yall think??

I guess that's all i've got for now!

I'm not very close to the members here, mainly because I haven't been as active as I could in the forums. I'd like to get to know everyone more though Nod. I enjoy this community very much, and I feel at home. Though, it sometimes feels as if no one's there to greet me Embarassed. But, that's particularly my fault for not opening up to the members so that I can get to know them better.

The reason behind not posting much was because of either (1) being busy with schoolwork, or (2)not knowing what to post. The last reason may seem "typical", but I really wish that I could share some more things about Ai-chan rather than about myself (i.e. pictures, drawings, etc.). I do enjoy posting these things, but I also want to contribute to what makes this forum an "Ai Otsuka" forum. I also think that I'm not able to blend in with everyone because of my lack of Ai-knowledge. I'll try my best to contribute though! (I love this forum Smile)

I think that it's a really good idea. I haven't downloaded much lately, but I do admit that when I have downloaded, I would sometimes forget to thank the contributor Crying. This was due to the fact that I clicked the link, waited for the download, but closed the window & didn't remember where I got the download. When I do remember, I try to leave a "thanks" that's more than just a "thx 4 sharin". I think removing the download section for those non-regulars gets rid of those who constantly post a "thx 4 sharin" reply.

As for the VIP, I think it may be a little too easy to be part of the list. Even though I'm on it, I do feel like I haven't contributed to the forum enough to be "up to standards". ^_^;

I like how the forum is organized. It's really easy to locate information, and know where to post threads & whatnot. Cramming things into single threads makes it easy to find particular threads of intrest (i.e. "the official ___ thread" lets me find "___" faster than searching through all the pages to look for "___".) I've never used the search tool, so I'm sure that would help too.

I don't think it's weird at all that there are no moderators. I like how it is right now, because the moderator isn't too "pushy" but enforces rules when nessessary. It's also easier to know who is the moderator of the site Nod.

Even though this forum doesn't have as many replies per day, I still enjoy being a part of the community. I understand that there are many dedicated members, and I'm sure that's what makes this community strong as it is. I hope to be as strong as these members Smile

The rules are fine. It's easy to locate where they are, and also know what to do & what not to do. The "edits" serve their purpose to fix minor mistakes, so that the next time that poster posts, they'll learn from that mistake and not redo it (if that makes sense?).

The features are good the way they are. If there were more added, I'd be happy, but I'm content with the way they are at the moment. I do wish more people would participate in the chatroom. I entered a couple times, but found myself talking to myself. Laughing

A couple contests per year would be enough I think. The karaoke contest seemed really fun. I wish I were able to participate in that. Maybe an "annual karaoke" contest? Drawing contest? "look-a-like"? I think it'd bring the community to become more active Smile

I visit the gallery occassionally, but not as much any more. I think it's good that hotlinking is not allowed. It uses bandwidth, right? ( I'm not too smart when it deals with things like that ^_^;; ) I don't leave comments for the pictures, though, I'm sure it'd be a good idea to do so. Embarassed

I've read the blogs about once or twice. I enjoyed them very much Smile. I wasn't aware of the Ai-chin section, but I'm curious to find it now!

I'm sorry if my answers contridict one another. I hope this helps a bit ^_^.

From all the forums I have used before (JPop, JRock, Skateboarding) Channel Ai has to me the nicest members. I guess you can say I don't really know many of them but I've talked to a few and they're all nice people. The community spirit is definitely stronger here, because unlike other sites, members don't really get into arguements here. They kind of just take the help or try to work it through. Community spirit is a definite plus.

I think it's fine the way that it is. Maybe the VIP should be changed to only top posting/people who post better on this site. When I first joined I was surprised to get VIP download because I thought the system was already like that.

The way it's organized so there aren't so many topics (such as chat, download, anime, etc.) is really good to me. I can never stand a forum where it has like a thousand topics so that each folder only gets like one posts, forums like that are just a mess of space to me, and it'll never become a good forum if not changed, so Channel-Ai having less folders is definitely good. (Sorry if it is confusing, I do not know what they are called...)

Well, actually I read the rules before but I forgot them, but, it never seems to be that I really run into the need to see the rules because they're pretty general rules, and it's not like anything that shouldn't be posted is.

++Chatroom Features:
I think the chatroom should be promoted more, I've never been in there with other people before.

I've never seen any contests, so I'm not sure.

The gallery is useful, but it's still a bit empty, but I guess as time goes it'll get fuller. By the way, what does add to cart mean?

Yes I've seen it before. Last time I saw it which was a couple of months ago it was of like Hello Project and Gackt topics, I'm not really interested in neither so I didn't go back after.

Well, when I first joined it kept saying error on line...., well, it took me a couple of days before it stopped saying error (I kept trying to change things so it would stop saying that but it didn't), but I'm guessing that was probably my computer.

I tried it out just now. There are several things you can do with the selected pictures in your cart. The main purpose I think is to be able to download the selected pictures into a .zip file.

Kazfz chan already posted this, but did the error look like this?
If so, then I think a lot of us experienced it at some point.

Hmm...did the error message come up everytime you tried to post?
I haven't seen that specific error before. These two errors are probably the result of a small and temporary problem, not so sure if it was just your computer that was faulty. I don't think that they can cause any serious problems though (at least the one I had didn't, how about yours?). The error I had came up everytime I tried to post or send a PM, all of the messages went through successfully though.
