Hi there everyone, I just spent the longest time ever making this new Yumekui forum style, first of all I'm using a new style as my base, called Paperclip, by the same creator as NoseBleed. A lot of changes are needed for different mods installed in this forum, and they really takes a lot of time Anyway, it's finally done, hopefully there's not too many bugs. Tell me if you have any problems with this new style.
As usual I tried to take elements from the official site and fit them into a forum style that I like. This time the modifcation is quite different due to the completely new base style and I also managed to learn some new CSS techniques while researching how to fix certain things, such as how not to break the fixed layout width when there's ridiculously long sentence that tend to stretch the page. I guess it's fun making this, even though it's very tiring.
So, I added something fun for this theme just to spice up your life a little at Channel-Ai (if it hasn't been spicy enough ). The header image you are seeing right now, most likely, is an empty city without any living things. However, there's a 1/6th chance for you to find living things in the header image, and when that happens, well, you must be lucky on this special day. This kinda only works for Firefox user, since IE refreshes the header image on each page load instead of each site visits, the probablity of you seeing the extra header image become way higher, so you can't really say you're lucky when you see one.
I believe this new forum style requires Javascript enabled in order to do the hide and show effects, so don't forget to turn it on! If you have popup blocker for your browser, be sure to add Channel-Ai to your unblock list if you haven't do so. You will receive popup alert when you receive new private message and a popup greetings on your birthday.
You might want to install "Lucida Grande" if your computer doesn't have this font yet, it's the primary font used in most Channel-Ai forum style. Arial will be used when "Lucida Grande" cannot be found. btw, "Lucida Grande" looks the best when you have ClearType turned on in your XP.
Some new features has also been recently added but I haven't made an announcement yet, still I notice some of you has managed to discover some of them already. First feature I would like to introduce is the new statistics page. Consider this as a new way to understand Channel-Ai better or even browse Channel-Ai. Some of the more useful information you can get are "most viewed topics", "most active topics", "top posting users this month" etc. There are also some pretty stupid ones like "top smilies", "most used words" etc. Take note that there are no guarantee that any of this ranking reflects the real world situation, for example the top smilies ranking cannot be totally right seeing is at the second rank.
Another new feature is "Modify last visit time". I'm not sure if any of you have experienced problem with the highlighting of new topics before. It happens quite frequently to me, and when new topic isn't highlighted it's most likely because the last visit time got screwed up. For example, you last checked the forum one day ago but when you visit it today you found out that there's no new topics since last visit! Then if you check your "last visit time" (usually above "Who Is Online list"), it says your last visit is 1 minute ago! lol, that's where the problem is, the forum is currently teling you there's no new topic since a minute ago, but it's not telling you if there's any new topic since yesterday! To fix this, you can now click "edit" button next to last visited time, and change it back to yesterday.
btw, as a small warning here, do not abuse this feature and randomly put in a date for your last visits. If you do, there might be a chance of losing your account because the forum thinks you haven't logged in for too long or your last logged in the future!
I guess, that's all for my message this time. The main thing is still the forum style, as usual I would like to get some feedbacks and comments about it. Don't forget to vote in the poll, as usual! |

Impressive, eyn!
I was taken by surprise when I logged in, but I think I've gotten used to how everything works now. Besides seeing the names of other members who are logged in, I noticed that we can see which part of the forum they are browsing as well. By default, the overall layout is very simple and organized since the main menus are visible at first, and we can select the "Menu" tab to see the others.
What I *really* like about this layout is how the ava/sig don't appear. This makes it unique from the other layouts, and posts are easier to read without distractions from larger signatures. Most importantly, this layout is very suitable for those members who have dial-up because loading avatars and signatures takes some time for them. Posts look a lot "cleaner" with your fixed width, and all of the Emoticons seem to complement very well with the Yumekui-themed colors of the layout.
Thank you very much for "spicing" up Channel-Ai, eyn! 10/10!
Hmm... As much as I enjoy the Yumekui layout, I tried changing the board style to other ones, but they don't seem to be working for me. Unless, of course, your plan is to embrace everyone in the luxury of Yumekui for a while. After all, you worked so hard to make this! Either way, I'm going to stick with this for the time being. |

Well I have to say I really love this theme, because it looks simple and elegant to me. The new features actually is quite useful for most of the users here, dude your skill is getting pro! Great job eyn!
I wonder is it doesn't friendly to IE, when I click on a link, it still open that link with same page, so is it possible to change it? Maybe automatically open a new windows will be much more better. What do you think? |

Loving this new style and at the same time, not liking it.
Loving it because it's purple and it's a new style. Not liking it because I'm havinga hard time adjusting to this style. For example, as yukarichan mention, all the avastar and sig are gone. I'm one of those people who recognized members' post by their avastar and sig, rather than their username. Another thing is the useful button "quote" is gone
This layout reminds me of the Neko ni Fuusen layout: it's simple, and pretty.
How can I make sure the random header is working for me? Because right now I see more than a plain city.

Usually after we get a new theme, eyn sets is as a default for a few days. So after awhile, you'll be able to choose which layout to use. But for now, it's Yumekui for everyone! |

I think most people got a little confused with this new theme. First of all, the avatar and sig are not totally gone, but hidden by default and you can make them show up by clicking on the username above each post! Those quote buttons are also available in the expanded box after you click on the name. Make sure javascript is enabled or clicking on the username won't do anything at all. My advice for using this new theme is "click everywhere to see what you gonna get".
I know this theme is quite radically different but please give yourself some time to get familiar with the interface. This is also one of the reason why I force the style override so some of you can give this theme a chance instead of saying "ah, too confusing, screw this!" without giving it a second thought. Forced override is also a way to let people know "we have a new style!" without worrying if they have any knowledge about switching forum styles.
So far the poll is looking good, but I hope you guys don't just vote for the best option trying to make me happy when you actually hated this theme.
P.S. There are only 2 header images at the moment, with one being harder to get than the other. If you cannot see any living things in your header image it means you got the normal one. |

| I Remained true to myself and I shall not lie. I think the Yumekui Board Style is cute... but really I prefer the AdInfinitum Board style. I can't see the Avatars and Siggy and to do that I still have to click the names. I appreciate Eyn apending time and effort just to do this board but I'm not into it.... So I'm very sorry Eyn. Don't punish me please. Anyway.... I will try to give the Board a chance and not give up on it even if it's quite confusing. I understand now the use of Force override. |

I'm shocked... I don't know what to say.. It looks good, but I still love the LOVE COOK the most!! It certainly is different!! I dislike the header i'm seeing now... But I LOVE the "press the name and see the sig & avatar"-thingy Btw, I guess I got the normal header since it doesn't move? It is a little empty with only a city.. BUT!! I'm going to use this style!! I gotta get used to it, since it's so different but nice!!
And this layout must help ponpon, ne? Since ponpon had trouble with all the siggys and avatars. |

Woah!
I was wondering when you'd sneak up on us from behind and surprise us all with a new forum style celebrating ai-chin's new single....
New poll: Is eyn becoming predictable?
In a good way buddy, in a good way, shows that us freeloaders have come to expect some things from our admin and our excellent admin always ALWAYS delivers!
About the new theme: This new theme is awesome. Once again, you have managed to produce the best colour scheme for this style that really nicely complements the colours of the single. And if I may, I like to think deep into things, I think that this style is very becoming of the single too, just like in dreams, what you see is what you get, but sometimes, if you look closer, there's an entire new world to be found with hidden meanings and added adventure... just like the click&expand system on this new style where you click stuff to show the expanded menu or ava+sigs or the options when posting... very nicely done indeed. I also like how now with the ava+sigs gone, threads look like posts on a blog ... .. I wonder if you were really trying to get that effect?
However,
I may seem all praise for this new style but truth be told, it's not me. For the same reason why I didn't like the Frienger style, it's too colourful... too bright...too pinky-purple . Also, I agree with Aprilis, I too recognise a lot members' posts by their ava+sigs and having to click a button to show each of them seperately is a bit too much effort for this lazy @$$ of mine... Sorry buddy, not to throw water over all that effort you put in, as a fellow web-programmer, I can appreciate the sheer amount of planning and coding you must have put into this, and all the people who like it will use it, and rightfully so. I too will try and enjoy this new style for the next couple of days, and breathe a sigh of content when my nice plain usual style is restored.
I'll tell you this much though, I'm looking forward to seeing that special 1/6 chance header though... that sounds exciting.
otsukare...

Sorry eyn, but I had to give a vote for
"This is way too minimalistic for me, I can't see the ava and sig! OMG!"
Firstly, everything is nice, from design to colour theme, but that poll option totally mirrored my thoughts on its features. It's annoying to have to click on people's login names just to check their profile, their avatar and signatures, or to even quote them. The actual threads looks so bare and minimalistic as you put it.
I would think that allowing for people to have an option of having a more traditional setting with avatars and signatures and quoting options with the same layout would make some people happy, and definitely having the option of using previous board layouts. (I am still physically tied to the Planetarium layout)
To conclude, it's got a very nice design but with an unusual functions settings that will take time to adapt to. |
