Quote: Q: [At what times do you feel happy?]
A: [I would say anytime, but mostly when my thoughts are able to communicate. Whether it’s a song that communicates or children that want to grow-up to be like their mothers, just anytime certain things connect and become understandable. Metaphorically, it’s just playing catch with someone. I feel very happy when the ball returns to me, so to speak. It would be my dream to have something like that happen everyday.]
*dies* << I love her so much
thanks for the translation Celcius, I'm away in London at the moment, and so have been reduced to checking ch-ai once a day on my friend's computer... I read the actual excit interview the other day and thought it was very cool. It's a different interviewer than the Frienger interview isn't it?
I have to say that I did notice the male perspective of yumekui along time ago but the Momo no Hanabiria - tears connection was news to me, unfortunately I don't have either song on my mp3 player... but i got a text from my flatmate yesterday, there's a package waiting for me ... yey, yesasia delivered my new yumekui cd+dvd i'll have to compare them properly with the momo no hanabira sakuranbo version and chk it out for myself...
love the new pictures as well, stunning!
everyone, remember to chk out ai-chin on Music Station on the 4th of August.

Hi sis Yangirl. I'm Taisuke from your forum .
I view this topic and found out that you're the author of this. But it seems that Ashley_khanh ripped it already, so I think, at first, thank you for your hard work here as well ^^. |

You're welcome everyone!
She definitely writes a lot of meaning into her songs. I was thinking about the things she said in the interview, and I began to think whether Ai would only have wanted her songs to have one perspective - her own - rather than the listeners "decorate" it themselves. I think the exact same way when I read Murakami Haruki's books, Kafka on the Shore and stories from The Elephant Vanishes. Obviously the author (as well as the composer in this case) have their own intentions when they write certain things to represent ideas in one form or another, but can he or she easily accept the ideas that are added on by the audience? Just like in the short story "Barn Burning," there exists a simple idea, like a foundation, and we "decorate" it with whatever feelings we have to create an orginal idea, but based off the fundamentals (well, something like that anyway). If I was the interviewer, I would really like to ask Ai how she would react to this. Of course it's not like those who have a different image of the song are rejecting her ideas, rather they are adding their own feelings to it, thus making it more special to them. I'm rambling again.
Time to get off-topic.
You're right, Lainay! When I think about it, it does remind me of "The BFG." I read that story back in 3rd or 4th grade... how nostalgic. Anyway yes, I can make that (almost random XD) connection. btw, you originally called me Degree5C Boy, but there are the other variations now. XD |

Thanks yangril for uploading the pics, vids and Celsius005 for such a wonderful translation,it make me understand more about the song and Ai-chan as well. The interview is so long.
Indeep, I love songs that refers to seeing dreams and wishing upon dreams since I'm chasing after my dream now ^^ , but I don't know Yumekui is that kind, now I love it much more cause it has so much meaning to me ^^. If Ai-chan's goal through this song is to give the listenner new-found courage, she really did it (at least to me).
So interesting to know that Ai-chan always has the feeling that Baku is chasing after her and be ready to eat her dreams anytimes ^^, I think it's how she did great works, do it be for Baku caught you ^^. Is Baku the animal that bring the boy to Ai-chan and alter that bring him to the girl and finally eat the heart above their head in the animated Yumekui PV.
Knowing Ai-chan worked hard on tears, I really appreciate her work and start to listen to it more.
Quote: Q: [Everyone seems to sing your songs instead of just telling you, “This is a great song.” (laugh)]
A: [Yes, it does seem that way.]
such a cute way to tell people that their works are great, suitable to Ai-chan. As for Celsius005, is it suitable?

Of course not a famous one...
But yes, I studied voice for a while.
I was first-chair soprano in a choir (traditional and jazz), and I picked up a few substantial roles in various local productions. What I really loved, though, was doing three-part harmony with two friends through-out high school.
I still love to sing, but I actually hate performing--why I never persued it seriously. |

Do I believe that it is suitable for Ai?
Of course I do, after all having others sing with you gives off strong feedback in itself. It's one thing to have an audience to listen to you while you are performing, but having them sing along with you is something better. Under such circumstances, words spoken in a direct approach are unnecessary. Nothing could possibly make a composer any happier than to have others appreciate their work while adding their own heart to it by singing or playing it themselves--it is an unsurpassed form of feedback.
However if that question is referring to myself, I would have to say the same, but I cannot answer that question for myself yet. Unlike Ai, the publicity my talent receives is close to nothing, yet I have a method to share my work with others via the piano arrangement request thread and through e-mail. As far as I know, only one person has given me feedback after trying them out. I received both positive and negative feedback for my arrangements, but simply knowing that this person gave time and consideration into actually trying them out made an impact.
I said I cannot answer this for myself because the only work I have released thus far are no more than arrangements of someone else's work. I made my own composition, but I haven't released sheet music for it yet, therefore it would be impossible for others to play it themselves. This is fine for me because it's more for my own personal enjoyment rather than distribution among others. Besides, the Finale Showcase is completely ruined, and world-wide distribution is risky due to copyright violations--I can't expect people to not steal my work if I can't enforce it.
I remember doing three-part harmony with my classmates, well, it was a saxophone trio. Those cooperative performances in competition were really great, and it's only a shame that I can't participate in Solo&Ensemble anymore...
I feel the same way, zyzzyva. I really enjoy playing sax, but I'd rather not take it seriously. Having it as a personal hobby is satisfying enough in my opinion. |
