Ummm I think she's overdoing a little bit. It's normal to get sick from time to time, she acts as if her disease would be like an 'insult' to the other people because she had to cancel a few promotional things. But thats they way japanese people are, sigh No.

^ she must have got heaps of messages while she has been ill and feels like she has let people down. but of course it is not her fault. in one of her interviews she mentions her personal avex staff and how she feels responsible for them so she strives to do well. yes, this is all very Japanese.

I tried to translate it:

The rainy season comes every year

Rain.

I don't like, when will I start loving it?

It often falls down in october.

The sound of rain and the smell of rain.

Delicate and lovely.

The rain outside is heavy.

"Beautiful rain", you want to take care of the children.

Hmmm, they are still fine (laughing).

The coundown for my beloved summer begins ♪

Very good job Crystallas! I took a stab at myself. I am not completely sure about my translation of Line 7, but I think it is right. It is like Ai-chin to play on words or use characters that could be used in different manners.

I don't like it but, (wondering about) the time when I will come to love it. why do I feel this way about rain?

Well, Smile
3 translations and there are 3 differences in some parts. Tongue

● Title
A bit different because the preference of the words. Tongue (I chose the original Japanese that Aichin put Smile )
● Line 1
Who have different translation? Laughing
● Line 2
Mine completely different. Tongue
● Line 3
Mine is the same with Smily's. Smile
● Line 4
Who have different translation (part 2)? Laughing
● Line 5
I translated it as "Lovely in softness.". I use "in" because of "で". Smile
● Line 6
Mine is the same with Smily's (part 2). Smile
● Line 7
Yeah, this is difficult. But I have my translation. Tongue
● Line 8
Slightly different than Smily's. Tongue
● Line 9
I use "until it comes", because there is word "まで". Smile

^ Yes. Interesting.. I tried to translate it to the English equivilent regarding the feeling of the words versus direct translation.

Re: Miu and Beautiful rain... Is there such Japanese word as beautiful rain written like this? I like the play on words even if I stretched it a bit.. more poetic, I think. Tongue

I love your translation Smily, trying to capture the poetry of her words into English as I had tried to do (and failed mostly)

Japanese can be really tricky to translate, so no two translations will ever be the same. Smile
Keep at it guys (and girls)

I mentioned this to a friend a while ago, but her previous Ai-Think entry (121) ended in a very touching rhyme that seemed to have gotten ignored by the discussion over her illness:

いつも いつも 感謝して います。
いつも いつも 想って います。

i-tsu mo i-tsu mo kan-sha shi-te i mass(u)
i-tsu mo i-tsu mo o-mo te i mass(u)

Always and always, thanking you.
Always and always, thinking of you.

I also wish she had a more active blog somewhere, although I suppose she loves singing and babbling more than writing.

The rain which preoccupies my mind to the extent that I am thinking of naming my child Miu.

What was "missing" in the poem were the words 美雨と 言う名前を つけたいくらい

So according to my household fluent Japanese speaker... I was correct about Miu, but the unwritten words made this very difficult for all of us... Mui to tsuketai kurai would normally be spoken as Miu to iu namae wo tsuketai gurai (gurai meaning about to the extent). Hearing it out loud made perfect sense.

So If Ai-chin has a baby girl some day, she might name her Miu. I like it. Especially after watching LIB 6th for the 50th time earlier today. Love

I had a look at the line, and I dont believe she was referring to naming children at all (although "Miu" is a very nice name).

She tends to use a lot of metaphors so it can get really confusing to be sure if she is talking about herself or something else, especially given the nature of the Japanese language

The problem is the interpretation of the particle 'と' following "Miu", and also the comma immedietly proceeding it which shouldn't be taken lightly.

My interpretation is this:
Quote:
Just like a child, (I) want to care about the rain, (to call it) "Miu".

"Miu" is used as a quote, and the rest of the line is about what its about, which is how you also interpreted it, but I dont think Ai-Chin would even hint at becoming a mother just yet in her career.

I could be wrong ofcourse, nya? Tongue

I think so, because it uses kakko (「」) for 美雨. So it's not a people name I think. Smile

Yes, it very difficult, because there is particle と and the comma.

I guess we will have to find Ai-chin and ask her to know for sure... Laughing

My wife is actually Japanese and it is her first and only fluent language. She is 100% sure that it is Miu... There is most probably a metaphor at play here, but hearing it read out loud actually makes sense at the surface level to even one like myself who is far from fluent.
