Channel-Ai radio is a project inspired by Celsius005 while we're chatting in the chat room. I quickly made and released the very first version a while ago, which only included mp3 posted in the Ai's single thread. I spent the last few days tweaking the radio more to work with the blog, now it's able to fetch mp3 hosted for the Channel-Ai blog as well, which includes a lot of songs from different artists, most of them are linked to specific articles, while those that don't have a link yet are for upcoming articles.
Not sure how many of you are like Celsius005 who is sharing his computer with his family, thus making it inconvenient to download any multimedia files from the web. If this applies to you, hopefully the radio can provide you the music you like without saving any of them into your computer. Clearing browser cache once you're done should clean it up for you.
If you don't have any family computer problem mentioned above, Channel-Ai radio also act as a good way to introduce yourself to the Channel-Ai blog. Picking "_blog" from the drop down box will allow you to browse through collection of songs by artists covered in Channel-Ai blog so far. Most songs have a small arrow on the right hand side, clicking the arrow will bring you to the blog article related to that particular song, neat eh? If you're those people who has been reluctant to listen to H!P like Morning Musume, J-Rock like HYDE, J-Pop like Ayumi Hamasaki, Johnny Boys like KAT-TUN, newcomer like sifow, disbanded band like ZONE, indie artist like spespy, Channel-Ai radio will hopefully show you the path to a bigger, better music world.
By default, shuffle is turned on, but you can turn it off by playing with the drop down box. If you have questions, problems when using the radio or if you have new feature request, feel free to post them in this thread. Do take note that if you are not a Channel-Ai member (or is not logged in), this radio will not work at all (to prevent noobs from copying and paste the radio code into their myspace etc.), nor will the "Radio" link be shown in the forum menu.
Playlist are cached and regenerated every 24 hours, so if the playlist is taking a while to load, keep in mind that it might be generating a new list (which takes a while, around 15s) instead of loading them from cache. |

There were ZONE songs I didn't know were included in the blog! And a lot of songs showed up that I didn't know you guys reviewed, So, my answer is yes! Great job |

I can't thank you enough, eyn. The radio works perfectly and offers privilege to Channel-Ai members. I'm sure that listening to various songs from the blog will motivate more people to take a look (if they haven't already) and see if anything interests them, hopefully expanding their knowledge of music. Perhaps this will liven up the forum and flush out some active members... Wouldn't *that* be a nice change of pace around here?
[rather than adding a play button on the header of every layout, the radio is a more practical idea ]
So from now on, any songs uploaded to the Channel-Ai blog will be included in the radio? That's great! With new articles come more chances and exposure for members to immerse themselves in the world of unknown artists. This radio will help members become familiar with other artists, thus allowing them to participate in more thoughtful, thorough discussions. I'm now motivated to get started on my SMAP articles, but unfortunately, I have writer's block... [I think I'll actually begin writing when school starts next week... ]
Once again you've outdone yourself, eyn! We truly appreciate your hard work and dedication to make Channel-Ai a better place for us all, and we will continue to support you in your future endeavors!
Alright, let's do what we can to help out too! |

Can you elaborate what makes the content so far "weak"? Is there not enough information covered in each articles? What kind of content is consider "strong", can you give some example sites that have strong content?
btw we (McBloggers) are all writing for the blog using our free time, and a lot of effort went into each article to ensure the quality is there (invisible to you, sadly), it's very disappointing getting complaints about the quality of content. I hope you do have some concrete evidence to back up your point so we can take your critique seriously and make improvements in areas we lack, or your comment did nothing more than hurting and discouraging those writers that have spent a lot of effort in writing good articles.
There's constructive criticism and destructive ones, I hope yours fall in the former category. |

Ah, this is great! Thanks so much, both Celsius005 and eyn, for getting this radio up! I really do hope this gets more visitors to the blog. I'm already seeing more comments and visitors every day! ^_^ This is like Yumekui with Tokyo Friends, . Anywho, I voted "no", for obvious reasons. XD The blog has always been interesting and awesome, and it always will be interesting and awesome. Like how, once again, I've always been interested in Ai, and her being in Tokyo Friends doesn't change that. ^^
Um.. weak content? *laughs* That's hilarious. Really. But I guess that means I'll have to pump my posts with more of this so called "content"! XD Unless kazfz means it's weak in the number of posts? Obviously this isn't like one of those blogs that have 5 posts a day, but these posts are filled with nice information, take a while, and we spend lots of energy on them. Quality, not quantity. |

and nope i dont mean one article content but the overall content..... Like ok i'll put it this way for some reason i seem to offend you. To me i'm just saying im not a blog fan .... Sorry, this will be my final comment.
1. i mean updates [ sometimes it goes quite nothing for a week ? ] i dont mean the whole content of a particular article is bad [ it is good enought but there would always be room for improvemnt ] but the updates arent as good, 'almost daily' new updates keeps people want to come back and look for more related things. For me updates means alot [ maybe its just me that is feed by daily updates on blog .....] - Any new single that have high expectation or special Theme songs are small things that can be mention - Known as news -. [ Not everyone is interested in song that is just released only. ] ... I cant understand that this blog is about review but news are small thing that make people feel welcome. OR you are only focusing on a few artist than i have nothing to much to complain but currently chann-ai blog doesnt look like it focus only on a few artist. [ Ai is inculded of cos. ]
I don't write blogs myself + im just not a big review blog fan myself. i shouldnt use the word weak... [ now i feel like a bastard. ]
2. You might wanna inculde the sales progress ?
3. For the anime part, YUI's Life was not mention that it is a song for Bleach ? [ you can add something like which episode is it used in ? ]
4. maybe you can mention about the lyrics wise, why is it bad or good ? any speciality about it ? For example tears "kimi no koto omoidase ba namida gaafuretekuru ", the more it is being repeated, the climax built up makes it dramatically sad ? - a sign of good lyrics maybe ?
5. so far i think this one is rather important too [ to me ] the single Tracks ? what is inculded in it ? [ becos some singles doesnt inculde (instrumental songs or they have Intro/interlude/outro )] [ it would nice to see the price too ?... hehe at the same time you can add your yesaisa link ??? people hear and goes like "WOW !!! IM GONNA GET IT ??" ?? [ sorry for puting marketing skills in but its like at the same time, increasing the funds for the site ? ]
Kazfz isnt gonna say so much next time..... the more i say the more blunt i go... and say the wrong things. |

kazfz, there's nothing wrong to point out that something's bad, in fact that's one of the driving force that makes thing better, too bad in your previous post you didn't mention what these things are, making your post looks like nothing but a discouraging message for blog writers.
While this topic should have been focused on the radio instead of the blog, I'll answer all of your suggestion and critiques here. And no, you don't need to stop posting comments on this because there's no reason to (but maybe you should post in the blog thread instead of this radio thread), and no I'm not offended, but feeling your previous post kinda whiny.
1. McBloggers write when we have the time, there's no working hours, no salaries, and no requirement on how many articles you need to write. We are not a news site, thus you won't see frequent update as you would see on news site. The nature of the blog is very different from what you expect, judging from what you wrote. You should probably focus your comparison with some other blogs that do what we do to make some of the points more valid. Channel-Ai blog will never turn into a news site, there's other blogs that are already doing an excellent job on that, Mark's ikkimashoi, Cherryblossom Garden's Jpop News blog are some excellent examples.
2. ikkimashoi has weekly sales update on their blog, and no that's not what Channel-Ai blog is about.
3. That's minor details that doesn't matter, the article is about YUI, not Bleach.
4. Some of the articles did include simple lyrics analysis into the review (see my "Frienger" review). It is up to the writer to decide what to include, such as pictures, music, videos etc., blog writers have a lot of control on that.
5. I don't really get what you mean here, are you saying download for every single tracks? or you're asking for reviews on those instrumental tracks, sorry, I don't understand too well what you mean. For the price, most single and album are about the same, also it varies from store to store, making it a little pointless to put them into every single review. We can consider putting more associate links in our reviews.
It is not about "blunt" here, I think you misunderstand why I'm not very happy with your previous post. The reason is you mentioned "this sucks" but didn't say "why this sucks", and that didn't really help to make things better. Constructive criticism is always welcomed, but not destructive ones.
With all that said, I do appreciate your input on this, but maybe you should try to use proper English instead of Singlish to avoid ambiguities and confusions. |

Thank you eyn and Celsius005!
It's great being able to hear a variety of artists (and some that I have never heard songs from - which will hopefully increase my 'listen list')
I will also make sure to check the blog out - (recently started to read blogs as they seem to be a very good source of information/things that interest me)

I voted yes. Mainly because, just like Eyn mentioned, I'm one of those people that doesn't download songs unless I like them/the artist; so the radio can help me discover a wider range of music easier. And also, when I'm not on my own computer I can still come to Ch-ai to get some music.
I think Kazfz totally misunderstood the purpose of the blog. I find the content very well-written and organized. I read it from time to time. One article can sometimes introduce me to new songs or artists I end up finding out more and listening to for weeks, so I have no problem with the frequency of updates. Plus it's very nice of the bloggers to take out their own time to write for all of us. If anything I would love to see more articles about Doramas so I can learn more about those as well.
And same as Eyn, I find your writing quite hard to read, Kazfz. ^^;;; I think using proper English would increase the quality of your posts and make it easier to read for others. ^^ |

Impressive. Again you manage to provide something extremely innovative and exciting. I'm glad about that. Makes Channel Ai even more unique and exciting.
I love how the whole window looks. It looks like a minature winamp player and the pink really fits in with the whole dark theme. Also this also could be interesting for those who want to get to know new artists without getting to download anything beforehand. Thank you again for your hard work. |

Most of that is true. I think it's unfair to critisize the blog so harshly when we are taking time out of our own lives to contribute to the JPop community. I, for one, barely have time for anything these days, I'm taking hard courses this semester, I really need to rest, I'm sick, and um, I can't write 5 articles in an hour. The quality of the articles, are above average if I do say so myself, and each of us put our heart into each article we write. T_T
Anyways. RADIO!?!?!??! Awesome!!!! |
