Many people have likened Renai Shashin as Ai's ballad single of 2006 just like Planetarium was Ai's ballad single in 2005.
So in terms of the song only (forget about prettiness of PV's and/or live performances), which is better? Also, it would be good if you guys refrain from choosing the 3rd option!
I think there's been enough time for people to listen to Renai Shashin to decide....
As for me, I will give Renai Shashin a vote. I wasn't overly impressed at first, but I am loving it more and more each time. It's a really pretty and sweet song with great lyrics. I think it just tips Planetarium in my mind, and this is coming from someone who has been in love with Planetarium since they were a fan. |

| I definitely like Planetarium more. ^^;; I think Renai Shashin is really sweet and beautiful, but it just sound very... er.. "simple" to me compared to Planetarium. There are a lot of repeats and such, while Planetarium has more of a flow, ups and downs. |

its sound better than Planetarium, im judging from the melody itself..... i think renai shashin won it but for lyrics, i have no idea but i just prefer the meaning of renai shashin more than Planetarium, the building up feeling is good
So im buying it !!...... well after so long mentioning all those things LOL [ idiot things from Kazfz, i finally decided ]........ i didnt buy Yumekui and was sad but this time !! i've got two singles to buy !!........ |

Yea, Jerry we talked about it b4~ interesting topic~ But i think i would still go for Planetarium rather than 恋愛写真~ I think 恋愛写真 is realli gd as well but maybe the whole thing was a bit too plan for me~ I'm not sayign it's not a gd song, in fact i listen to it the most nowadays but overall i still think Planetarium still wins~
PS: I still love Kingyo Hanabi the most~ haha |

I would have to choose Planetarium, but it was hard for me to decide. Planetarium has always been my favorite Ai ballad, and it always will be... unless she makes a new ballad that completely blows me away more than Planetarium did.
I agree with caffeinated about Renai Shashin sounding more simple. It took a while for this song to grow on me, but it's still a great song that I like to put on repeat. |

planetarium...the melody makes it all that more 'exciting' i must say altho renai shashin would be more of the relaxing song..it's chorus repitition doesn't exactly make me want to listen to it too many times in a row.. |

Had to agree with you too short+simple The chorus for renai shashin isn't that "exciting".. The melody is great, it is just the repeating of the same line that is ermmmm....
Overall, I will voye for Planetrium |

Planetarium.
Finally, agreeing to those who have mentioned the chorus is repetitive in "Renai shin." "Planetarium" is so much better, it's my fav. ballads. |

Oh well, "Renai Shashin" isn't those song that blows you away the first few time you listen to it (due to its "slow" tempo nature), but I'm sure it will surely grow on you guys sooner or later. "Planetarium" is more "exciting" as some of you have brought up, its tempo is much faster than "Renai", making "Renai" seem plain and lifeless in a way. Also, "Renai"'s lyrics is much simpler and has less variation.
However, if you ask me which one gives you more a "lovely" or "melancholic love" feeling, I would have to go with "Renai Shashin". It's even more girly than "Planetarium", when you might have thought if it's possible. I think it will be sweeter to have a girl singing "Renai Shashin" to you compared to say, "Planetarium".
With all that said, I couldn't say which is "superior" at the moment, I believe the PV has a lot to do with the feelings, and it's unfair to judge "Renai" right now seeing how you guys have been "brainwashed" by "Planetarium"'s PV as well as the tie-in with "Hana Yori Dango". I'll post here again after I saw the PV.
Lastly, "Kingyo Hanabi" could have been put into the comparison as well, it's her classic ballad from 2004, just like what "Planetarium" is for 2005. |

Renai Shashin is a really great song, and I really like it, bu it just didn't get to me like that. Not like Planetarium.
Renai Shashin is very sweet, the melody, the lyrics. But Planetarium is different.
Beside Planetarium got me to know Ai-chan, it'll always be my fave. |

The reason why I didn't include a 2004 ballad is because there were two.. Daisuki da yo and Kingyo Hanabi... I think Daisuki da yo is her classic ballad of 2004.... it has so much meaning and story behind it. |

By melody itself, I think both are tied, however, given everything put together I woiuld have to choose Planetarium over Renai Shashin because.
a. Planetarium had an incredible arrangement and effect.
b. Planetarium had great lyrics
c. Her voice sounds really good in Planetarium.
The only thing that annoys me about Renai Shashin is that I'm not overly fond of how her voice sounds. She kind of ending up squeaking a little, and normally I don't mind squeaky voices, but something about it just says it should have been better with a different voice. |

*nods in agreement*
I was very prepared to like Renai Shashin, because the title has so much promise, and it's not that the song disappointed me or anything, but it's just that there isn't anything explosion in the chorus or the bridge. It didn't give me the goosebumps that her other ballads gave me. |
