Death Note (movie)

The human whose name is written in this note shall die.
Synopsis:
Shinigami own notebooks called "Death Notes" which are used as killing devices. The person with the name they write down in a death note will die within 40 seconds. Light Yagami finds the "Death Note" on the road one day. Out of boredom, he decides to try to create a Utopia by killing off all criminals in the world, in what he calls justice. Soon the world's greatest detective, "L," is hired to find the perpetrator. Each with their own idea of justice in mind, an all out battle between the greatest minds on earth begins.

Death Note: The Last Name

Synopsis:
Picking up where the first one leaves off, Light joins the task force searching for Kira in an effort to avert suspicion from himself---and get rid of L.

I realised that no one has started a thread on Death Note, so I was wondering if there were any other Death Note fans here?

Anyway, the movie based on the manga is coming out soon in Singapore (19th October), and I'm really really excited! ^_^ Anyone who has watched it before? It premiered in Japan quite some time ago...not sure about other countries though.[/img]

I just saw some clips of it awhile ago on youtube and I'm hoping that someone will subtitle it or better yet see it on DVD here in Canada. I loved the manga and the anime looks just as amazing; you can bet that the movie has me excited too. The cast looks very fitting, especially L. The only thing that kind of turns me off is the fact that they used Red Hot Chilli Peppers songs. I really like the band, but it seems really out of place and random.

TOTALLY!! Boogie He has so much style in him..Have you finished reading the manga yet? Not wanting to spoil the story for you. But anyway, I'm really proud that I like "hello panda" as much as he does Tongue Jester, Canada is not showing the movie? That's really sad for you. I haven't head the song, but it does seem a little weird that they are using a song by Red Hot Chilli Peppers >_< I would have expected something more Japanese, at least.

Death Note. I liked the Manga, the movie isn't bad either. The anime which started airing days ago si also fantastic. "L" is so cool in the movie. XD The actor totally displayed L's weirdness.

Another Death Note fan here! i love the manga so much. i've not finished reading it though...im still left with the last 2 books. the plot is freaking good but the dialogues can be long-winded at times (my classmates laughed at me when i fell asleep while reading it once). still, it's one hell of a good story man.
im looking forward to watching this movie with my classmates. i initially thought our country wont screen this movie cos of its content, but it seems im wrong. i've seen the trailers r they look pretty exciting, dont they? yep....i find it rather wierd that they used red hot chilli peppers' song as their theme song too.

yeah man, once the song from red hot chilli peppers appeared in the trailer i dl-ed from a unknown western country source, i was so seriously turned off. Felt quite strange and i tot the fans added that themselves. Once i read the news bout the movie only i know that it IS the song for the movie. And this band is singing for the part 2 as well. Wateva man.

they are showing it at singapore, but why not in malaysia? That's one thing i don't like bout my country. All stuffs go to singapore, but not my country. Msia sucks man. Even Slipknot went singapore to perform.

Anyway, after i read the news bout the movie only i know tat the actor for L is actually the gay from NANA the movie, the bassist for trapnest. omg he is so cute. Couldn't recognise him when he make up as L.

Sorry, haven't checked in for awhile so I'm going to be replying to a bunch of different stuff that's been said:

I hear you on that one. I thought it was pretty weird seeing him eat something sort of name brand that I've had the opportunity to eat. Grin

I totally agree. The over plot, concepts, and artwork is amazing but sometimes the dialogue is extremely long for the amount of information and action that happens. I'll probably have to read it one more time through to get all the stuff that I may have missed while my eyes got heavy.

That's a real shame! :< I was really hoping that a fan added those chilli songs too. I've said it before, I really like the band but they are 100% out of place when it comes to this move; few to none of their songs that come to my mind have anything to do with Death Note and it's major concepts. That's a huge turn off, but I'll probably still try to watch it just in honour of the manga.

hmmm the reason is i guess Malaysia is not counted as developed country yet ? or the rating of these Japanese movies are usually low, so they'll not screen there.....

L dont look good in real live.......... talking about NANA, Aoi isnt inside, lost 50% of the reason to watch NANA 2 ...... tho MIKA is in it, i'll give it a try LOL

Happy to see Death Note fans out here..... thinking !! should i start a death note fan site ? hehe hope someone answer that.. Boogie

Seems like the song is making people have a bad impression of the movie...Someone should feedback to them! It would be a good idea to have a fan site on Death Note, but since the manga is finished it should mostly be on the anime. STILL haven't watched it, but I promise I will, soon! I think they have a link to that in another thread, but for some reason i can't access it. Sad

i dun care who sing for the movie, i will still watch it somehow. Although it's a bit turn off. And ya, the manga is a lil bit long winded and i dun really understand some of the parts. like how N tricked yagami with the fake note. But anyway, i dun think N is included in the movie right? It would be nice if got N's part. Somehow it seems quite impossible since N's investigation group are all westerners and they dun speak in jap for this made in jap movie... L is jap right? But N and Melon r not... eh, the guardian of L is blonde westerner in the manga but a jap in the movie... Whatever man. lol Confused

Okay, here's the only fair warning your going to get. There will be a big spoiler after this sentence so beware. Wait, are you talking about the very end?! Because that's a pretty big deal considering it's pretty much the downfall of our beloved Kira. I guess it could get pretty confusing considering there was a fake of a fake and a fake of the real thing. :E

But N and Melon...

Grin Haha, I've never heard him called "Melon" in the translations that I read it was alway Mello.

I read Death Note in Chinese, but it translates to Mello too. The first movie probably won't have Near or Mello, but I'm guessing the later sequels to the movie will have these characters. They are crucial to the plot, no? I think the language thing isn't really a problem, they will most probably still speak in Japanese, but in the manga do Near or Mello speak to Light in English/Japanese? hmmm...

EDIT HERE:
I watched the Death Note movie yesterday!!! OMG, it was the best..i really really enjoyed it. The thing is though, it's rather different from both the manga and the anime. I felt that it gave a different viewpoint of the whole story.

AND. The funniest thing is that Ai Otsuka was mentioned in the movie. Might be a spoiler here, but when they were introducing misamisa's show, she was saying that her biggest rival is Ai Otsuka. Boogie

omg i made such a silly mistake. is Mello, not Melon as i said...!! sorry boss for confusing y'all. N's full name is Nate River right if i'm not mistaken.

We kinda get confused on how actually N and mello communicate. In english? or jap? IF there's a movie sequel for them...

the movie will be showing in my country on the 9th of NOV 2006. Kinda late huh? at least better than nothing! I haven't watch yet so i'll sure tat i get my asses on the cinema's seat and enjoy the whole show.
