She has a really beautiful voice.

I think she has the potential to go pretty far. All of her releases since her debut have been ranked pretty highly. Her recent single was her first #1 release and it's stayed pretty high on the charts for a while. (She's been recently knocked down to about #14 on the charts with all the awesome new releases, though. Sad )

By the way, the links I gave all go to YouTube. I would upload some of her stuff if I had the internet speeds to do it. As it is, I might try to upload at least a song or two for sampling.

Anyone else here an ayaka fan?

I've heard some of her songs already! I really like the Mikadzuki single. But I think not a lot of people know her yet. But I agree that she has the potential to go far. Her vocals are really powerful.

First Message is great! Boogie

I'm in love with this album! I think it's a great debut and it really shows off her talents. Not only does she have a decent vocal range, but she can do quite a few different types of music. She especially shows off her vocal talent in the short acapella song, message, at the end of the album. Love

All of her best songs are on here, and I'm really loving the new material. I was going to pick a favorite song out of the new material, but I honestly don't think I can.

A bit of really awesome news, the album debuted at #1 on the charts yesterday! Not to mention her previously released single, Mikadzuki is still charting! (It snagged the #10 spot last week. Yesterday it was reported as #18.) So congrats to ayaka!

I hope she can keep it up and snag the #1 spot at the end of the week! Nod

The album managed to snag the coveted #1 spot on the charts for it's first week, selling 350,580 copies! It's dropped down to #2 now, bumped down by ELLEGARDEN's new album.

Amazing results for a debut album! She definitely has a place in this industry and I feel she's going to go pretty far! Nod

Considering she only debuted this year, she's already doing amazingly well. I just wish more people outside of Japan would take note of her, though Sad She has this funny thing going with her too, always doing the peace sign when she's taking photos! Laughing

I have just heard of her too.1 of her song which is her 1st single was top chart in oricon rankings 2 weeks ago.I heard from the radio of that song and it certainly deserves the 1st place. She have a beautiful voice which also bring out the emotion of the song she sang.It was really great.I think i will support her in times to come. She definitely has the potential to be one of the best singers in this decade and she will surely climb up the music world ladder.

I think it says something when you look at the fact that she's the first female artist in over four years to have an album sell over 300,000 copies in it's first week on the charts. Not to mention that she's also the first female artist in over four years to have a #1 single and #1 album in their debut year.

I'm really impressed at how First Message is standing up in the charts still!

I think aside from having an awesome voice, what really helped her, was the fact that she did so much performing and was in the public eye before ever releasing a single.

She did various concerts, mostly in Shibuya. Not to mention she performed at the MTV Cool Christmas 2005 TV concert along with melody., Koda Kumi and Ashlee Simpson, She even had a video for Mikazuki out before her debut and the song was used as a theme song to the NHK TV show, @ Human.

Nod I agree with this very much too! I haven't seen an artiste with such wonderful performance before, and it's only the first year that she has officially debuted! I must say she has a very unique style and voice which is endearing to people. There's something about her voice that's really different from other singers! Does anyone know if she managed to win anything at Best Hit Kayousai?

This is a interview by Ayaka done by a singapore newspaper called The New Paper.I wonder how they got her e-mail?And the picture used in The New Paper is the first one put up by madgirlslovesong.

Call her Japan's new diva,or the next Hikaru Utada. After all, newbie Ayaka boasts the same polished vocals and composing talents as Hikaru. Most Amazingly,Ayaka is only 18,a year older than Hikaru whe she started out,but she croons in a mature, emotive voice.

Five newspapers have called the singer-songwriter a "new diva" after seeing her perform at a music convention. Her first digital single,I Believe, has being downloaded more than a million times.

Singaporeans may also remember her stirring vocals from the Yutaka Takenouchi-Choi Ji Woo drama Rondo, shown here on cable recently.I Believe was the theme song for the serial.

Now Ayaka's smashing new debut album,First Messsage, has made it to No 1 on the Oricon chart and sold 2 million copies since 1 Nov,making her the best selling new Japanesse act of the year.

But for someone who has been placed on the diva's throne,Ayaka, who turns 19 on 18 Dec,displayed no diva-like attitude in an e-mail interview with The New Paper.Such interviews are rare, given the language barrier and strict control by touchy Japanese managers. The last such chat was in 2004 with pop duo Kiroro.

But Ayaka, who dropped her surname Iida for impact, has obviously set her sights beyond japan.A local Warner Music spokesman said that she is the "priority artiste" for the region and the label has lined up a month-long marketing campaign, including TV and radio commercials and in-store posters,to introduce her to singaporeans.

Her album will hit the stores here tomorrow. Her e-mail,which reached us last week, was disarmingly earnest.Ayaka's First Message is loud and clear-she hopes to reach out to more people through her self-penned music, mostly ballads and pop-rock tunes."Each sing has a theme and message and all are messages from Ayaka.I hope they will be engraved in everyone's memory,"she wrote.

On her route to stardom, she said she first felt that singing was her calling after performing at a cultural festival in her junior high school in Osaka. In highg school, she formed a band with her friends and performed in clubs while juggling a part-time job.

But it was after entering a pretigious music school in Fukuoka that she met music producer Yoshihiko Nishio, who paved the road to Tokyo for her.On being labelled the new diva, she said:"i feel very honoured, but this is only my first album.i will continue to work hard."

Moving to Tokyo was tough, she added, but performing on stage was "most enjoyable".How has fame changed her life?"I have fewer ' switch-off days ',but my music is heard by many people,"she said.

Like any excited teenager, she added that she also gets to visit places she has never been to,try "delicious" and meet her numerous fans. But Ayaka, who is now in the middle of a Japanese concert tour, was stumped when asked what is her biggest or strongest belief."Maybe...my family...my friends,well...yes,my family and friends...well,it's a difficult question,"was her reply.

She also acted coy when asked if the withdrawn and mysterious image of her on the cover of her debut single,I Believe, was the real Ayaka."Haha, that is the feel of the photo. But i think everyone has a withdrawn and mysterious side."

But she made sure to thank her supportive company staff, family and friends "who live far away" and my fans who "come to my shows, buy my CD and sends me letters".

Her next goal? "To keep on singing."

Hey, didn't see the post about that article! Thanks for it, I live in Singapore and didn't even see it -_-||| Anyway, I come bearing a cover of "I Believe" by a singer called Shi Sinhuey from Singapore. It's in Chinese, and the lyrics are pretty meaningful too. Listen to it yourself!
