Hiya

Ghibli productions just can't be compared with any other style - they're ALL so cute and perfectly animated, you can't help but fall in love with them

ESPECIALLY the Characters (and other 'creatures') - lol, too cute

Anyone here seen "Future Boy Conan"?
Miyazaki had a hand in making it, and its so obvious when you watch it - just as cute and funny as regular Ghibli stuff, only its 26 Episodes and not just an hour !!

BTW, thanks for making this topic tsukiko - Ghibli should be made known to everyone (who doesn't already, lol)

I have all the Ghibli series, since my brother was kind enough to d/l them and make them into DVD's, with nice cover labels. [A bit off topic, sowwie---->]: I didn't know there are printable DVD's where you can just stick the DVD into the printer and print images onto the DVD's.

Ghibli does make wonderful movies. Grave of the fireflies was soo touching and was such a saddening movie. Crying

Is anyone going to watch the new Ghibli movie that comes out soon?

Me, like you guys, are in love with Ghibli studio movies. I've watched spirited away, totoro, and Howl's moving castle.

I've been searching EVERYWHERE for Castle in the sky, the cat returns, Pom oko, and Porco rosso. Do you guys know where I can find/download these movies?

I have "The Cat Returns", but it's quite a big file, so if you wish for me to upload it up I'll take quite some time. Otherwise try searching torrent tracks, that's where I go it from in the first place. Wink

From your description I guess it's an anime? Do tell us more about it! Conan reminds me of Detective Conan, but I guess it isn't.

I have only seen The Spiriting Away of Sen and Chihiro as of yet, but one of my friends is a huge fan of the Studio Ghibli films - I really want to see more!!!

Well, I guess you would want the 2-disc version? (always better Giggle ). I see you are in America, so I am also presuming that you would want a Region-1 copy? Here (ordered in price - highest link is cheapest):

Region-1 (America, Canada, etc)
Amazon.com
DVDAsian.com (+ postage)
YesAsia.com

Region 2 (Europe, Japan)
HMV.CO.JP
DVD.CO.UK
Amazon.co.uk

Anyway, it was a long time ago you posted that, so you have probably seen it by now Giggle

Wow! I'm a big fan of Studio Ghibli too!
Hayao Myasaki is the master of animation!
I've watched:
- My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle.

I just watched Gedo Senki - Tales of Earthsea which was directed my Hayao Miyazaki's son Gorō Miyazaki. It was a pretty good stand alone story but when you compare it to Hayao's work it kind of pales in comparison. Gorō's style is very similiar to his father's but isn't as refined as his later works like Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. I'd still recommend watching this movie though, especially if you're a Ghibil fan. The story's something new and it has a handful of interesting characters. A lot of the popular themes like magic and the importance of names is back.

i agree that although Tales From Earthsea was not bad, it definitely didn't carry the depth of some of the other studio ghibli productions that really immersed the audience in the story and the animation.

I've watched:
- Laputa: Castle in the Sky
- Nausicaš of the Valley of the Wind
- Grave of the Fireflies
- My Neighbor Totoro
- Princess Mononoke
- Spirited Away
- Howl's Moving Castle
- Kiki's Delivery Service
- Porco Rosso
- Tales from Earthsea
- Whisper of the Heart
- The Cat Returns

Whisper of the Heart was definitely one of the warmest, coziest films i've ever seen.

Ghibli's awesome. I don't think it's possible for them to make a bad movie.

I really loved all the movie's I watched. Kiki's delivery service, sprited away, princess mononoke, howls moving castle, and lots of others. Theyre all great.

Oh, thanks so much for your help! I actually got the DVD online a little while ago, and the movie was very good, and of course, very sad. Crying

@hiro
What do you think about Goro? I mean, he has some pretty big shoes to fill. If we just compare their first films I think that animation-wise Goro wins out but when it comes to creating an amazing world, characters, and just telling an amazing story it's Hayao hands down for me.

Anybody else watch Earthsea? You could watch it streaming on crunchyroll.com; it should take your about a minute to get an account.
