Brief introduction!
Studio Ghibli Inc. (株式会社スタジオジブリ) is a Japanese animation film studio, and has quite a number of films under its belt since its formation in 1985. Here's a list of its films so far:
* Castle in the Sky (1986)
* Grave of the Fireflies (1988)
* My Neighbor Totoro (1988)
* Kiki's Delivery Service (1989)
* Only Yesterday (1991)
* Porco Rosso (1992)
* Ocean Waves (1993)
* Pom Poko (1994)
* Whisper of the Heart (1995)
* Princess Mononoke (1997)
* My Neighbors the Yamadas (1999)
* Spirited Away (2001)
* The Cat Returns (2002) (a sequel of sorts to Whisper of the Heart)
* Howl's Moving Castle (2004)
* Tales from Earthsea (2006)

I just watched Whisper of the Heart today, and the only word I can say is --> AMAZING! It's not my favourite Ghibli film, but none of its films I have watched so far has disappointed me. I have watched Spirited Away, Whisper of the Heart, My Neighbour Totoro, and Howl's Moving Castle. Hoping to watch more in the future! 
So, any Studio Ghibli fans here? What have you watched so far, and what's your favourite? Looking for recommendations, so I know what to look out for next  |

Haha, I've always had this little struggle in my head to start one of these threads or not; I didn't know if there were any other Ghibli fans out there. I'm a huge fan and I commend you for starting this up. 
I've seen: Castle in the Sky, Grave of the Fireflies, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Pom Poko, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle. I actually had no idea that Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind was pre-Ghibli but I love that movie too. The thing that makes me pretty sad is that Disney is the one bringing these to North America.  (haha, I never get to use that tardmote) I really don't like the voice actors that they pick; they made Pazu sound like a wimp.
It doesn't effect me too much because I watch them in Japanese with subs anyways.
I've been itching to see Tales from Earthsea for awhile but I haven't got around to it.
My top three would have to be: Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Castle in the Sky. All of the other movies are very close behind though. The stories are all equally amazing; it's just about what really gets to you that makes the difference. I always get that nice warm feeling that last for hours after watching a Ghilbi film.
As for recommendations, they're all good watches! See them all! |

 i'm also a huge ghibli fan! i'm actually kinda stubborn to watch anime movies that aren't miyazaki...(i'm sick in the head, i know )
i have seen:
-castle in the sky
-my neighbor totoro
-kiki's delivery service
-porco rosso
-pom poko
-whisper of the heart
-princess mononoke
-spirited away
-the cat returns
-howl's moving castle
oh and nausicaa too 
i've been searching everywhere for "grave of the fireflies" and i can't find it! 
i really wanna see it, even if it will make me cry! 
and it's pretty much the same story for "only yesterday" and "ocean waves" i googled these awhile ago, but i can't figure out if they've been made into american region dvds. 
and since "tales of earthsea" recently came out, it probably isn't american regionified yet 
and also, miyazaki's son just came out with a movie didn't he? "gedo senki"? or is that the japanese title of "tales of earthsea"?
this is pretty random, but the dvd i have of "my neighbor totoro" is actually like, a fox dvd i believe that's really old. it doesn't have japanese as a choice for audio though. it was funny, when i heard it was being released on dvd, i was confused since we'd had it for years and it only cost like, 6 bucks or something too 
ok, anyway, my favorites are nausicaa of the valley of the wind, totoro, kiki's delivery service, howl's moving castle, castle in the sky...i like many!
my least favorite would probably have to be...pom poko. it was a really slow movie, so i got bored, but it wasn't that bad

Yeah, that'd be the Japanese title of Tales of Earthsea. I just finished watching a trailer for it on Youtube and it gave me chills down my spine. Looks like Goro Miyazaki did a good job on it. It's nice to see that the Miyazaki legend is going to live on.  |

| Ooh, you guys have watched so much, I feel ashamed to be the one starting this thread! I'm waiting for my download of The Cat Returns to finish, which won't take too long now, I think! Anyway, Castle in the Sky was Ghibli's first movie right? Do you guys think that Miyazaki has improved over the years? Somehow I find it amazing that his animation skills have always been so good, even when older anime tend to be a little "lacking" in terms of quality, albeit having good plots. But miyazaki films never ever seem to be that way! |

| I think that Miyazaki's work has steadily improved over the years. His character designs never disappoint; he just pays closer attention to details later on. If you watch more Miyazaki stuff you'll notice trends in theme and images but you'll also see that, even though he's amazing already, he just gets better and better. I'm sure Miyazaki isn't the sole reason why Ghibli's animation is getting better; Goro just started and the animation looks like it's picking up from where Hayao ended. |

I'm also a big fan. I remember watching Totoro and Grave of the fireflies when I was 4 in Cantonese dub. So far I've watch Totoro, Grave of the fireflies, Castle in the Sky, Kiki, Only Yesterday, Spirited Away, the Cat Returns, and Howl's Moving Castle. I actually have all the older ones (before Spirited Away) on vcd, is just that I never had the time to watch them
A few weeks ago, I got the chance to catch the English version of Kiki on TV. It was interesting, seeing how Disney choose to change their plot here and there.
As for my all time favourite, got to be Totoro. I particularly grew up with that film! |

I like Ghibli cartoons a lot! But i just watched few of them though, namely Spirited Away, Porco Rosso and Princess Mononoke. I expect myself to watch more of them in the future!
I really like Miyazaki's productions, i thought they are insightful and always full of fantasy. Perhaps the best in anime movie category imo.
Btw, the original japanese version i watched is only Spirited Away. While the rest are english dubbed version. Is there any difference? |

There is slight differences between the sub and dub versions. The degree to how much they are different varies from movie to movie. I've only watch the English version of Kiki, so I can't really tell you what's different for each movie.
If you're really interested in the differecnes, you can look up the movie at http://en.wikipedia.org/. Usually they'll list out the differences between the subtitle version at the end. |

yeah, i watched the subbed version of "whisper of the heart" last night.
it was pretty good, if i do say so myself
i usually like the subbed version better than the dubbed, but that's just me 
yeah, but i don't get to watch the subbed very often because of...well, scroll up and read my other post  |

| LOL, I've always liked subbed versions better than the dubbed ones. Somehow I feel that the essence is lost when you watch things dubbed. I watched "The Cat Returns" yesterday, and it wasn't as good as "Whisper of the Heart", but it was still good! I loved the Baron, and Moon! Maybe we should start having like review posts. |

I love Studio Ghibli. I study animation at University and both students and lecturers are fans and we've watched several Ghibli films at Uni.
I myself have seen
- Howl's Moving Castle
- Spirited Away
- Kiki's Delivery Service
- Nausicaa
- Laputa (Castle in the Sky)
- My Neighbour Totoro
- The Castle of Cagliostro
- Princess Mononoke
I think that's all... I really want to see more ^^

i love studio ghibli movies! I've seen Totoro, Castle In The Sky, Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Spirited Away. I think Howl's Moving Castle is my favorite (because Howl is so hote  ) followed by Castle in the Sky as a VERY close 2nd |

LOL, speaking about favourite characters, I really liked the faceless creatures in Spirited Away.  Ghibli makes so many wonderful couples in the movies! It's hard for me to decide which pairing I like best. Anyway, anyone watched Tales from Earthsea yet? |
