One of my favorite PC series. This includes Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, and the upcoming Battlefield title which I forget at the moment, as well as all respective mods and offshoots and whatnot.
Basic idea of the game, is your typical first person shooter, with vehicles. Tanks, planes, jeeps, helicopters, whatever. I missed the kick-ass battleship from 1942, later games didn't have such god-like vehicles.
Lately I've been playing Battlefield 2142, but I only have the demo version so far. Next trip to Best Buy I can finally start playing the real thing. My biggest disappointment so far is that many people still think this is a basic first person shooter. They expect and assault rifle to be able to kill a tank or something. Plus teammates piss me off when I exit a vehicle to start repairing it, only to have it hijacked. Also I don't like having other people in my vehicle, like a gunner on the tank because they often shoot at stuff they can't damage, like other tanks. Thereby giving away my position.
I think this is better than CS. Partly, I think because you only have to wait a small amount of time and you pick where to respawn on the map after you died, instead of waiting till a round ends. And beginning in Battlefield 2, medics can revive you if you just died, so you can get back into the action that much faster.
OK I am too chatty right now so I'll just wait for other opinions.
