Another poll, this time more options. I was curious as to whether you guys prefer watching the subtitled PVs or the raw versions. Also I made sure to add more options than just one or the other this time!

I like the raw versions better even though I don't understand Japanese. Subtitles are nice once or twice but I largely put them aside once I watched them a few times, whereas the raw ones I could watch forever. Just the whole idea of subtitles sort of ruins the original PV for me. Especially if there are typos or if the timing or karaoke effects are bad. Plus oftentimes I find them at lower quality than their raw counterparts, so I tend to favor the raws more anyway.

I have superpowers apparently. Laughing

I prefer raw because I can understand it, but if I couldn't speak Japanese at all then I would probably prefer subbed.

I prefer to watch the raw video without the subtitles. I don't listen to the music with "subtitles" so I don't feel like I need it for the videos. I don't understand hardly any Japanese, but I feel like subtitles on a PV really tend to take away from the message being conveyed and the feel of the original video. (Especially if the subtitles are poorly done and covering parts of the video! Sneeze)

I don't mind to watch a subtitled video to get a little better understanding of the words, but for general viewing I'd much rather watch the video without.

No subtitles for me. My Japanese isn't good enough to understand everything, but even when I couldn't understand any at all, I still didn't like subtitles.

For anime, on the other hand, I still need them.

It depends. Personally, I collect both raw and subtitles versions for Ai's PV.

I don't really have the need to collect raw, since I have most of the CD+DVD versions. Raw is excellent for computer graphics.

I use subtitle versions to learn the meaning of the song, and to learn new words. I'm not the type of person who can read an English tranlation of the song, and be done with it. I might start reading a song's translation, but 90% of the time, I give up after reading the first few lines. I try reading it while playing the song in the background, that didn't work either. Maybe it's because I'm too used to the Chinese PV style, where they actually include the lyrics in the raw format.

I should probably clarified too, that I only watch subtitles with Ai's PV. The reason is that a fan had been making excellent subtitles version of all the PV thus far. I love the format (English on the bottom, romanji and actual Japanese lyrics at the top), and so far all of them seems to be error-free.

I prefer RAWs, Can't say I have superpowers as my Japanese ability is quite limited, but the subtitles usually distract me.
Its fun watching something even if you don't understand as it always serves as good listening practise.

Yup, same here. Raw PV is good enough. Somehow subtitles in PV makes it less beautiful of a PV to me.

I don't really care neither way. If I want to watch the PV, sometimes I would prefer raw because the subtitles would block out some stuff and plus it's easier to make graphics.

But if I want lyrics, normally I would just go to an lyrics archive or translation site.

Raw even though I don't understand a word of Japanese... Even though I archive subtitled PV's, I think they are distracting if you want to fully enjoy the PV for what it truly is.

I prefer watching the PV without subtitles, it kinda distracts the whole image when I'm watching. I rather watch it raw first, and then go back to translation later. that way I can fully enjoy the images of the PV instead of going through the subtitles and watching at the same time. I just find it kinda annoying~ Tongue

i don't care wheter i understand the transcription or not, i just enjoying the song itself.
don't know why, every subtitle is added, my focus will directly go to the subtitle, not for the PV. it says that human will focus their attention to the conspicucous one

I prefer watching Raw versions of the PV's.

Sometimes, subtitles can be quite annoying when you read the words, and are trying to watch the video at the same time.
