~ LOVE chan ~ ~ LOVE chan ~

To kick off the New Year (and say goodbye to 2006), avex's mumo Shop is selling 'HAPPY BOX'es for select artists, including Ayu, Koda Kumi, and our Ai! Boogie

¥4,000 (~$34 US)
A Happy New Year 2007 mumo Shop Happy Box Page
Happy Box Page - Otsuka Ai

The box will contain a random assortment of Ai's tour and a-nation goods (now unavailable for purchase from mumo), supposedly valuing around ¥11000 (!).

This is avex's take on a Japanese consumerist tradition, the fukubukuro--special 'grab bags' sold at New Year's containing a collection of unknown items at an overall discounted price. It's a way for merchants to unload unsold items to make room for the new.

Yet, as is the case with all grab bag situations, it's a crapshoot (to reference the Frienger PV... Giggle ). Sure you're paying less for what's inside, but who knows if you'll end up with things you actually want? You could end up with 20 of those Rastafarian-colored a-nation wristbands and no LOVE-chan... No Laughing

Despite the risk, it is a good, last chance opportunity to own some of Ai's tour merchandise (before having to resort to auction-hunting...). Nod Plus, in the end, the low cost is both a great discount and certainly takes the edge off those deputy service fees... No

Happy New Year! Love

It's not only singapore, these items are usually not available outside of Japan.

Thanks for the news zyzzyva, I'm going to press my luck and see if I can find a way to get this box! Mad

i think he/she means to send it to someone they know that currently lives in japan and when they receive it to send it to him/her where ever they live in the world. thats just what i got out of that not too sure by their meaning if they could clarify that, that would be great as i too want one of these boxes.

Wow, fukubukuro is very fun! If you buy, you might get special greeting card written by singer! This is internet sales company, yes? http://shop.mu-mo.net/ I don't know them but probably okay. Be careful for exchange rate, yes? Price for this box is ¥ 4,000 this is $33.60 today, I do not know how much is shipping but maybe much more than cost of box, yes? because import taxes if any, I don't know. Anyway lots of Otsuka souvenir inside! they say worth ¥ 11,000, probably this is original cost of items at concert. Wow, this is cool!

That box scares me! Its so tempting to buy but you dont even know what
your are going to get. But thats probably one of the reasons to buy it,
from the surprise. Kind of like a present.

Yes, that is the second 'special' avex is doing--they'll announce later which artist will write the card. It's like a one-in-a-million chance you'd get one, though... No

The mumo Shop is avex's Official Online Store, so it is all authentic and secure. Nod
However, they do not ship outside of Japan. Crying
The only way to get the merchandise is to know someone in Japan who is willing to buy the item, then send it to you, or use a deputy service that will do a special order from an online store (not just handle auctions).
Deputy service fees can get quite high, often doubling the price of the item (not to mention shipping costs from Japan!). Yet in this case, the items are already discounted to a high degree (¥4,000 down from the supposed ¥11,000) so one could consider it's as if one was buying the items at their original prices.
No matter how you look at it, though, it's still pricey... No (Especially considering you may be getting items you don't particularly want--all a-nation goods and no LOVE COOK stuff... Crying )

For those still interested, the site I've used for special orders in the past is Japamart. Their fees are relatively reasonable... Shifty Giggle
