hahaha i'm with the members that say about the not releasing the newer singles onto the album...

but i do kind of think that she will release a studio album this year... i'm almost certain she has the songs and stuff prepared, just waiting to be released!!

i think i'd get this album too because i don't really have any of her singles.... and the dvd DOES sound nice hahah

i wonder if there will be a limited edition with bonuses....!!
something to look forward to i guess!
thanks for the good news!!

Hmmm, my sentiments are the same with everyone else.. I don't really feel excited about this album at all.. Sure, Ai has lots and lots of great singles, but most of us already have them.. It sure seems like a waste of money for just 13 tracks.. at least for me..

a great starting point for new fans perhaps, but i don't think i'll get it.. Crying

Besides the title and the fact this includes Cherish and Friends -Sakaban version-, I'm very disappointed in this No

For those who can't read the info on the offical site, here some translation:
It'll be released March 28, 2007. The CD+DVD is 3,990 yen, and there's not going to be a CD-only version. First press is a special packaging and a special schedule (??).

As for the title, it is a pun for "I Am Best"

i wonder how exactly we should refer to this album. the avex news describes it as which uses her "signature". is it her full name in the circle? maybe she is trying to establish a symbol for her name, like ayu.

another example of her name in this way, at a recent poster signing.
This is actually Ai's signature. She's been signing her name this way at least since 2004 (as shown on the famous Utaban Magic Show). I don't know if you'll consider that as a symbol because everyone's signature is... well, their identity/symbol.

My guess is that the cover art title will be hand written by Ai herself.

It's a short playlist but the PV collection on the DVD sounds pretty cool.

It's only ¥3,990... I'll buy it.

i was wondering if her signature was a symbol or her name because i dont know anything about japanese writing. Confused i thought it might have been something like these

but then mangomalte said

and pon pon: yes, it's her name in the circle. the kanji for "love" (ai, that is).

so i just ended up displaying my ignorance. Embarassed Laughing

as for the comments about the track list and the absence of the recent singles, it paves the way for the next regular album, and in due course the singles collection(s)! ... then the "B" sides ... then the BEST #2 etc. im sure avex have it all mapped out. Nod

I have a feeling that this album is only released because her fourth studio album isn't ready yet, hence (1) the new singles aren't on the compilation and (2) the best album is released before the studio album - I mean, otherwise it doesn't make sense to exclude four singles when they are the most recent promotion.

I've been looking forward to this, and I will buy it since I don't have her albums, but I dunno - I'm disappointed that not ALL her PVs are here. What about two extra PVs from LOVE PUNCH? Or Kingyo Hanabi -short film- from LOVE JAM? Those would be more effective first press promotions than special packaging. It all sounds kind of rushed No

I love Ai, and I hope that the best album will sell well, but I don't want Avex to do what it did with Ayu and Koda, and just churn out two rushed albums in one year to make money. (It worked better with LOVE PUNCH and LOVE JAM.)

This sucks so much, no new songs or renditions. This reminds me of the same scenario of Nami Tamaki's Best album "Graduation~Singles~." The tracklist were in chronological order and the DVD offered PV's, although Nami's DVD offered her audition footage and the limited edition included an awesome history book.

Nothing really new with this, that just sucks so much. Not sure if I am going to buy this, although the PV collection is the only thing i'm excited for. But 3,900 yen for the CD+DVD combo, that is just crap. I've seen best albums with the same kind of cheap tracklist offered for lower price. Nami's best album had almost the same thing, small tracklist include one bonus track, same amount of DVD pv's, for under 32$.

It doesn't make much sense why she would not include Frienger through CHU-LIP on this best album. Must be a silly money making scheme to launch a studio album aftewards or right on the same day.

I don't really like the idea of a BEST at this point, she has yet to achieve her superstar status (even though she's close) and releasing a BEST right now is just more of "following the tradition" then "this is the right time". Sad

I don't think Ai-chin herself wanted this BEST album so early in her career. Being a musician herself where she composed and write lyrics for all of her songs, I thought she would have more say in this matter and in a way she could escape the "classic" (and in a way stupid) path to the BEST i.e. 3 album -> 1 BEST album. Honestly, I'm not excited at all but disappointed. No

Well, I guess you can't help it now that they have this all planned out. I will still purchase this BEST album despite my disappointment, one is to support Ai-chin and one is to get the first press bonus items and packaging. Tracklist-wise, I truely doubt there's anything that can attract a fan that already own all of her albums. Maybe the PV collection will attract those that don't collect her singles, but that's about it.

And the reason why "Frienger" etc. are not included in this BEST album is apparent, they are reserving them for Ai-chin's next studio album, which shouldn't be too far away seeing she already (or is going to) have 4 singles as opposed to the usual 3 she had before each album.

Thanks for the heads up!
Glad to see LOVE STORY debunked... It just didn't feel right, despite my desire for a fourth album instead of a Best.
I think mystique hit it spot on.

Plus, if the newest singles were included here, that'd probably hurt the fourth album's sales a bit. Some people don't care about regular album tracks, just the hit singles. So if they can get *all* of them on the Best, why would they spend more and buy the album a month or so later (or whenever the fourth is coming out...)?
[I still maintain the possibility that one of the movie-related singles wil not be included on the fourth album, i.e. only be available as a single... Shifty ]

I approve of the tracklist, actually. I'm happy to see the special songs (Friends and Cherish) included -- they're *practically* singles, what with PVs and exposure, and definitely some of her 'best' work. Nod

I have voiced my displeasure concerning Best Albums released before the end of an artist's career -- it's just not the right time for something branded 'Best'. Yet surprisingly, I think I will buy this. Even though I have all of these songs, I *really* want the PV DVD! (I have the CD-only versions of the singles and albums...) Also, it'd be nice having all the 'best' songs on one CD for playing in the car (the car I'm currently using doesn't like the iPod cassette adapter... Mad ) -- though I suppose I could just burn my own version...
The real draw is the PVs! Nod

But I also agree with mystique about the omission of the bonus PVs and Kingyo Hanabi's Short Film... It would've been really nice to have them here too, but I guess they're waiting for an ultimate PV collection, like Ayu's Clip Box...
It makes sense, though, to leave them out. I don't think Shabondama, despite its quality, has ever been terribly popular or could be considered one of her top 'best's. The other side of it is there wouldn't be a reason for new fans to buy the DVD versions of the previous albums if *everything* could be obtained on the Best.

Am looking forward to the cover and special packaging... Love
Wonder if the 'Special Schedule' is a preview of Ai's upcoming releases...? Confused

*EDIT*:
Already available for Pre-Order at CD Japan!! Love Boogie

Awesome! I'm really looking forward to this one! I guess that LOVE STORY album isn't going through, but I don't really care now that this is coming out. The only real downside is that there aren't any new songs but I really like everyone song on there needless to say. I'm shakin' right now! Awesome! This is really good news for me because I didn't collect any of the singles but I'm still strongly considering getting it all!

love love the title of this album!! =) the cd tracklist isn't the best, and yeah a bit shot, but that dvd is looking pretty nice right now...

not sure if I will be able to buy this, though...

does anyone know if there's going to be a first press and if so, what it's going to be?

They should have put Shabon Dama PV and Shabon Dama there. It's just as good as Cherish and Friends IMO.

Well, Koda Kumi achieved higher status after a BEST album, and Ayu's height was made around her BEST album (although the majority of her million-singles were made before A BEST). So it could be a double edged sword.

But is Avex trying to get people broke? First Ayu, then Ai.

As long as the cover's good. No headshots please.
