Everyone is so upset by this release. I really don't get it. 
In Japan, a "Best Of" album is usually nothing more than a compilation of single a-side tracks that have been included on previously released albums. (That's why Yumekui, Frienger, and Renai Shashin are not included. They haven't been released to a studio album yet, people!)
This is not the end of a career. It's not Ai saying that she's reached a certain level or that she's switching to rap or anything. All we have is a clever marketing strategy by the record company to squeeze more money out of fans. And it will probably work.
Besides, we don't know anything about what the first press items will be yet. You never know, it could be something awesome that will make everyone scramble to snatch up a copy! |

Hmmm, I'm not hating but I like the list though.  Frienger and Yumekui should've been in there still I reckon. |

| Ummm, I wonder what's gonna happen to "Frienger", "Yumekui" and "Renai Shashin"... Probably in the next original album. I really thought that she would have released an original album though. Umm. It's great for Ai-chan though. |

I've just checked the official site myself.
I'm delighted to hear that Ai will release an album. But I do hope it's her fourth album, not BEST album. It's too early to release a Best album for Ai chan. I think the sale won't be really well. Wish her the best, though. By the way, the title is very cute. 
Even though I don't like the idea of this compilation, I still believe that I will unconsciously buy it. Not because of the CD, but because of the collection of PVs. Just simly putting 13 singles into a CD without anything special sounds unfair to me (of course, to other fans as well). At least Avex should put a special song (an unreleased song(that would probably be a single)) into the album (But maybe this is hard to do so since the timing in releasing this album is terribly bad.)
If Avex wants to release something about Ai chan (in the compilation form), I think maybe the company can release some kind of her singles in acoustic or piano version. Or just release the collection of Ai chan's PV (DVD only). Or if Avex is kind enough, they can put "making of PVs" into the PV collection as well. 
PS The official site mentioned that "It is scheduled that first press is a limited packaging and special item."  |

I understand what you're saying. It doesn't have to be the way best albums work, though. BoA's BEST OF SOUL had QUINCY/Meri Kuri - which studio album were they on? (And because they were on her best, they weren't on OUTGROW). And Mika Nakashima's GLAMOROUS SKY wasn't on any original studio album, but on two compilations, THE END and BEST. That's why their bests sold so well, because they had great recent singles as promotions.
Maybe Avex is trying to do what it did with Ayu and her A BEST 2 in excluding the newest singles, but even Ayu has a new song on the black version and had already released Secret. Hopefully Avex/Ai will get SOME feedback and modify the tracklist a bit, since it's still tentative. |

from 5 months ago.
this must give a lot of credibility to ai-NAVI as a source, and it also squashes the idea that this release was a hasty or rushed decision. |

I am excited about this album! I mean, Dude it has # Kuroge Wagyuu Joushio Tanyaki 680 Yen on it! I love that song! Especially 680 version!! Haha!!
I'm definitely getting this CD best album!
Although I admit it wouldn't hurt if she added a new song to it or something to promote it better. I understand why the new singles aren't on this album though. |

I know this is a tool to rip the money out of fan's pockets, and that I have accepted. What sucks is that it is an abysmal attempt to do so. By the time it has been released, it would have been missing the previous four singles. Quite frankly that must be a record of some sort for a current artist. Even Ayu's best is only 2 singles late. but she has so much more reason, a double best release, both CD's with 15-16 songs on them, not one disc, not thirteen tracks.
The first press bonus better make it worth it. Nevertheless, I have placed my order at CDJapan. My current open order has Ai am BEST, CHU-LIP and Hilary Duff's new album, all first press/limited edition.  |

i think madgirlslovesong is right. you can't expect to much from this release. this is a best of album, maybe it is missing some things but we'll just wait for another best of album to come along and pick up the slack. (poor kataomoi dial and shabondama...) you as a loyal ai fan will buy this anyway and we all know avex wants our money and in support of ai we are all willing to give it up. so unless you're starving yourself to buy this album, don't worry about it!
my first reaction was excitement...13 PVs in one neat DVD. i've thought about this some and maybe agree with what jester said a while ago about buying this then not having to buy all the separate CD/DVD singles since my collection is very incomplete so far. but the problem with that is that in order to keep a consistent collection i must continue buying plain singles and wait to have all the PVs on the next ai best album...which is way too long. anyway i have started my collection of CD/DVDs already and i want to be consistent so i'll get this and all the CD/DVDs...eventually. anyway i am considerably less excited now than i was a while ago. |
