Never mind it... I tried using my IE browser after reading this topic and I have immediately seen the reason. Tongue so i guess (as of now) that there is only 2 words that best describes IE huh?

I am now officially an all-out Opera fanatic.

Also, I feel I should point out to all the Firefox users that Firefox is now less stable and less secure and has more security holes than Internet Explorer.

Which is hilarious considering that was one of Firefox's biggest attractions.

Everyone should switch to Opera 9, especially now it's the safest and easiest to use.

Besides, Opera widgets and Speed Dial are awesome.

Also, if you don't like how Opera looks, you can download a Firefox skin here.

Trust me, it's more than worth it.

There are many tiny differences between Opera and Firefox that make me reluctant to switch to Opera yet despite its better stability and security. No

First is the bookmark toolbar, while it is possible to have them implemented in Opera using Personal toolbar, it does not support "roll over" effect i.e. you have to click on a folder before it expands out. It's less intuitive for those people who are used to Windows start menu kind of feature.

2nd is Firefox is the best web development platform due to the various extensions it has such as Web Developer Toolbar, Firebug etc. Opera just isn't that good a web debugger compared to Firefox.

3rd is again related to extensions. There are just way too many developers for Firefox extension compared to Opera and you can really get all kinds of features that can be found in other browsers. This cannot be said for Opera, for example there's this feature (implemented using extension) in Firefox that I would like to have in Opera and it's likely that you just can't find anything like that. Making a switch means you have to give up those features, which really turns people off. Some of the Firefox extension that I love includes:
  • BugMeNot
  • del.icio.us post
  • Download Statusbar
  • FishEyeTabs
  • Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer
  • PDF Download
  • SearchStatus
While I haven't done an extensive research on how can these be implemented in Opera, I believe it won't be as painless as just activating an extension.

Due to all these reasons, I believe that is why many people are still reluctant to switch to Opera. Still, for all these reasons I'm speaking from an advanced user perspective. For normal users, Opera might be a great choice seeing they might not need those features I mention, and greater security and stability is always good for novice users. Nod

And for those questioning why IE sucks, it is mainly because it does not support web standards, and web developers had a really hard time (still is as of IE7, but at least it's better than IE6) using hacks and alternative stylesheet to make sure their site is compatible with the notorious yet popular IE.

And here are some tips for everyone: you can close a tab in most program that support tabs by clicking it using the middle-click (usually click wheel) button. And you can undo close tab by pressing Ctrl+Shift+T.

I use Firefox like a lot of members here ... at first I used to be an IE fan but I had too much pop up and others problems with it... The skin was better than IE. Then, it was hard to use Firefox, but now I've found that you could use some skin Giggle !!! So, I have an IE skin.
I agree with Eyn on Opera Tongue

I switched over to firefox after I realized that IE was consuming 50% of my system resources. My only gripe is its inability to directly access hard drives in explorer form (i.e. typing Ehmm into the address bar of IE). Other than that, I love its efficient, customizable, user-friendly design.

I like Firefox. More secure, more features, more helpful add-ons, themes, and I'm just overall more comfortable using it than IE.

Firefox is the way. Though it's downside is it's a resource sucking program haha. But hey it's user friendly =]

BTW Firefox won the 1st place in the best IT product of the year on 2005 (or the year it launched). I saw it on the PC World Magazine.
