First of all, it is always nice to see Aichin featured on magazines, it's great promotion for her and we get to see pretty photo shoots. We are lucky to have generous magazine scans contributors here on Channel-Ai.

Starting 2007, we've decided to make magazine scans threads a seasonal routine. There will be four threads dedicated to magazine scans per year, the format is as follows:

  • SPRING, from March to May;
  • SUMMER, from June to August;
  • FALL, from September to November;
  • and WINTER, from December to February.

From now on, feel free to upload any magazine scans to the gallery. Note that the scans you upload can only be either your own scans, or scans you've gotten permission from the original scanner to post them.

If you need a new albums to be created, PM caffeinated or Aprilis.. After you upload your scans, post them in the appropriate magazine thread. Smile We value your contribution~ Boogie

Another note due to repeated questions from members. The gallery is now Regulars-only due to DMCA issue. We are sorry that it's this way but there isn't much we can do. With regular participation, it's not hard to get into the Regulars user group. As long as we see that you are participating and do intend to continue to do so, you will be added. It might only take around a week. Images in the gallery are not going anywhere, so a little patience is all you need. Smile Magazine scans will not be uploaded to Imageshack, it is a lot of trouble to upload everything twice and hard to keep track of two copies/locations in the thread. Now that this is made clear, any future posts asking why the gallery is not accessible, or requests for alternative uploads will be deleted or ignored.

Secondly... After pestering Eyn about our urgent need to have the wonderful feature of expandable textarea, miracle happens! You can now double click the textarea and watch it magically grow right in front of your eyes!~ Laughing Our dread of scrolling back and forth when making or editing big posts/topics is forever gone. All hail the g33kmaster! Boogie

*Note: This feature is currently only available for the Renai Shashin theme. More themes will be updated in the future. Smile

Thanks for the announcement caffeinated, I'm just too lazy and busy to write it myself. So yeah, in case you haven't notice caffeinated has been recently promoted to moderator to help me out with some of the maintenance of this forum. She also has admin access to the gallery just like Aprilis. so if you guys have any problem with the gallery you can seek help from them.

So caffeinated suggested to me that we should create quaterly magazine scans topic seeing Ai-chin isn't popular enough to appear in magazines every single month and I agree with her that it's a good idea to do so. That's how this system come into place.

And here's a little background why caffeinated was promoted to the moderator status. Actually, I haven't really explained why I added Aprilis. to the moderator rank last time so maybe I'll do it here as well.

The reason why I picked Aprilis. aka Janet is because she's really dedicated and selfless by kindly scaning and sharing those pretty yet expensive magazines with other fans through the gallery. She's also a very nice writer of our dearest blog and through interaction with her I found her to be a reliable and enthusiastic person. She has really spent a lot of effort managing the gallery (most likely invisible to you unless you keep track of how the gallery changes) so please show your gratitude to her for dedicating so much to this community without asking anything back.

caffeinated aka Shelley is a nice girl I have the chance of meeting in real life. She's pretty damn good at art and web designing and has all the technical knowledge required to be a good helper of this site. Since she's extremely enthusiastic and is very willing to help out, I find it hard to not make her a mod and make my own life easier since I can just throw all the jobs at her easily via casual instant message on MSN. Giggle She's helped updating the first post on "Ai am Best" and "CHU-LIP" thread with all the latest information among other things so kudos to this dedicated girl!

She stated it here:

There isn't a fixed number of posts or length of time required to join the Regulars user group. As long as you participate in the forum on regular basis or contribute enough you will be recognized and added to the group. With more mods I'm sure the process will be much easier to regulate, thus members will be added more frequently. Nod And spamming won't do anyone any good, of course. Giggle Wink

this looks like a good idea. however, the names of the threads only work for half the planet. also, i believe the term FALL is specific to the north american continent. most english speaking countries use AUTUMN. i am not sure what the best alternative is, but this is my suggestion:
  • 2007 Jan-Mar, Magazine Scans
  • 2007 Apr-Jun, Magazine Scans
  • 2007 Jul-Sep, Magazine Scans
  • 2007 Oct-Dec, Magazine Scans

That's what I've suggested at first. Eyn had me change it. >_>;;; I'll ask him again on this. x3
I didn't know that was the difference between Fall and Autumn~ Haha, if we do decide to keep the seasonal setting, I'll change Fall to Autumn. Thanks~

I think the seasonal arrangement shouldn't be confusing as everything in this forum is pretty much using Japan as a standard, in this case spring refers to the spring in Japan, or any country in the northern hemisphere that enjoys seasonal weather.

And the reason why I don't prefer the "Jan-Mar" kind of arrangement is that as you all know, single releases in Japan is quite seasonal in nature. "SMILY", "Frienger" and "CHU-LIP" are Ai-chin's spring releases, then you also have summer single such as "Happy Days", "Kingyo Hanabi" and "Neko ni Fuusen". By grouping the magazine threads seasonally, we can avoid the overlapping of magazines that promote the same single into 2 different threads. e.g. "Planetarium" is released on September 21 so her magazine promotion could span from late September to October. Using the "Jan-Mar" arrangement proposed, you would have to divide those magazines into two separate thread which is a little awkward IMO.

The bottom line is "Jan-Mar" arrangement is strictly based on date, making it hard to decide if those magazine promotion that spans across the date "boundary" should be put into this or the next thread.

^ That makes much more sense now that you've explained it. I didn't realize the singles releases are season-based haha. I overlook lots of things. =_=;
