I just wanted to suggest that the announcement link at the main screen should be move up to the top.
As the announcement is quite important, having it at almost right at the end of the page make it seems to be not really important. |

| Yeah, most of the forums has the information and suggestions right on the top of the forum and itīs quite good choice. Itīs good to first know about the board news etc. and than to read through other topics. |

I disagree.
Whether it's at the top or bottom it is just an aesthetic preference.
It is the administrator's choice and he has chosen to put it here.
Most forums that I frequent have the announcements section at the bottom anyway. |

It also depends on what it the forum about. For example MMORPG forums has, from what I have seen during their visits, the announcement thread at the top, because itīs important factor containing gameplay changes etc.. On forums like this the main aim is to chat about Ai, so it goes first followed by other less important threads. The announcement hasnīt to be at the top because there are not so many fatal changes etc. So yeah, itīs maybe better like it is. |

Maybe.....
It will definitely be easier for newer members so they can find out what's going on. I'm sort of on the positive side for this idea. But this really is eyn's choice. |

| I do agree that many people often neglect the announcements/suggestions part of the forum, so perhaps it will be a good idea to move it to somewhere more visible to members. |

That's right, some people don't notice that this section would be the most important out of all the threads so that we know what's going on. Myself, I don't check this section a lot but i will be a lot easier if it's on top. |

Um.. I think I prefer that we keep the announcements where they are. For a number of reasons:
1. Ch-Ai is about Otsuka Ai. It simply makes sense that Ai-chin and media related forums are at top where they're easy to view without needing to scroll down.
2. There are many members that do care to read the announcements that doesn't need the announcement forum in front of their face all the time.
3. I don't think the matter would be solved just by moving the forums. Take the Spring Magazine Scans thread for example... How many times have the issue of gallery/regulars been brought up in that single thread alone? Not to mention the handful of posts that I've deleted (PM'd user) to avoid making the thread even longer with unnecessary explanations. If any new members even bothered to read that one thread, they would find their answer easily. I think the problem is more that many people just assume they deserve convenient and instant access to things once they register, and of course blankly demand/ask when they are surprised to find out that they can't access what they want.
Although I do agree sometimes newly registered members might miss the announcements due to the fact that joining a new place and seeing everything at once can be overwhelming. I'll see what can be done to remind new members that announcements provide helpful and important information about the forum and policies. |

Well you're right. This board doesn't have to focus too much on announcements, this is an Ai Otsuka board anyway.
But thinking of putting announcement on top, we don't have a lot of big things that happen here. So I guess we can just drop this idea now. By the way, it is a board for you to make new friends and enjoy time, right? You just need to know the rules and that's about it! |

One more thing I would like to add but I don't think has been mentioned...
The ideal member would take the time to go through all the threads of interest, so finding announcements wouldn't be a problem. Besides I'm sure everyone has their own idea of where to start browsing threads when they get here. Being at the top or bottom isn't so important. |

I was gonna say if it would be better to make announcements via email. Wouldn't that be better?? Say if we had a karaoke contest, then we emailed it to the whole memberlist, then we would get more people to participate. Is there any possible way to do that? |

| I only make huge announcements via email seeing not everyone enjoys getting emails from Ch-Ai. Having a new forum style, for example, might not be interesting enough for some members so I guess it's not necessary to send out forum-wide email on each announcement. When the time comes, I will mass email everyone for sure, let it be important announcement or anything similar. |
