I'm just interested in what the members of Channel Ai actually believe in.

I am primarily a Theravada Buddhist but I'm also a Discordian.

Weird combination I suppose.

What about you?

khmere-smily, you should listen to tsumetai, and talk to your father about it. I mean, if it's not what you believe in, then why are you going along with it?

As for me, my dad isn't religious at all and my mom is catholic. But I'm Agnostic; I don't really know whether there's a god or not, because I'm one of those "prove it!" people. If that makes sense to you...I mean, I'm not someone who can just blindly go on believing in something, I need to see it for myself. Nod But that's just me.

I'm interested to see what everyone else says too. Nod I have to admit, when I saw this thread, I was like, "Oh, Dave, you're just looking for trouble now." Laughing But I guess since we're not debating religion, it's ok. Giggle (Which is kinda what I thought when I saw the thread, which is dumb, thinking back. Tongue )

Definitely agnostic. Here's my religious timeline:
practicing catholic > non-practicing catholic > active atheist > atheist > agnostic
The atheist stage probably lasted the longest and ended a few weeks ago but I'm reading "The God Delusion" by Dawkins which is supposed to change the most firm agnostic into a full-out atheist but we'll see about that. I also really like Einstein's view on religion which is sort of a puzzle in itself; it's really neat and I suggest people check up on him. When I use the made up term "active atheist" I mean trying to convince people why atheism is so realistic and such but I eventually just decided to let people be.

Christian and Catholic are about the same thing right? Confused

If so, Christian for me. I don't follow the Church alot but I do go there every Sunday. I've received most of the Sacraments (Baptism, Eucharist etc.). So that's all I have to say. Smile

and carlito: catholic is a kind of christian, but when people say christian, they usually mean protestantic christian.

Roman Catholic by birth but to be frank I don't really follow any religion. I feel that my own values are good enough and I'm a good person. Mostly I could be what one would call an agnostic since I believe there is a superior power but I don't really believe any religious version of "god/s".

I'm staying in an islamic country where it "dominates". It has the authority among all religion... go wiki bout my country lol. Besides, we have buddisht, hindu, christianity, sikh... I'm a chinese where most of them are buddisht or christian. I'm born in a buddisht family but it doesn't mean that i'm one. I believe in god but it doesn't mean that i'm a christian.

To be frank enough i'm not happy with how christians in my country do to get more ppl into their belief. No offense but, i can't take it.

To cut it short i class myself as a free thinker though. I believe in one thing, there's god watching us. And at the same time, there's satan to pull sinners to hell. Got nothing to do with christianity again... I'm not a religious person, bcoz all the religious issues have ruined my stupid nation.

Actually, I've never heard of that.

Catholicism and Protestantism are just two different branches of Christianity and so the word Christian can refer to an adherent of either faith.

I find that kind of interesting.

I was born into a protestant family before becoming an atheist then agnostic and then Buddhist.

I see Buddhism as more of a philosophy than a religion though and so you could say that I'm still agnostic or atheist.

I don't believe in any gods or goddesses at any rate.

I'm also a Discordian if that means anything to you.

Most have never heard of it.

My family is atheistic, so do I. Although my grandparents were baptized they´re atheists as well.
I don´t need to trust to anything, personally, no offense, I always thought, I think and I´ll think that Church just wanted to gain money from people. Like for example in our count the Church took money for "dealing with God" when you came to them with what you´ve done. Of course there where some helpful, but mostly I look on the religion as on the tool to control people.
I also can´t understand some thoughts of Jesus. Like "Love your enemy, he does not know what he´s doing." Like, when someone almost kill me with a knife I should love him?
Or "Upon my honor, drink wine as my blood and eat bread as my body." What does he thought of himself? Was he really so sure about what he is?
I´m just interested about what you´ll reply to this, because I´m not in a contact with any believing person to discuss about this.
