hmm, I agree with Tsukiko and I believe that music is just like a universal language. Everyone puts emotion into a song, to the point that even if it is in a language you dont understand, sometimes you still know what theyre singing about. For example, when I first heard Planetarium, I didnt have the english lyrics...and I dont know japanese....yet the song still made me cry cuz I could feel her emotion in the song.

It's an amazing form of expression, that's for sure. I don't have to know what the lyrics mean to enjoy a song. Some things are just ten times better when sung, too. =]

music was once a freely expressive mass medium, of which now an industry taken over by large conglomerates with their only interest in profitable revenue. /hate

Music is something that is meant to be felt.
You don't really have to understand the lyrics and if it's good music, you should be able to understand the meaning of the song right away. Smile

It means a lot of things, but I personally think it's entertainment! Boogie I love listening to music every single day. I love how it could tell a story or maybe keep your mind on track. Well you don't have to tell a story in music, it's all about enjoying what you listen to! Boogie

It's also interesting that we consider a bird's chirping "singing" or "music" when they use it to communicate. To find mates, right? And I can't name very many songs that DON'T use the word "you" or reference to another person....

I think the same. One day my mom was listening some enka's song. I didn't understand the lyric, of course, but I started to imagine the ocean and a sad woman too. When I asked what the song was about, mom said was about a sad woman who missed her mom. I was like Surprised when I heard and discover I imagine right.

So I totally agree with lyx3 Nod Nod

For me music is everything!!!..xD...I couldn't live without it, i always have a song playing on my brain..xD
Music is the language of the soul, it's a sincere way to express feelings and a reflection of someone's personality. You don't really need to understand the lyrics, you need to understand the feelings transmmited by the artist. Almost all Songs express the most pure and private feelings of an artist and that's the most important thing of being a musician; they open their lifes like a book so we can use their experiences to become better persons.
The best musician isn't the one who uses espensive clothes and has a model face and body...the best musician is the one who touches our heart with his/her music and lyrics and let us feel the emotions he is feeling...

Ok..I finished.. Laughing xD
