I think I mentioned this before in mumble and some other thread that I am considering adding a wiki to this site. The purpose of this wiki is to include everything that relates to our dearest Ai-chin, and then extend from there, let it be wiki entry about her favourite food, her favourite writers, some related artists that one might enjoy if they enjoy Ai-chin's music and more. And most of these wiki entries can be written in a fun manner instead of being utterly serious such as those strict policies of Wikipedia e.g. every facts must be referenced or is subject to removal. With that said, I'm still hoping we can collectively produce a factually correct yet interesting wiki that is fun and easy to read and explore.
Here's the part where you come in, I need some suggestion on how we could implement this wiki idea, what section should we have and how can and should things be organized before this wiki is officially launch to everyone. Some of you might be casual contributor the the Wikipedia or Wiki.ThePPN, if that's the case, please contribute some idea and also volunteer to become editor/helper for this wiki to keep things in order. I myself is pretty new to the whole media wiki system and I have little knowledge about formatting an article and making it look professional. Still, I'm thinking we can all learn while contributing at the same time. That's pretty much how Channel-Ai started and evolved.
For the format, I'm thinking we can have an index on the Wiki front page that links to major articles such as biography, singles, albums, list of TV performances, magazines etc. Anyway, the point of this announcement is that I need volunteers that has some experience with Wiki system to provide some ideas and suggestions on how we can get the wiki implemented, what should be the format for each article etc before we release the wiki to public.
What you would like to see in a Channel-Ai wiki, is there a better name for this wiki instead of the dull and simple Channel-Ai wiki? What information is lacking in those Wikipedia and thePPN's articles and what we can contribute and add to this wiki to make Ai-chin's information more available to everyone especially those not-so-interested-but-will-soon-be-fans? |

Well, once I considered this on my own. But it turns out that you're pretty happy with it. Well, Channel-Ai is alright for a article name. Hmmmm, I'm really not sure what we can put in. I'd be glad to help out. I'd like to see in the wiki what's included in these boards, maybe that could work.
It seems like a good idea, it would get us more members and make this forum a more active one. Your work has been great on the boards, I think it would be alright to put an article on Wikipedia. Although I thought it would be a bit weird because there are not many articles involving message boards in them. |

carlito, you got it all wrong! I'm not talking about adding an article about Channel-Ai in Wikipedia, I'm talking about hosting our own wiki where users can contribute and shape it into whatever they want. It will be Ai centered, which is the way it differs from other existing wiki. I doubt what I wrote in my first post makes much sense to you if you've been thinking the whole issue is about adding an article about Channel-Ai on Wikipedia all this while.
Just so you know, wiki does not equal to Wikipedia, Wikipedia runs on a software called MediaWiki, and I'm thinking of installing the same software for Channel-Ai, hence my first post to ask for opinions on how could this be done. I hope this clear things up if some of you have been thinking the same way as carlito did. |

I like this idea a lot. Especially for someone who is late in discovering Ai-chin and is wondering about something everyone here takes as given (for example, saying "Ai-chin") then a wiki would be a wonderful place to get a lot of questions answered. |

Good idea. I myself am an active user of Wiki and I agree that we can get a lot more participaters from this project. Though I'm a bit afraid about the overlap of functions of this forum, blog and this future wiki, which can end up in the confusion of the members as to where to go and what to do where. And won't it be a repeat of Ai @wiki.theppn? Please correct me if I'm wrong because I don't have a clear picture about this project in my head yet. Hmm.... >.<
As for the name I think it should remain Channel-Ai. Or if we can think of some other words beginning with 'Ch' and ' A ', it'll be cool.
What I suggest including in the project are pics and media. Though this is case sensitive, but without more media it's not so interesting.
ADD: I have an idea. Is it possible to make a multi-language Ch-Ai wiki? It'd be interesting and make more fans. And we have many Ai's fans from many countries here, who i think will be glad to help. If you consider to do, I'm a volunteer for translating the articles+etc. into Thai. |

I think this is a very good idea!!
This forum is, ofcourse, a great source for Otsuka Ai information, but if there's a wiki, you don't have to search through the whole forum to get some information.
With the wiki you can put everything together and it'll be much easier to find for new fans ^^
For people who are already fan too by the way
I think it's very useful
I had the same idea as mafee too, about the different languages.
It's easier to read when it's your own language, especially when there's a lot of information.
I would like to try translating it into Dutch ^^ |

First of all, I would like to say, that in my opinion, itīs a great idea, because new, but also longer active members of Ch-Ai can have all information about Ai on one place. Thatīs really good, you donīt have to scan all forum topics to dig what you would like to know, so, superb idea.
About the multi-language localization. Why not, but one member speaking in certain language should be voted to make the translation. Like Iīm the only one who can make the Czech one, mangomalte in Swedish etc. And it have of course have to be a trustworthy person who wouldnīt place any junk about Ai on our Wiki.
So Iīm certainly for it and ready to help, if thereīs anything needed. |

Thanks for the input, I like the multi language idea but we should focus on building the English version first before we branch off to support other languages. Multi language support also requires some additional tweaking of MediaWiki backend so I might need some time to get used to the software first before deciding if other language should go under subdirectory or subdomain.
We need more ideas on what can be done and how should things be organized, so please contribute your ideas and opinion and don't be shy. Be bold, try new things and be brave to speak out, that's how things get done!
I noticed 2 person voted "No" in the poll and I am very interested to see the reasons behind their decision. Please, those of you who voted "No" (I know who you are actually ), I would like to hear what you have to say about this project and why adding our own wiki is a bad idea. We needs everyone's input in this, you don't have to go with the flow and it's nothing wrong to have different opinions on this. We respect all kinds of constructive suggestions and opinions as always, afterall diversity is what make us special.
Every opinion matters and the final result should be a consensus of everyone here. While I'm the one in charging of the backend and all the geek stuff that most of you have no interest in, you are the one who decide what you will see from Channel-Ai in the future. |

I absolutely agree on this one it's very good idea...everything could be there, and there wouldn't
be need to look information from Ai elsewhere all the time. For newcomers it could be wonderful start up place.
- About the localization of this project, first the
standard English version should be done perfectly and after that we should start to think, should we do localizised version in another languages. i could do the Finnish translation, since i'm the maybe most active Finnish in here. |

So about the organization. I think the content should be divided into groups, like: Personal information, Songs etc. (it would be better to divide it after all the informations are put together) About the build of the site, I think thereīs no need to worry our heads about it. I can be done similar to Wikipedia or Ch-Ai gallery / Blog (why donīt keep the style...).
On the top, there can be like the newest articles, obviously the search feature and basic groups. If the user enter a group it would be divided into detailed groups. If visitor chose for example: Albums -> LOVE JAM -> it would be great if a page contains listed songs, than info about the album covers and other available information. Hm, itīs difficult to think about the layout or content just in mind, Iīll try to make a pictures or anything...
We also have to mind out for DMCA, copyright etc, because the Wiki might be more visited than the forum after itīs start. And thatīs another thing to discuss. Available for everyone? I say yes, because of the newcomers starting point mentioned before, at least initially. |

I am getting the idea. Have a picture in my head already. In that case I agree that we should do it. Cast my vote for 'Yes'.
Don't have many ideas yet. On the whole I agree with Heisei. DMCA issue is terrible. I mean the copyright etc. is understandable, but how will someone who never knows Ai-chin before get the idea who she is and why he/she should like her without listening to her songs or seeing her in pics...? A bit unrelated...sorry. |
