Recently I looked Ai Otsuka up on Wikipedia, and it said that she was a skilled Pianist. I was wondering if any of you knew if she played piano in any of her music, videos, or any thing else? So have any of you heard any piano playing from Ai Otsuka?

I'm certain there isn't anyone here who does not know that Ai plays piano. She's often seen performing live while singing to her own accompaniment, and it's even written in her official profile after all. Also I think I remember her mentioning in an interview a while back that she gets the melody of her songs down on piano whenever a new song idea comes to mind. Ergo, she uses piano as a foundation when composing.
Ai's been taking piano lessons since she was 4 years old so she's very refined. Lucky for us we get to hear this refinement in every one of her CD tracks that includes piano, all except for Tokyo Midnight, I believe. |

| Its obvious from what we can see from her live performances, that it usually have a part where she does her piano solos, and she always plays the piano for her songs in studio albums/singles. |

I knew she played the piano since I became a fan. It's quite evident that she plays with her live piano performances at all her tours and some shows. Also, a lot of her songs have piano in it, which are played by her. |

ah, ai's piano skills are amazing! i learned that she played piano at a young age, and i guess that early training made her become a better pianist. i totally fell in love with her piano playing while watching her live tours. |

I love it when Ai plays the piano for her live performances or concerts. I think it's a vital part of Ai's music is her piano playing. For me it makes her a real artist by knowing an instrument so well. Especially since it's a piano since it is an instrument that covers all the various musical notes and musical scales (sorry I'm sure there's better terminology but I was never a hardcore music student).
Anyways, for me it makes Ai's music more appealing and helps separate her from certain artist. |

I have several video collections of Otsuka Ai playing her music live, while she's playing on a piano. She's is sooo amazing, and very talented. I know for a fact that she's been playing the piano ever since she was 4 years old. Now that she's an adult, having all those years of experience with piano training, to her, I bet that playing the piano is like a kid playing with crayons. Listening to her playing the piano really touches my heart. That's how good of a pianist she is. My favorite piano performance of Ai-chan is when she played Friends [Sabakan Version] on Otsuka Ai no Sekai. She looked so beautiful, and I loved the way she was banging on the piano with her talented fingers, while she was also banging her head. She looked so professional. I hope someday that Ai-chan will release an album which features all of her beautiful ballads in piano versions. That would be so awesome! |
