^ lol, just because you haven't watched some movies doesn't mean you suck.
i haven't watched most of those either.
but if you like sad movies you should definitely check out Taiyou no Uta (i think the movie is better than the drama, but both are great). and if you haven't yet, i recommend you to watch Ichi Rittoru no Namida (1 litre of tears) which is also both a movie and a drama, but it's the drama that's the more famous one, and i can frankly say that it's without a doubt the saddest thing i've ever watched. i want to see the movie really badly, but i could only find the trailer...
i quite enjoyed The Great Yokai War, a really weird and funny movie about a young boy who together with some traditional japanese monsters has to stop some other monsters from trying to take over the world. i recommend it. Takashi Miike directed it (the guy that did the DOA movies and like a million other).
and i also liked Shinobi - Heart Under Blade, even though it might be a bit disappointing for those who have read the manga (Basilisk) as it's pretty impossible to fit all that into one movie. but there are some really cool fights and stuff there. and Erika Sawajiri is in it.
edit: yay, posts 700!  |

I haven't seen many japanese movies up to now, only like...3?
still, I can recommend NANA, like all the others too
and water boys! very funny!!
last but not least, I just finished watching Shinobi ~Heart under Blade~ and it's awesome I love how the film is made, I love those strange characters and the somewhat touching story
you can even download it directly from this thread! tat's what I did ages ago and it took me, like, forever to actually watch the film, but it was worth it ^^
@ mangomalte:
1 litre of tears! I've seen the series, too T_T
I know where you could download the film...but you should have a livejournal account...if you don't have one you can PM me, and I'll tell you where you can get it |

I've only watched few japanese movies:
- NANA (it's a good movie ), I haven't watch the NANA 2 yet;
- Battle Royale (violent but with an interesting idea) ;
- Tayou no Uta (YUI is very cute );
- Death Note (another violent movie with an interesting idea);
- Tokyo Friends (Ai-chan!!!!! )
- Shinobi and Azumi movies too!
I think only Death Note of this list above wasn't recommended before!!! |

yeah I've watched NANA but not NANA 2 yet!=( Death Note was a really great movie and so was Death Note 2! Very fast-paced and thrilling! Besides, I think kenichi matsuyama was pretty cool=D I watched Water Boys about a month ago and it was kinda silly but fun at the same time!=)
Yeh, i've not watched Tokyo Friends yet. Lots of dorama, anime and j-movies on my "waiting list" to watch after i finish my major exams!!=) |

ooh. i want to watch NANA. looking forward to the asian movie marathon that my friends and i will have over winter break.
i recommend:
- Tokyo Friends!
- Moonchild (stars Gackt, Hyde, and most importantly, Wang Leehom)
and these Studio Ghibli films by Hayao Miyazaki:
- Spirited Away
- Castle in the Sky
- Whisper of the Heart
- The Cat Returns
- Howl's Moving Castle
- Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa, and Porco Rosso are good too
another animated film that's really good is Grave of the Fireflies but it's so sad |

| Try Shinobi Heart Under Blade! Cool effects and it's a pretty awesome film over all. Has a sad ending but it's all worth it! |

| I recommend Baburu e go !! They have casts like Abe Hiroshi and Hirosue Ryoko. It's an entertaining movie about Hirosue Ryoko using a time machine to go back to change the past. |

I really enjoyed SUMMER TIME MACHINE BLUES, it's very funny, and with an interesting plot, if you ever have the chance watch it! I tell you, it's not the usual time travelling movie! |

Hah wow. It's funny how this topic gets active like 5 months after I start it.
Have any of you seen Ping Pong or Go?
Theyre really good movies. Despite the violence and weird moments in Go, it has a pretty good moral. |
