it might be a dumb question but I'm an ai newbie and I really like to know if she lost someone in her life because the lyrics of planetarium and shabon dama let me think that
don't laugh at me
and don't be mad at me please >.<

Her boyfriend died? Really? Where do you have that information from?
It's so sad if it's true. |

| Hmm chiakifoil, did you interpret that from the Daisuki Dayo MV? I've never heard of any news that Ai-chin has lost anybody before. If it is true, that will present a whole new dimension to her songs! I hope it's not true though, it will be really sad if it is. |

this news somehow makes her song seem even more meaningful than before
its kinda like ayu - a lot of her songs are about her father who left her family, which, i think, is part of the reason why her songs are so emotional |

| Ai briefly mentioned in a Renai Shashin interview that she and a certain guy she was close with were separated by the time she could confess her love for him. However just from this we can't discern whether he passed away or they just grew apart. Either way this is unrelated to whatever feelings she sustained in Daisuki Dayo. |

| I once wondered about this before, though I think it would be kinda hard to really find a conclusion to this. Ai-chin seems to keep such matters tightly sealed. |

Yes, and the sad songs that she sings may not necessarily be about someone she has lost, but maybe it was someone another band member had lost. I can't think of any bands at the top of my head that have done something like this except "The Verve" when they sing "The Drugs Don't Work." I believe the song was dedicated to the guitarist or some other band member after that member's father had died.
But I think Ai sings too many sad songs to say that she's "dedicating" them to someone else. It's obvious she's writing from her own experiences. For her to sing so many silly and bouncy songs, and then to go to sad and more slow-paced songs shows that there is another side to her ecstatic, perky self.
My guess would be that she has lost someone, but maybe not necessarily due to death. She wouldn't sing songs like Planetarium or Daisuke Da Yo just for fun...after all, she sings just about every other one of her songs out of fun and silliness. |

I've thought of this a lot of times either. Her sad songs are mostly about 'loss'. I haven't heard about someone dying either but I did hear that Ai-chin wasn't able to confess her love to the person she dedicated 'Renai Shashin' to.
^ And Egore is right. Ai doesn't sing her ballads for fun (just out of something). |

I've been talking to a Japanese friend some weeks ago and she told me Ai had an abortion - that's why she wrote 'Planetarium'.
I think losing your unborn child - whether willingly or not - is one of the most painful things that can happen..... But it's this pain that makes 'Planetarium' even more beautiful - in a sad way..... |
