My world of Jpop has been quite small, starting with Ai-chan and followed by YUI. Tried a little of Younha, Hitomi and Yuna Ito and thats about it.
Recently while surfing, I stumbled upon this 3-piece girl rock band called Chatmonchy. I kind of found their music to my taste, so if you love Ai-chan and YUI, you might want to check them out! I did a search and found no information about them on Channel-Ai, so cautiously... I'm starting this thread as my contribution!
(From left to right)
Akiko Fukoka - Bassist
Kumiko Takahashi - Drummer
Eriko Hashimoto - Guitarist, Vocalist
Eriko has a lighter voice like Ai-chan, as compared to YUI's voice which sounds heavier to me. So naturally, she sounds a little kiddish and cute in a way. I also like her voice alot. It sounded a bit off at first, not perfect, but as I listen more, the flaws make it sound unique.
Below are some of their songs that I find very catchy. Please preview them if you want to! Not in any order... But a special mention to Shangrila, I like the chorus because it had a special beat, sort of like not the normal 4/4.
Shangrila
Joshitachi ni asu wa nai
Hana no Yume
Koi no Kemuri
For those of you who love BLEACH, the ending theme (Daidai) of the upcoming episode 132 is sung by Chatmonchy!
If you like/dislike them, or find any of their songs nice please feel free to comment! For more in depth information please visit the Wikipedia link below!
Cheers!

The first time I heard anything form Chatmonchy was when I saw the for the ED song for Bleach, Daidai.
It wasn't 'till later that I found out they had actually been around since 2005.
After listening to Daidai my curiosity grew and that was when I discoverd Koi no kemuri, simply put one very awesome song
Since then I have purchased their latest album, Seimeiryoku and I will no doubt continiue to listen to their awesome music. The Live performances by Chatmonchy are probably the biggest highlight as they perform flawlessly !
This is definitely one band to keep your eyes on
If you are interested then I recommend you check out this Chatmonchy fansite:

On a more Otsuka Ai-related note, the new single, Pocket, is awesome !!!!!!!!! Absolutely love it XD |

Yup, I heard of them because one of the Bleach endings Daidai was by them! It was different music, never heard of that sort of music before, but I definitely liked it! From 3-girl band, they're pretty cool! |
