Im very sure that people usually make icons from screencaps etc...
Ive been wanting to make some Hanayome to Papa icons but I dont have a good screencapping program. The one I have right now is Imagegrabber..but it kind of sucks because..I cant open a LOT of files. It usually gets stuck.
Does anyone know a better..screencapping program.. Confused

And..I also wondering what program..people use for making gifs.
Hehe sorry for asking too much questions hope you dont mind
Anywayys Thanks in advance
I hope I didnt break any rules this time Sad

If you use Media Player Classic, which comes with K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, you can take screencaps by pressing "F5", the file created can be found in the root of the drive where the file can be found, usually C drive.

If you use VLC media player you can take screenshot by pressing "Ctrl+Alt+S".

For making GIFs, you can use Adobe ImageReady that comes with Photoshop usually. You can create different layers in Photoshop then export them to ImageReady, from there you can set each layer as a frame and specify how long should the frame be shown. There are also programs that convert video directly into GIFs but I don't have much experience with those.

i'm currently doing my first gif, and i got a recommendation to use Virtualdub Mod to screen cap. it's really convenient. just open the video in Virtualdub Mod, mark the part of the video you want to gif and choose File>Save image sequence and save the pics in a folder. then open up Imageready and choose File>Import>Folder as frames and you get all the screens in your gif. Smile

you can get Virtualdub Mod here for free: http://virtualdubmod.sourceforge.net/. if you have problem with it opening videos it may be because you haven't installed directx on your computer.
you can use it for a lot of other things too, i usually use it to rip audio from videos or add soft subtitles to movies and such.
